Nope, I haven't... tried reinstalling the drivers. It has to do with Direct3D it doesn't happen with OpenGL

I've looked everywhere and I can't find anything about this problem. There are many programs that I use that run in Direct3D windowed mode. The problem is that when anything with tranparency (menus, other transparent windows, start menu transitions... etc) is used, it makes the frame rate drop...

In the catalyst control center there should be an an option under displays. I don't have them so I can't tell you specifically. The option should be something about playing "overlay content" in TV.

I live in the USA and i prefer Celcius over ferenheit, it's easier when comparing temperatures with the rest of the world... I think USA is one of the only country left that doesn't use the metric system... we should switch already!!!!

I have a 2005fpw. I set my background to white and no matter how hard I look, I don't see any scanlines anywhere on my monitor. Have you tried it in another computer?

You should try it on another computer and see if you still have the same problem, or maybe if you have an old graphics card lying around, you could try that too.

There was one pixel that didn't seem quite right in my 2005fpw which was fixed by rubbing, but i don't think it was dead. I was never able to fix the backlight leakage on my 2005fpw though by rubbing it, although, it did even out after 3 weeks so the leakage is not as notisable anymore.
