It will be a performance boost that's for sure, but I can't guarantee that its as good as going from 1900xt to 8800gts. But looking at the cool games coming out for PC next months, I say its a good year for upgrading.

280gtx is built for fools. I can see why some would buy the 260 over 4870/4850 (although I don't agree), but with 4870x2 around there is no reason to waste money on the 280gtx.

x800xt > 7900GTX(laptop) > HD4850 first to second, smoother gaming but not a leap, second to third, day and night change :p

I've got a friend running 9600gt with non-branded 400W PSU that came with the $20 case. So go ahead my friend and get a 9600gt, it should work perfectly with your 450W PSU.

Seriously, only fools would be buying 4870 over 4850. Performance difference is w---------a---------y less than price difference. If you got mobo that supports CF buy two 4850, or one now and another at later time. If your mobo doesn't have CF then 4870x2 is your friend.

I got the same spec you have (except my card is x800xt). I do have enough money for a huge upgrade but I won't wast them now. I plan to wait for a real upgrade when the new intel core 2 duo CPUs out this summer and get a DX10 card for future games and windows vista. Ah and btw I'm WoW...

I have the exact same problem with WoW.. I solve it by removing one of the 2 memory sticks (I have 2x512mb) so I play with only 512mb of ram... it's weird but that works with me..

Your 3500+ is better than X2 3800 in gaming... If you are planning to upgrade get fx57 or at least X2 4400 And for now work hard on OCing your 3500+...
