Datacenter folks! Talk to me about doing a ground up build.

I didn't read the whole thing. However right off the bat I have a few questions. Where is this warehouse located? City, State. Have you considered co-locating your equipment? Water supply at the warehouse? Network interconnects? Multiple ISPs available? For cooling work with a...

    Paperless Office

One pitfall I can see is most states require company’s to store financial and employee records in hard copy for a certain period time. So this would not amount to a "paperless office." Just a thought. Good luck, its a great idea and can save company’s a lot of money on toner and...

    Monitor traffic?

I would think your internet security would have some sort of application to show you whats using the network. Zone Alarm and Comodo software firewalls that I have used have those features. As for the likly hood of someone "stealing" your data is slim. Unless you have something they want, then...

My Mac (OS X 10.5.3) can't see windows shares!

We just had a Windows AD printing issue on a Mac. They were on 10.5.2 and it would not print no matter what we tried. Upgrade to 10.5.4 and it works perfect now. There was apparently a problem with .2 on a few forums I read... Good luck.

    Footprints?

I have used Track-It, the companys application based ticketing system. It worked very well, besides the client was very fat. Lots of options and with Footprints I believe has a much much better emailing system. So I can email the ticketing system and it will update the ticket so on and so...

My ISP is "managing" my internet traffic; read: "slower than dial-up" latency

I was wondering the same thing... Only thing you can improve is the DNS query response even then its only a matter of milliseconds... See if you can talk to a higher level tech or something. But that sometimes does not get you where you should be. Call them up asking to get uncapped then if...
