Since I came in after our network rollout, I am at a loss on what I should do to roll out IOS upgrades to our 60+ locations. The inital rollout did not implement any UPS solution or OOBM solutions such as modems at the sites. For the few site I needed to upgrade, I sent out a laptop and a...
Have you tried hooking your PS3 right into your DSL / Modem? If you still get disconnects from there you can narrow it down to a faulty modem or ISP. I had simliar issues with Comcast until they fixed the cable in my neighborhood.
Easiest solution would be changing the port that is used to access OWA, but you said you did not want to change that. The only other solution I can think of, is to use host headers.
Is there some kind of limititation that another public ip can't be used? I thought you said you have 5.
Don't think the 754's had any winchesters. I know AMD released 754 venice's, so that is what he must have. I have thought about replacing my 3400+ Newcastle with a venice, but I just could not justify the price.
Even though I have 5 x2's, and really like AMD products, I want to test a C2D.
Go to RUN
type control userpasswords2
click off users must enter username/password .....
That should fix you up... As mentioned before, some Autoupdates foobar the automagical login.
Only if you have money to burn. LOL.
J/K, you will be fine just upgrading your 939. Now if you wanted to upgrade your ram or go to SLI/CF MB, I would say go AM2 since CPU's are cheap now. For immediate gratification I would just get a dual core 939.
Thanks! Great idea, I have a few 80gb's SATA drives laying around too, so I will throw one of them in. That makes great sense since so I don't have to worry about the media stuff if I decide to play with the OS.
Okay, I'm kind a noob when it comes to the HTPC realm, I have alot of spare parts laying around and decided to make use of it. Please make any comments or suggestions on any of the software / hardware configuration.
Hardware:
Case: NMEDIAPC 400SA w/FSP 400w PSU
MB: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum...
It just amazes me that people take stock in anything the inq has to say. The whole reverse hyperthreading thing would be something AMD would have to do now, and not down the road in a future core. It will be irrelevent before it, if it ever, comes out.
Wait until Conroe comes out. Period.
Conroe's performance looks impressive and AMD plans substantial price drops the day after Conroe is released. So it's a win-win situation.
The landscape maybe very different once the DX10 cards actually debut, since it's going to be quite a ways down...
I don't think he ever said it was a review. It showed me that the lower clocked processors have headroom without much effort. The 4200+ (~ $350) at almost FX62 (~ $1000+) speeds. It wasn't biased, and I think the picture was included to show that it was hacked setup. If it was a true review...
That's an easy answer, AMD would most likely be non-existant without Intel. I am not criticizing Intel. I am just wondering what kind of relationship Intel and AMD has. I would think that Intel gets a some reimbustment for licensing the technology to them. I can't imagine that Intel doesn't...
Poncho,
How much of the technology does AMD license from Intel? Any idea? Just wondering, since I see that as one of the reasons AMD can be comptetive with Intel. They don't, and aren't required to develop many of the features/technologies of their CPU design. They take some from Intel...
The other thing people don't realize is that the majority of OEM's that are selling X2's are mostly only selling 512kb models. For the workstation/enthusiast market there will be AM2 Opterons (Santa Ana). So there is no worry if you want a non-FX AM2 1mb dual core chip.
HighTest's post got me thinking.
I think AMD's response to Conroe will be released near Vista's launch. This makes perfect sence. Intel wasn't happy that Vista got delayed and was hoping Conroe would somewhat coincide with Vista's launch. Now, if I was AMD, I would launch desktop K8L's...
LOL beat me by 2 minutes.
4x4 is supposed to be out before K8L, so my theory would be that if, and a big IF, AMD had the automagical reverse hyperthreading technology, that they can implement it with a coprocessor until K8L was released, where it may or may not be done on the core.
I kind of agree with the above post. 4x4 would appeal to me if the whole "reverse hyperthreading" theory was implemented. I wonder if one of the "coprocessors" may accomplish this.... If so, the announcement makes sense, I don't see the point in buying 2 FX processors when quad-cores are right...
I would think if AMD did release faster 939 processors it would be in attempt to get current socket 939 owners not to jump ship since AM2 performance is not earth shattering. Although the enthusiast market that would actually upgrade their processor is reletively small. IMO, intel demoed the...
Another way that I use for a few macs is to set it up as a cron job:
@reboot /Users/username/fah5 -forceasm -advmethods
to edit the crontab type crontab -e
Press insert
type in the command
Press Escape
:w to write the file
:q to quit vi
Wow,
I thought my UPS's was just getting old, so I replaced the batteries. I have two seasonic s12 600 on a APC 1400 and it just goes on overload. On another APC 1400 I have 4 x2's with various PSU's, none with active PFC. Maybe something with APC UPS's and active PFC don't play well...
The Turion is 25w. Also since the case is going to enclosed in a cabinet, I would probably put in a some sort of case fan. My preference was the Papst 4412FGL which is silent at 7v.
I don't know if I would recommend an XP-90. I think it may be really easy to damage the cpu with the retention mechanism. My choice for my htpc was the SLK-948u, because it bolts on to the MB, but it is difficult to find now.
I would recommend this Mobo - MSI RS482m-IL
This HeatsinkThermalright HR-01
This CPU - AMD Turion 64 Mobile MT40
There maybe a choice for a heatsink, but you have to be careful because the turions are naked.
Check out Silent PC Review for some good reading.
Anyone have any luck with this board and dual channel mode? I have tried 3 different bios, 4 different dual channel kits, and three different cpus and I cannot get this thing to do dual channel. Any time I put memory in slots 1-2 or 3-4 (MSI's dual channel config), the machine refuses to boot...
I am not disputing the benchmarks. You are way too defensive.
My point was that Intel has ton a hell of a job creating (a worthy) buzz around Conroe, and that AMD should be taking notes. Wasn't that the point in showcasing Conroe 6 months before you can buy it? I have always thought AMD...
I am not making assumptions of saying Conroe is X percent faster than a core F processor that will be released 6 months from now, and I am not comparing Yonah/Dothan to the X2/FX. When I said that much better, I meant what the current conroe benchmarks claim compared to probable AMD...
That was sort of my point when I started this thread. I guess it could of said F Core or Revision F, but AM2 seemed to be descriptive enough. The fact is, it is a revision, nothing majorly new, still hoping they throw in some unannounced improvements.
Hopefully Conroe will bring us back to...
Sounds like more of an issue that you are maxing out your IO bandwidth, rather than your CPU. Think of it this way. If you are copying a 1 gb file, then you try to copy another, do they copy at the same speed? No. Is it maxing out the CPU? No. Even with dual core, there are other...
Looks like it is Samsung DDR2 533.
http://www.samsung.com/Products/Semiconductor/DDR_DDR2/DDR2SDRAM/Module/UnbufferedDIMM/M378T2953BG0/M378T2953BG0.htm
Hope you didn't push too hard trying to get them in!
Why is this?   AMD is very tight-lipped about their future plans, as no one knows what AMD's response to Conroe will be.
When you reapply AS5, just follow the instructions. Put a small dab on and let the pressure between the heatsink and IHS spread it out...
The other thing as suggested is to check that XP-90 to see if it is pretty flat. I have had about 3 xp-120's that were far from being flat.
