I have a 6800GT, my dad has the X800XL. I prefer ATIs image quality, especially at 4xAA. So all things being equal I would get an X800XL over a 6800GT. I bought my 6800GT cause i got a crazy good deal, but I am quite content with it.

I have a 6800GT AGP, my dad has a PCI-E (obviously) X800XL. They both kick ass, and are pretty much dead even. Some apps are known to run better on ATI, some on Nvidia. But to give you an idea, today, just to see, I played Far Cry @ 1600x1200, 4xAA, 8xAF, max in game settings on both systems...

at 1600x1200, i find Doom3 to run best @ either 2xAA or no AA. The extra RAM will help with the stutterring, but i feel that the performance loss isn't worth the minimal gain in IQ @ 4xAA.

Get the 6800 Ultra. Most games aren't SLI compatible. Sure the big ones like HL2, Far Cry, and Doom 3 are. But others like NFSU2 aren't. I would say your average performance across the board with all games would be higher with a 6800U.

Nice nice nice deal on the CompUSA X800XL. But again, the knock on ATI: AVAILABILITY = 0!!! I really like ATI cards, their AA IQ is second to none. But damn if you can't find a decent X800 card at a decent price, especially in PCI-E. Love the cards, hate the silicon (b/c of availability.)

For gaming, use the Ti 4400. The 5200 will barely play UT 03 @1024x768 at decent framerates, while the Ti 4400 does much better.
