I've tried the shortcut trick, and the config.wtf trick--neither work. The config reverts back to the older one, and the in-game check says D3D9.
I'm running a GTX 460 with the latest nvidia drivers. Why won't WoW hold the DX11 settings? I've seen a couple people with the same problem...?
Yes, I'm interested in this too.
I'm running Windows 7 32-bit, and it says only 2.99GB of my 4GB DDR3 ram is usable. How can I use/enable that additional 1GB without upgrading to 64-bit?
EDIT; RamDisk sounds interesting. Thanks for the pro-tip.
Yeah you know, I grabbed a GTX 460 for $200. I can run every game at 1080 (newer ones: AA off).
I've spent a lot of time jumping from $200 cards to $400-500 cards. I honestly feel these days (especially considering the 460) you can drop $200 and get a solid card that'll last you 2 years and...
I was pretty surprised by the demo.
The violence (in particular, during the cutscenes) is rough and uncompromising. It reminded me of those brutal rated-R action movies of yesteryear before all the 14A we see now.
The cover system is a tad flaky but the gunplay is solid and the game is brutal...
I recently bought an OCZ StealthStream with a LianLi case. The case places the PSU at the bottom, and given the short cables, I've found the P3 cable does not reach the plug on my MSI mobo.
So, before I return this for another PSU, can I by PSU extension cables for the P3 plug? If so, where...
Cool, thanks for the advice. I think I'll swing a 5770 instead. Including the upgrade PSU a 460 looks to be about $80 more--and I'm on a budget.
Oh the rig in my sig? Hah, yeah that was from a long time ago. I switched to Mac about 3 years ago, now I'm switching back ;)
I just got a OCZ SilentStream 500w PSU. Will a non-OC'd MSI 460GTX run with it? If I go this route I imagine I can't OC, would it be better to bite on a Vapor-X 5770 and OC it with this PSU?
Thanks for the advice.
I'm grabbing the MSI P55G55 MoBo with it's OC Genie.
I'm interested in using this feature, but it notes you should use 1.65v RAM quote:
So I've been looking at these Cosair sticks running at PC1600, 7-8-7-20 1.65v compared to this interesting pair of G.SKILLS, similar timings same speed...
Hey guys, really simple memory question, pardon me if it's answered in the FAQ, I couldn't find it:
If I use 533Mhz ram on a mobo who's lowest speed is 667 will the ram still work? If it does will it be pushed up to 667 or stay at 533?
Thanks!
Okay, so my buddy who's basically made of money just bought this card thinking "It's the most expensive, it must be the best!!" He paid $1300 for it.
=/
I'm trying to convince him to return it but he's bent on gaming with it. Is gaming possible? What kind of FPS' would he hit with this...
...AquaMark 3?! The sites been down for a while now, did they just give up on it? Was there a legit reason or did they get lazy and not want to upkeep AM3? I need the AM3 patch for the NF4 mobo's, and since their site is down where can I get that patch from?
Thanks!
I tried running the CoD2 demo with my new X800GT. The problem is right when the game loads my computer locks up with a blue screen. I have to run it in safe mode to play the game. What setting is causing my system to crash? Would it be memory based or my video card? My specs:
AMD 3000+...
I'm trying to buy a budget computer, it'll be an AGP slotter as well, so which video card is the best choice? I'd like something that'll run Half Life 2 and Battlefield 2 smoothly.
9600 XT
6200 256MB
(or any other nVidia/ATi equivilent under $100ish)
Thanks for the help!
Alright, I just got a X800XT shipped to me. At the time of writing I could not find a PE that wasn't $100 more then what I paid for the XT. Anyway, it's a PowerColor. Has anyone been sucessful in achieving PE speeds with an XT on stock cooling? Will I need a NV Silencer?
Also, I realize...
I'm curious if the nVidia glow technology is exclusive to the nVidia range of cards. This feature can be found in most of the newer games starting with Tron 2.0 and most recently, World of Warcraft (you have to enable it in the options). Does the glow work on X800 cards as well?
Thanks!
Yeah, I never had this problem with my ASUS A7N8X. I'm using 67.03 drivers. I knew HL2 had that problem, so I didn't worry about it until WoW did it. Usually the game freezes, I press Ctrl+Alt+Del and click cancel. The game goes back to normal. I do have SP2 installed though =S I'll give...
Okay, my AGP Arp. is at 256. Fast Writes off. This time it pauses, then my monitor loses the signel and turns off. Resetting the computer fixes this. So if the monitor turns off during the pause it must be because it's losing the signal from the video card no?
Any help would be awesome =)
I have a BFG 6800 GT, currently not OC'ed. When I play WoW / CS:S sometimes the game pauses for a few seconds and the sound repeats. Usually gameplay resumes, but sometimes I have to alt-tab out, then back in for it to work. I have a feeling it's my BFG messing up. It's a horrible OC'er and...
Yeah, my friend had a ATi X600 PowerColor. We tried turning up the clocks a little bit but nothing substantial came out of it. We upped the clocks about 15Mhz, then went back to stock. A few weeks later his card burnt out! What's the deal? I've gone though a 9800Pro, 6800NU and a 6800GT...
If it ever kills my system I'll be the first one in here giving a shout out to everyone at [H] that the XConnect's suck. Until then, it's been the best PSU I've ever used ;) Overclocking has been much easier on this then my OEM :D
ComputerPro, I appreciate your summarization of the review, but I'd like to point out that no where in that review is it said the Ultra is an 'utter failure', or 'just another PowMax'.
Heres right from your own review:
This quote can be either a plus or minus. To me...
When I initially posted this topic I tried to avoid mentioning the actual PSU itself, because I knew rather then getting help I would have been subjected to a lot of Ultra bashing.
I was right. The second I said I had an Ultra the only advice I received was "omgz itz a PWOMAX!!". That does...
Yeah, that's true. I've heard the dual rails amount to little if anything. Antec's cable management isn't that great either, plus I like OCZ's dedicated VGA cable.
Either way, the more I read about the two the more it's apparent that you can't go wrong with either ;)
Yes, it's a powmax. And that means nothing. Sure they've had bad PSU's in the past, but the X-Connect has good very good reviews and awards. A good friend of mine has had an X-Connect since release--the blue one. It has not faultered from it's promised 12.2 rail since he's gotten it. Now...
Meh, I read all the advice threads, and heard a lot about PSU brands, but from friends who had them, and good reviews I went with the XConnect. PC&C wasn't an option and the PowerStream I heard has a bad life cycle.
Anyway, I'm happy with my purchase, it's doing what I wanted and in the...
