AMD drivers come a long way? I haven't owned an ATI card since the X1900XTX and the drivers made me sell it. I've been on the hunt too, still happy with my 1060 6gb card for now.
Please note: when you overclock this way, you overclock the BUS side of the chip, which puts strain on your motherboard and increases the RAM speed and everything's clock speed. Give how old 1155 boards are and how hard they are to get--I don't recommend this. Your gaining a whole 400mhz per...
since you have a similiar system to mine, I'll share that I spent the money to get the 1060. Between that and the SSD (and windows 10) its almost like a new rig. Definitely worth it.
90% of the shows I watch keep 5 episodes on their website I can watch for free with minimal ads.
The others...netflix normally picks them up and I binge.
So besides netflix...I don't pay for TV.
I admit, I don't watch much sports and college sports (save march madness) is the only thing...
I think a major issue is the age of the engine. The Source Engine was ground breaking in its time--now its old hat, and while we can look at it with rose colored glasses and say "it aged well" (which I admit...it did in alot of ways), its hard to just release a game with an old engine.
I...
Valve doesn't make games anymore.
They distribute games at 'meh' prices.
Basically, they exist because they were first and publisher friendly. If it only housed Valve games I don't think I would even have steam installed on my PC.
I think nforce 4 was probably the greatest for me. My X2 4800 lasted almost 7 years in that platform. It was really the platform that gave birth to SLI (that I can recall) and SATA 2.0.
Doomfist is overpowered with his 1-hit combo. Its Roadhog with hook 1.0.
I'm pretty pissed he even is available in Comp--dude should still be in PTR.

same. This season has been utter shit. I placed in gold and have 1 draw, 1 win 5 losses this season. of the 5 losses, one player was throwing for two of them (teleports to cliffs, battle mercy, etc.), two were close (and good games), and the other one we had a crappy comp with no one on voice...
I went through dozens of cards in the old days (AGP) and if they were remanufactured or used for Folding or something they tended to have issues. I haven't bothered wasting my time nor money since then. I buy gently used or buy new only. I tend to keep GPUs for a while.
Here is my problem with the sampler: its costs $9.99. Sure it doesn't sound like much, but...I picked up my G610 Brown for 79.99. So if I didn't know what I wanted, I would of spent 12.4% more trying to figure it out. If you are buying $200 keyboards it makes sense, but for bottom barrel...
Nope, socket A was my first personal build.
I am not as much fond of the platform but rather the time it was. Socket A represents the most LAN parties, UT2004, CS1.6, CODUO, a wonderful ATI 9800pro (that everyone also owned), and heavily modified cases. It was a time when you would meet up...
Please keep in mind:
1. Not all of us have 100mb cable or internet.
2. Comcast, AT&T and many others have data caps now.
So, no. It really isn't.
Once 4K becomes more mainstream--that won't make sense either.
Network streamable...yes. Internet streaming is what I was talking about.
it is not the time to ditch optical media. Sorry, it simply isn't. I run a HTPC with bluray rips. My rips are between 10gb-15gb, full audio pass through as well. This isn't streamable, and with bandwidth limits, etc....its annoying to stream movies nowdays.
So, I appreciate the case...
depending on how close you sit to your monitor I recommend the 24", its cheaper, it is not as big of a panel so you have more of the 'data' in your eyes easier. I can understand how large monitors give you that 'immersion', but for competitive play I don't think it makes a ton of sense.
I...
I think you can check the blizzard's app settings.
You can change the setting to 'automatically join' to something else in Overwatch, but there is nothing to stop him from turning it back on.
The chat can be hidden and I think it stays hidden. I forgot the shortcut offhand, but you can find...
The 2600k will do fine if your holding out for something. To be fair, everyone is having issues with "Battlegrounds".
The only time I feel like my processor sucks is for encoding. Most other tasks it handles fine.
Times changed, games used to be sharable (maybe not playing online, but at a LAN). Now everything is locked up, download only. Some sort of cancerous hell-hole.
I reached out to my old LAN buddies, its been 10 years but hey why not...after quick discussion, most people didn't want to spend...
Current rig in the sig.
I'm looking forward to quake champions (I got into the closed beta!), Unreal, prey, and half life 3 (we believe!).
My current card is the Asus 1060 the card is incredible. I'd love the upgrade so I can move one card to my htpc which has the hot and antiquated 550TI...
Asus will most likely have two versions of their card. STRIX (top of the line with added blinky bits) and DUAL which is a much simpler set up. Personally, I recommend the dual line up. Dual HDMI's should be standard at this point. I like the idea of running HDMI sound to a receiver and HDMI...
Man compares a platform that has literally been unchanged since 2010 and says "it was drama free".
um...no shit
Go back to the sandy-bridge or gen 1 days. Plenty of drama, the Ryzen is a completely new design. Motherboard manufactures are still getting the heads around it because the specs...
you may want to consider offering loot boxes for overwatch at a discount. Overwatch has had good market penetration, but next event, I'd bet people would hop on it!
Howdy folks,
My recent HTPC Build in a silverstone GD09 case has presented a bit of a situation that I'm trying to figure out.
My desktop computer has had a 5.25" Fan controller since 2004, a very simple, knob controller for the fans, it works great...very simple and easy to use. (Recall PWM...
I'm surprised this thread exists. Lets be very honest, The RX4X0 series did not deliver what it should have. You asking, HEY GUYS THINK AMD (Who can't match the 1080 or Titan X (let alone the 1070)) WILL RAIN ON THE PARADE OF NVIDIA's 1080TI WITH VEGA?
No.
Hell No.
Here is why: The gap...
Two things keep me from pre-ordering:
1) Money...Currently in a state of...inexcess.
2) Results from third parties. I'm a little surprised I can order something without seeing tests that haven't been hosted by AMD in some way. Kind of like when a movie doesn't do screenings and then it bombs...
