Hehe, yeah, it is opposite with me, vertical it clicks, flat its been running completely fine. The bummer is that its not throwing errors in seagate's utility, so I cant warranty.
Yeah, I know I cant move it on its side, this was all done with the machine powered down. The power and sata connectors have been changed, but...I didnt try new psu or different sata port.
The thing is the same power and sata port, work when it is lying flat, only on its side does it 'click'...
Hi All,
I have a weird situation. I have a homemade Freenas Server. It has a drive that is going bad (kept dropping, and only reboot would fix).
So I decided to move it to a cooler area, and as a result, turned the tower on its side for better ventilation. However, Once this happened...
My reasoning was that its still the same locked system, I still have to log into domain etc. Its just different hardware.
Well, I guess this won't work and I will try to cope.
Heh, well, see, I dont mind having a locked down system. Everything, programs, security, will still be on the machine. I am just trying to use a different machine.
Hi Guys,
Need some technical help on this. Its a particular situation that does not seem to be addressed using google.
I work at this company that provides a company laptop. The company laptop is this beast of a 15" dell "laptop". As a company laptop, it is locked down to pretty much...
The AOC Q2770QPU is available for the same price, so I might add that to my considerations over the Asus and the Philips, its 100RMB cheaper too! thanks!
In RMB>
DELL is 4300
ASUS is 5000
PHILIPS is 3000
HKC is 1600
I don't know why the asus is more than the dell, but it is the 1440p one, PB278Q. I think I have a typo in my original post (287)
Yeah, so a friend has the PB287Q. He says it is great, but the Dell ends up being cheaper, which is why the asus was not included in my considerations.
Hi Guys,
I am currently living overseas in China, so my monitor choices are limited. But I do have options, so I wanted to ask you guys regarding some monitor choices. I used to have a 27" iMac, no fanboy, but the IPS screen was amazing to me. So for my pc I decided to go 27" as well. I...
I would look at the hinges first, I assume one of them is slightly bent, you should be able to see the damage on the outside if it had enough force to bend one of the hinges.
Although unsightly, I would also confirm that the official apple adapters work like a charm.
however, if you are looking at replacing all of them, and are a fan of iHome, just get the updated iHomes:

a fairly safe bet is to order from ifixit.com or OWC which are very reputable vendors.
Otherwise find the part and Ebay it. do you know if its not the GPU thats shattered and just the screen thats posing the problem?
Heh, unfortunately I don't (can't) own a weapon in my part of the world. That would have been fun..
It is out of warranty, 1.5TB but I've had the drive for 5 years. Throwing smart errors but seems to be working, so I might use it as a secondary backup.
But I would have liked to shoot it....
I have a home nas running Freenas that is very good. However, I have 1 drive that has been giving me bootup and smart errors for the past month. The pool scrubs fine, and is being reported healthy. If it fails to get detected usually a reboot will work and it will run 3-4 weeks no problem...
Yeah, the chances of a backdoor affecting individual home users is small. However, having a back door is just plain bad. I will probably pick up a 2.4ghz and wait for the new specs to be ratified before picking up a 2nd gen 11ac.
I figured I could get the router up and just wait for the...
thats what I am here for. Opinions!
Like I said, I have had good service from my previous d-link so I hold no bias against it. But good point. I might have to skip the first gen AC
Hi guys,
I am currently shopping for a new router and figured I'd just take the chance to upgrade to 11ac.
Previously I had a D-Link DIR-619, it has served me perfectly, and it is actually being put into retirement at my in-laws. So I am sure it will serve them well too. I have no...
I just started building my home NAS and using a paltry AMD X2, so I might not be able to give you the best advice for someone that is needs that much drives.
I just set up my freenas server using 4x 1.5TB drives and as a novice, I must say it is pretty straight forward and easy. Read the...
Yeah, assuming you have a mac, go get a program called Subler.
Subler will allow you to search for movie meta tags online and save them to all the files you have. Really great program, I have labeled and info'ed all of my movies with beautiful movie posters.
Buy a backup HDD using thunderbolt or usb3. and back up your stuff.
IF it is really REALLY important information, have you thought about networked offsite storage? Dropbox, box all will be able to meet your storage requirements. Google Drive has 1TB networked storage for $50 a month.
I have an ATV 3 and I have pretty much surrendered to re-encoding my entire library. There are work arounds but nothing is as elegent as ATV homesharing from iTunes.
Seeing that you have Airvideo, I would assume you have an ipad. A simple but ugly workaround would be just Stream to your...
Never used either. But I do know of the weird acceleration you are talking about. I experience that with my G500, so I would assume it is the same with the G700 as well. I got rid of it by buying Steer Mouse, which will allow you to control and get rid of mouse acceleration.
I would say a G700 for wireless as well. I use the G500 wired version and it is great.
However, if you are on a mac, I would also throw in a recommendation for a magic trackpad. That thing is the single best thing for multigesture computer control I have ever used for non-gaming.
Yep. I think the only advantage of buying off contract is the unlocked phone and you are not locked into a contract for 2 years. This means you can move to different carriers whenever. However, if you are planning to stay with the plan/company, then it makes no sense to NOT subsidize/upgrade...
so far i found that double tap doesnt lock the window, so i have to use 3 finger drag. forward and backwards with webpages is also different because SL used the 3 finger swipe.
So in essence, I have to update to lion on my imac if I wanted to maintain the same gestures?
So this is really annoying me. I just picked up an air, and the gestures are different than a magic trackpad. I don't mind relearning the gestures, but is there any way for me to have one centralized gesture system? My iMac is still on snow leopard, so I'm not sure if the gestures have...
Thats exactly it. I disabled Swype, but didn't know you had to change the input method to touch.
Thanks guys, worked exactly like that. We got the Chinese up and running. yay.
You can just pay the restocking fee if you feel like it. If i remember correctly, the fee is listed directly on your Apple Receipt. But if you are outside the allowed time, I don't think they have an official policy in place.
I'm not really saying there were no good SP shooters, obviously i loved a few of the ones you mentioned. What I was referring to was Final Fantasy Style (XIII specifically), where you were running around a "1-way cave system" for the first 10hours. No matter what anyone tells me, a 100 hour...
A quick google search brought this up
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/stats/macbook-core-2-duo-2.1-white-13-early-2008-penryn-specs.html
I think this is your macbook? If so it seems like it would be even able to take up to 6gb. It is very weird that it must have one of the old...
I find that it depends on your tastes, I get a LOT more out of multiplayer, many many nights of fun combat and game modes. We've gotten well over 100 hours of Battlefield 2, and it had NO singleplayer campaign. The reason COD and BF are popular is due to their multiplayer capabilities, and can...
Thanks for that input, I will give it a try next time i get my hands on it.
What completely threw me off my hunt was that i was getting options for Chinese Input, as in, how do you want to input, traditional or simplified chinese, and how you want your dictionary to fix fuzzy words. Having...
Hi Guys,
I'm an iphone user so this is a little out of my understanding, but I thought someone would know how to do this.
My friend has a MyTouch from T-mobile with swype installed. She is chinese and so would like to have the Chinese input like my iphone does. I went into settings...
take it to the apple store? They will tell you what is broken, and try to charge you $53622325506678 to fix it. you can just decline and say no.
and then you will know what is wrong.
