    Potato-Powered Batteries

After producing ethanol the distiller's grain is still fed to livestock. It is not like ALL the corn is used to make fuel for our vehicles. Growing food to feed livestock is a tremendous waste of resources, we should just stop breeding livestock and strictly grow food for ourselves.

    Potato-Powered Batteries

I am curious how they are going to keep replenishing the zinc that gets used, using a potato as an electrolyte isn't a major breakthrough. Whats next? Harnessing the power of pasta?

    Soldering stations?

You can find an older model, PS-01, on Ebay for about $100. The nicer MX500 will run about $200-$250. I use a PS-01 and it is a dream.

    a different PS?

I would go with option 2. Although the wall charger can output up to 1A, the charger will only use what it needs, the 900mA. A computer USB is limited to generally under 500mA.

    LED help.

I feel there is zero risk putting a series resistor with your LED. I can look, but if I manage to find a 3.3v orange LED it will just have a resistor built in anyways.

    Motor Issues...

What kind of motor is it? Induction, brushed, brushless? 3 phases are used for larger motors, I think anything over 2-3 hp is almost always 3 phase. The only thing I could think of short of doing phase conversion, is using a variable frequency drive for your 3 phase motor. The issue with...
