For anyone who might come across this thread later looking for a solution to a similar problem, reseating my RAM fixed everything. Just popped both RAM chips out, sprayed the dust off them, and put them back in.

The RAM (knew I forgot something) is Patriot XBLK TCCD. It doesn't look related to the hard drive (its a Raptor, so I can hear the thing spin up if I listen for it). Last time I formatted was two days ago when I reinstalled Windows after wiping Debian off the thing. Drivers should be up to...
I've finally gotten back to my desktop after after spending some quality time with my new Thinkpad, reinstalled Windows, and finally got around to buying Half Life 2. I've noticed however, that everything the computer does is skippy. By this I mean every second or so, the entire computer...
In my opinion, the Dell is by far the best choice. The performance loss from the Intel proc will be greatly made up by having twice as much video card in there.

Someone broke into my car and stole a bunch of stuff (including my CPU and mobo which I was going to send to someone here) so this is my "Make Zac no longer be completely broke thread."

I'm trying to find a PCMCIA slot that connects through USB. In particular, I want a way to use a PCMCIA 802.11 card with a 12" powerbook. Anyone have any idea if they make this?

You know, just because everyone says AMD processors are currently better performers in games doesn't mean they are amd fan-boys. Might just mean, you know, they are currently better than Intel in games. Its also really funny as you are definately the most blatant fan-boy on these forums.

I'm getting ready to buy a 12" I-Book or Powerbook (haven't decided yet), just wondering if anyone has tried running WoW on these things. I know they have a 5200, which in desktop form with run the game just fine, just wondering how well they work in the Apple laptops.

12" ibook. Fits the bill great, and with the student discount you should be able to afford to up the RAM also. Speaking as a current college student, don't get a desktop replacement, you WILL regret it later.

Wow, chronicbluntz420... Good job immediately making yourself out to be a !!!!!!. ATI won the last round of video cards, thats kind of a given. NVidia stumbled. They pulled it back together this gen, and ATI screwed up with the paper launch problem. But no, 9800s are not "ATI crap". Lay...
Really random and off topic, but my name is Zac also, and my girlfriend calls me Zeebs all the time. Seeing you really really freaked me out. Are you my Tyler Durden?

Christ, you guys jumped all over him without even bothering to read his post too. Sheesh. The guy was asking if it looked like a good deal since he was interested in purchasing it. To which I say, yes it does look pretty nice, I wish I hadn't just spent all my money on my damn computer or I'd...
Wait wait wait, you mean if someone made a monitor that combined all the positives of CRTs with all the positives of LCDs would people buy them? Umm... I'm with the last guy.

It was an alliance player that did it to the alliance AH. The spell was human bomb and does area of affect fire damage on every member of your faction. If a Horde player tried to do that it would have only killed him...
I used to play Gunbound (yeah, I know) a couple years back. Made an amazingly good drinking game. You miss, +1 shot, you miss an SS or dual, +2 shots. Kill someone, -1 shot for you, kill someone involved in the drinking game, +1 shot for them. You win the match, -1 shot, you loose, +1 shot...
Basically all I'm going to be using the thing for is hacking at code in the coffee houses on and around campus, and taking notes in classes etc. Gaming, CD burning, data storage, anything at all intense will be done on my desktop.

Getting ready to buy a 12" Mac laptop. I'm completely stuck on whether or not to get the Ibook or splurge on the Powerbook. I don't need any massive amount of upgrades on either. I don't need the Super Drive, bigger harddrive or anything like that. Only upgrade I'd get is more RAM for the...
Yeah thats a really really common scam I believe. I have no idea how it works, but craigslist warns you specifically about payments through wiring money whenever you put something up on there for sale. Ask for paypal specifically, if they say no, say sorry.

Friend of mine sent me this article the other day:

Interesting stuff. Haven't read completely through the research paper, but the implications are large. Thoughts?

I'm getting ready to downgrade my video card from a 6800Ultra to a 6800nu. Am I going to be able to just toss the thing in and go or should I run driver cleaner and reinstall the nvidia drivers?

Just because correct coding format in C++ is different than correct coding format in C does not mean its "very" different. Every single thing that works in C works in C++. Yes, C++ changes what the best way to go about solving a problem is, but this is because of the new features C++ ADDS to...
Everything that works in C will work in C++. They aren't really different languages as much as C++ is an addon to C. So yeah, if Borland doesn't compile C code something is really really wrong.
