Hi There I'm trying to fix my broken MBA that had water damage, i got everything to work besides the keyboard. I know i can buy the keyboard to replace but they are riveted in and its a PITA to replace. I see the shells with keyboards go for waaaaaaay too much on ebay (more then what i deem the...
You might have a a card with a bad voltage controller (i have two) what happens is the dynamic clock/voltage on the card kicks in and the card lowers clocks and voltages in 3d mode as it feels that it does not need to run full bore, then it clocks up when needed. The issue is sometimes the...
NO difference, i poted out for 16/8x on my z97WS due to being able to keep my 2 cards as far as possible. Hell the 290s ran just as good on my z68 board in 2.0 8x lanes.
Did you attach all the power cables? this board has quite a few power sockets, 20+4pin 2x 8pin and a optional 6x pcie for the pcie lanes, are you trying with the same cpu/gpu/memory, the problem might be one of the other components, also these boards have qlogger that you can check and a post...
Its a a voltage issue with elpida ram on some cards. The vcore drops dynamically but at times it is not enough to sustain the memory at the clock rates, thus causing a crash, running constant voltage can fix this.
I'd like to see a comparison done on a cross fire system with 2600k and 4790k @ same clocks but with 4790k running 2400mhz memory, seems like crossfire/sli benefits quite a bit from more memory bandwidth.
Thats much more cache voltage then me, but youre running cache ratio at 46x which is impressive with the core at 4800 and 1.3v. Very nice chip you have there. Gonna try more uncove voltage, and some extra cpu agant voltage. I can game at 4.8ghz all night, i crash in x264 stress test though.
What uncore/ratio voltage are you guys running? i think that's what is holding me back, as i keep putting volts through and still cant get stable 4.8 under x264 tests.
How are your temps on bare die? I considered delidding the beast. I havent OC'd yet, i'll be doing that when i get home from work, ic i can get 4.8ghz under 85c on real world tests and not sythetics i just might keep it as is.
After i installed windows late night i ran newest prime small ffts and hit 95 on stock settings with h100i. Prime is not the best way to test real world loads, x264 keeps it under 65c max.
Picked up a L329C241 batch one at local MC, guy looked through all the stock and there were no L4s in there :/
I bought the 2y warranty tho so if i fry it with high volts i get a fresh one :D Or wait till broad well and do a swap as they give you a full refund. Backing up data now, will swap...
Price Drops, open to trades/negotiation
Intel 2600k that has been running under water since day 1. It's running at 4.8ghz across all cores on auto OC (it runs stable so i decided not to mess with manual settings) I bet if you tinker with it you can push it further.

Decent review, i wish there were Crossfire tests at higher resolution.
My upgrade/sidegrade is mostly for a better motherboard for crossfire spacing of the cards, more sata 6g slots and m.2 as wel. ALready have the z97-WS waiting.
I'm moving to Asus z97-WS board, not only it is an amazingly solid performing board, it does have amazing options for PCIE configurations, and plenty of SATA 6g ports, as well as m.2 and few other features.
I'm upgrading (side grading?) my sweet 2600k that does 4.8ghz 24/7 to 4790k.
This is driven mostly by my need for a batter motherboard with better spaced out PCIE due to my gellid coolers (.5" of space between cards is not enough for gellid) The M.2 will be nice if i see any decent ssds comming...
Can you guys link me to some benchmarks with faster ram on haswell chips, like 1600mhz vs 2400mhz.
I want to see what king of performance increase it would yield me.
Already started looking at ram, god damn this upgrade is becoming a full swap quite quickly. I thought its harder to oc hasswell chips with high freq ram, is that true?
My board is coming tomorrow, and will get the 4790k from MC when it hits store shelves.
I'm a bit worried that the chip wont be that impressive over my current.
My 2600k does 4.8ghz withe ase on auto settings, if i fucked around with it it would run at 5 i bet.
I bought the board from newegg, i could have picked it up from BH as i live and work just few blocks away. But i have to wait for MC to release the 4790k cpu anyway, as i had a brain fard and thought i could use my 2600k on the board till then. (idiot me forgot about 1150/1155 socket difference...
Damn you SonDa5, i just ordered that board, damn peer pressure!!!
I guess i'll grab a 4790k when they hit local MicroCenter too, would be a waste of a board with just a 2600k :P
Thanks, looking through manuals it seems like this is true, only the last one is 1x mode, and its ossible to do 8x crossfire in slot 1 and 3. I'm currently running 8x crossfire mode with 2x 290s on a z68 board which is pcie 2.0 so going to 3.0 8x would double the bandwidth.
Hi there, i know the board has 4x x16 slots, that will run in 8x mode once you populate two of them. I'm interested in a new motherboard due to my old z68 having the 16x slots so close together my top 290 card cooks with the gellid cooler due to there being no room for the card to draw air and i...
