You could pull the HD out of the lappy and put it in an external enclosure. You'd be able to hook that sucker up to another PC and pull any files you need off the HD before you reformat it.

I don't think you're going to get a fast turnaround AND the credit. Either you go with emachines and get the fast turn around or you go with Best Buy and lose the laptop for a month or more.

With emachines you have to send it to them, but with the Best Buy warrenty you can just bring it in to them and swap it. To me, it's worth the extra money.

I like the 1280x800 of my M6811. I think it's pretty much "just right." Every great once in a while I see something I wish I had a little taller screen for, but not very often.

I would definitely go with the RAM upgrade. No question. The CPU upgrade will go almost unnoticed at all, while the RAM upgrade should make a noticeable difference. No question about it, go with the RAM.

I installed SP2 on my 6811 and have had ZERO problems. It works great and the new wireless features are really great as well.

I noticed the crack in my hinge last night. So, do I just bring it to Best Buy and ask them to swap it? Should I pack it up in its box before bringing it back? Is there anything special I need to tell them? I do have the Best Buy service plan.
