Why did AMD take out the old custom resolution tool?
It was so easy to just grow/shrink/move a box around the screen.
I know there is CRU, but I've played with it and it's so guess-and-check.
Is there anything like the old CCC tool?
I assume I can't just install older CCC drivers on an RX 480?
JJ
Well, enabling Virtual Super Resolution did adjust the overscan on my 2160p TV (setting the pixel format to PC didn't fix it).
It did not adjust overscan on my 1080p projector.
I had to slide the HDMI Scaling bar.
But, when I changed the pixel format to PC, I had to slide the HDMI Scaling bar...
DDU did it!
I hadn't used it, before, so thanks for the tip.
I'm not sure if some old official driver was causing the problem, or the Microsoft version, but it's working.
I will note that they seem to have removed the ability to adjust overscan.
Now, they have a Virtual Super Resolution (or...
Hello, maybe you guys can help me out.
I'm on the Slow Ring of the Windows Insider program, so that could be the whole issue.
I have an MSI RX480 X 4G and all drivers, that I've tried, refuse to install.
The default Windows drivers work, just fine, but they don't allow for overscan adjustment...
The biggest question was with regard to the cooling.
Is there not a difference in the wider exhaust and 1 fan versus the narrower exhaust and 2 fans?
Are the 2 fans noticeably louder?
JJ
Hello...
I've been waiting to get an RX480 and now the market is flooded with aftermarket (IE...non-reference designs) versions.
Newegg has a couple of the new, 4GB, versions and an old, 8GB, version for similar pricing.
Just wondering on your thoughts.
It seems like the newer versions would...
The company is out of business, and has been for years.
It's just a printer utility that let's me see the ink levels.
The printer drivers only work with 32-bit Windows, so I'm stuck with Windows 7 32-bit.
This utility just only works with XP.
JJ
If it makes any difference, this looks to be my drive...
Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB Portable External Hard Drive with 200GB of Cloud Storage & Mobile Device Backup USB 3.0 - STDR2000101 (Silver)-Newegg.com...
I can say that the front USB 3.0 ports have issues, as well.
So far, the USB 3.1 port is the only one that seems 100%.
Well, the USB 2.0 ports are fine, but who wants to put an external SSD on those?
JJ
Someone else mentioned the power settings.
I went through and changed them, but it still happened.
It doesn't seem like it's going to sleep.
It will happen right in the middle of me working.
JJ
Hello...
I have an old disc printer, whose drivers and software were designed for Windows XP.
I can install the drivers, on Windows 7, but the program that shows ink levels doesn't seem to notice the printer (just says No Printers Installed, even though I can print with it).
Would anyone we...
I, now, have the motherboard in operation.
I think the U.2 port is a bit pointless (drives are just too expensive).
I think I'd rather have 2 M.2 ports.
With regard to the M.2 port, if anything is installed in it, it disables the second SATA-Express port (SATA 4/5).
That's a bummer, for me, as...
My installs didn't match your flashtbt 4 and run flashfw screenshots, either.
Of course, maybe the difference is that I don't have any thunderbolt devices.
Also, I don't have a Firmware section on my Device Manager.
JJ
I'm not using an SSD adapter.
It's an external Seagate drive (see above screenshots for drive information).
I'm also not using an M.2 adapter.
The M.2 slot is on the motherboard and it's a Samsung SM951.
I don't think the drives are the issue.
The issue seems to be on the motherboard side.
The...
Well, the front USB 3 ports had a failure, as well.
Maybe all the USB 3 ports are iffy, but the USB 3.1 port has performed flawlessly.
Of course, it uses a different controller.
I don't really want to go back to USB 2 speed, but I could try the drive on those ports to see.
JJ
Interestingly enough, both driver install files errored and said that it wasn't a supported operating system.
When I tried installing the drivers, through Device Manager, it said that the newest driver was already installed.
So, no advancement there.
JJ
Hmmm...
There are two USB 3 drivers...
USB 3.0 Driver: Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Intel® 8/9/100 Series and C220/C610 Chipset Family
Intel® USB 3.0 Host Controller Adaptation Driver for Windows 8.1*
The first one seems to be for Windows 7 and lower.
The second one...
I used a different rear USB 3 port and it failed, as well.
The issue seems to only be with the rear USB 3 ports (front USB 3 and rear USB 3.1 seem fine).
I'll try installing the USB 3 drivers, just to see if that makes a difference.
JJ
I've had the external ssd connected to the front USB 3 port, for a couple days.
I haven't noticed the drive disappearing or my keyboard/mouse turning off.
I'll try connecting the drive to some other ports.
Maybe it's just one bad port?
JJ
My external hard drive is connected to the USB 3 port not 3.1.
My understanding is the 3.1 port is fed from a different controller.
The Samsung is an M.2 card.
I did install the Thunderbolt Firmware buy I did not install the thunderbolt drivers.
I don't have any thunderbolt devices and I didn't...
I just purchased a Gigabyte Z170x-Ultra Gaming motherboard.
For some reason, every now and then, the USB connections disconnect/reconnect.
I have a USB 3 SSD, a USB 2/1 keyboard, and a USB 2/1 mouse.
I do a fair amount of work, from that hard drive, so I notice when it disappears.
My...
I have a MS800 (non-Plus).
I like the configuration of the non-Plus more (plus, it was less expensive).
I would, kind of, like the case window, though.
If anyone would like to swap my non-windowed panel for their windowed panel, I would be interested.
If someone wants to sell theirs, I might be...
I just ordered the Gigabyte z170x-Ultra Gaming motherboard.
Neither Newegg nor Amazon have reviews and there are only a couple website reviews.
It's only been out for a few weeks, but maybe someone has one.
