It's a CPU. I don't think I've put much thought into any CPU I've had since the serious overclocking era like 20 years ago. That's across both companies. I just keep buying Corsair RAM and either mid-level MSI or Asus boards and they all just kinda work.
I think it's probably the 2nd best one behind both versions of RE4. It does a good job of walking the line between "you have no resources and have to sneak around" vs. just mowing everything down like RE5 and RE6. RE7 is good, too. RE8 is a direct sequel to it, although their settings = very...
Out of boredom, I finally jumped through the hoops to unlock the Chicago Sweeper. What a colossal disappointment. Especially considering you probably used the unlimited rocket launcher to unlock the damned thing. Unlike the original game's Chicago Typewriter, it's not that strong or that...
Hopefully I'll be playing Dragon's Dogma 2 this coming weekend. I went from "meh" to super excited after some recent videos have been shown. The first game didn't excite me much, but this game looks like a next-gen Souls title.
Feels like they never discount anything I've been meaning to buy but was hoping for a sale. It's always games I bought a long time ago or couldn't care less about. Epic's sales have been much better for me, IMO.
Finally gave this a go via Gamepass. It's definitely a dud. The game is similar to the older Batman titles, but things are slower, less fluid, and generally clunkier. It feels like they decided to copy Assassin's Creed's slight move into the "Souls-like" gameplay world, too. Rather than mashing...
Giving Gotham Knights a try since it's on Gamepass. If it sucks, it's no big deal to just uninstall it and move on. I'm pretty much just killing time prior to Dragon's Dogma 2 next week. If GK isn't worth playing I might just replay Village or RE7 again.
EDIT: Not feeling Gotham Knights at all...
I've been using a linear model G915 for a few years and I really like it. IMO, the only real issue is that the various symbols (shift + number keys) don't light up. I still screw those up like 1/2 the time since I don't use 'em all that much.
It's worth noting that the newer versions of...
Feels like I'm fortunate to just be happy with a plain 'ol PS5 pad. Once I learned to play Street Fighter 2 on a SNES pad, it's been pretty seamless to play any other fighting game with a pad. In the case of Tekken, I played the old games on the PS just as much as the arcade. I occasionally hit...
It's always interesting when you play a random other player and they're in love with a move you've never seen before. Especially if it's a hidden gem move. Over the last couple days I've run into players using Paul, Law, and Dragunov and they were going ham with moves I'd never seen before...and...
Street Fighter 5 is the black sheep of the Street Fighter universe on so many levels. This just piles on a little more. Even the people who liked it (and didn't/don't like SF6) still couldn't wait to move on from it ASAP.
Here's what someone involved with the project had to say about it: https://www.neowin.net/news/android-app-support-on-windows-11-was-seemingly-doomed-from-the-start/
"Honestly when Google walked away the nails were in the coffin"
That pretty much tells the tale right there. The Amazon Android...
Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways DLC (PC)
This isn't a full game, but is instead a DLC for the Resident Evil 4 remake from last year. In it you play through the same story from the main game, but from the perspective of Ada Wong rather than Leon and Ashley. If you've played through the main story...
It's very similar to the last few. Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, etc.
Souls'ish gameplay (weak attack, strong attack, block, parry, dodge) in an open world.
Depending on when you bailed from the AC series, that could be a good thing. They were in a bit of a rut before Origins overhauled the melee...
I'm all for the games they're bringing out in a timely manner. I'm not going to wait multiple years for anything, especially with how good PS5 games already look.
IMO this is entirely because the Amazon store totally sucks ass. It's the online store equivalent of the Nintendo section at Wal-Mart. 2-3 recognizable items and wall-to-wall shovelware.
If there was an officially supported way to download and run apps like Gmail, Calendar, Tasks, Photos, etc...
Tsushima is/was super derivative, but is still a good game. I snagged it via the (rare) PSN sale a couple years ago and had fun with it for a few weeks. If you like the last 4 Assassin's Creed games, it might as well be one of them.
Thanks! I'm not seeing anything I'd ever need/use. I still use [email protected] to setup offline accounts in the Home version, which would be the one perk of interest.
Out of curiosity, what does Windows 11 Pro offer that Home doesn't? I had a version of 10 that activated to Pro seemingly by accident (an MS rep gave it to me over the phone) and it felt like mostly network admin stuff.
I finally got around to playing RE4: Separate Ways, and I think it's extremely good. After Shadows of Rose in Village (which was "meh" at best), this is back on par with what they gave us in RE7. Yes, they're reusing areas from the main game, but that's essentially the whole point. There's a lot...
Resident Evil 4's Separate Ways DLC. It's not too bad so far and it's quite the challenge. They're hitting you with endgame-level bosses with minimal gear.
I don't think it's unbalanced or broken, I just think it's lame. Throws were the designed hard counter to people who were attack reversal happy. Worst case, you could chicken them to keep them honest, too. It's a style of play I strongly dislike and it doesn't seem like there's a designed way to...
Today I learned that Jun's reversal stops grabs. She snags your arms almost like you were punching her. I guess they full-on removed the "chicken" reversal counter in Tekken 8, too. This is wack.
I'm fortunate that the company I work for has a pair of decent production-level printers. I only need to print something 1-2 times per year and it comes in handy in those instances. Otherwise I'd probably just go to a FedEx office location and pay way too much for the same thing.
$35 for this game seems fair. If nothing else, it's long and there's a lot to do. It doesn't make the game any better or technically sound, but it's an easier pill to swallow than $60.
Ed is now available, and they actually made a few balance changes with the update as well: https://www.streetfighter.com/6/buckler/information/detail/battle_change20240227
Nothing huge, but JP and Luke got some nerfs while Jamie and Ryu got some buffs. I think I'm still kinda done with SF6 until...
I don't necessarily think there's a ton of need for it, but I suppose it depends on what it's bringing to the table. 120FPS is pretty awesome when properly supported, so there's that. There's a lot of talk about some exclusive upscaling tech that won't be available on the normal models.
I sold...
I definitely get it, but it seems like it's more of an issue with damage scaling than anything else. It's like the scaling seems to be working fine and then when they hit the wall - BAM, it goes back to normal.
I've only been playing King, but I don't really even use his heat engager as a combo tool very often. His heat meter is basically a mixup tool with grabs in nearly every scenario...even if they block. When I use it, that's what I have in mind. I'd rather have that mixup in my pocket instead of...
Going back to the Resident Evil 4 remake and nuking everything with the limitless rocket launcher. It feels good just to annihilate everything in your path, and I'm using it to unlock some of the stuff I didn't before.
I'm also putting in some rounds with Tekken 8, too.
I ended up going straight-up strength, too. In my case, I went with the Sword of Skin and Tooth, which mimicks a lot of my favorite Dark Souls big swords. Not clue about maximizing stats necessarily, but I stopped when I got 50 in strength and vitality. At that point I just slowly filled in the...
Lords of the Fallen 2023 (aka. Lords of the Fallen 2), PC
Like the original game of the same name from 2014, this is a "Souls-like" title with large/deliberate weapons, rolling, discovery hidden loot, and fighting giant challenging bosses. Gameplay-wise, it should feel familiar to anyone who...
Whew, finally done with this game. Seems like there's a bunch of shit I didn't do or know about, but I don't have any desire to play it again to find out. The game does definitely improve in the later sections, although the final level might as well just be called "you vs. fire." The bosses for...
I generally don't give Jin any room to breathe and I haven't fought that many. Devil Jin tends to throw me off for the first round/match, but I feel like I can mostly figure out his tricks if they don't bail after one match. He and Alisa are like the Blanka of Tekken. Jun is a total bitch...
Well, I could go through all the trouble to close all that stuff, re-open it all later and and reboot constantly...or just fire up a game and not notice or care 99% of the time. Teams is the only program I've ever had any issues with while gaming, and sometimes I do close it. With the other...
Right now the only program I occasionally need to close is Teams. It causes some games to go absolutely berserk when you get a Teams pop-up message mid-game. Usually games that use exclusive fullscreen, but not all of 'em...and occasionally on borderless, too. With those, I just set a timer on...
I always used to do that stuff until I started working from home on my gaming machine. Now I'll fire up AAA games while Teams, Chrome, Word, 2-3 Adobe Suite programs, etc. are all running...and it rarely matters at all. Those videos where Linus tests gaming performance while bloatware is running...
Personally, I just want all the typical functions I use in one place. The NV Control Panel kinda/sorta does that, although it spreads everything across a pile of different tabs. It's missing the overlay stuff (and the ability to tweak HDR settings), but it's fine. It's just slow, old, and with a...
