if you have a bluetooth adapter, that is all you should need....your phone should then show up under "my bluetooth places" and you can browse its music and pictures with explorer...and for the phonebook you can sync with outlook over bluetooth with the standard drivers

IE2 is no good for gaming...for the newer games you can't even install them because it doesn't support stuff in hardware...maybe if you could find one with the new GMA900 integrated graphics from intel...otherwise that amd system sounds pretty good

Actually AMD does have competitiont, its called the Turion...they're just hard to find at the moment...

check out the local malls...the usually have dell kiosks...and if you're lucky one of them will have a 700m...there doesn't seem to be any standard as to what machines they have out, so its kind of hit or miss

my friend has an emachines 6810...if that drive comes out, it doesn't slide outwards...there are no visible edges around it except the faceplate for the tray itself...we were thinking of adding a burner to his too...but couldn't figure out how to get the drive out...and there is no documentation...

no 700m for 1st one, keyboard is tiny...perhaps like a T42/43 for that from IBM? very light weight, and good size for the second, perhaps dell M70 with nvidia quadro...I hear good things about it...otherwise a T42 with the FireGL would work nice

I have the same problem on my 9500 pro and I don't have all the bells and whistles on....but for me I found that if I let it sit for about 45 sec to a min it will do a VPU recover and I can continue playing np, just screws up my desktop after I quit. Any ideas?

and this IR blaster thing you speak of will not work...dish network boxes use UHF radio to control, this is much better as it can go through walls and is omni-directional

I would guess no 533mhz bus for you, mobo probably doesn't support it...as far as the P4, as long as the bios supports it the thing should run, but due to the increase in heat generated by the higher clocked P4 there is a question of how long it will run, might want to do some more research on...

man, I've got that monster stuff and a microfiber cloth...its cleaned everything under the sun...cleans up my monitors nicely, and my keyboards and stuff as well...

yeah I too prefer the original matte finish...especially with all these complaints of the "sparkle effect", these new glossy screens seem to be pretty much hit or miss

as long as you don't plan to game on it (which alot of people don't) and can handle the slightly smaller keys due to its small form factor it is a great machine. I have seen several in person and they always seem to be much sturdier than other dells I've handled (like my D600 at work)

in regards to the stretching, I believe there is a driver option or something that allows for black bars on the side in lou of the stretching...seems to be personal opinion as to which is the way to go

yeah the 9600 would run much better, the memory runs faster since its dedicated, and the card itself is better

a resistor would be difficult to use because you would need to know the resistance of the drive in order to make a proper voltage divider...you would probably be better off using a opamp circuit...thats assuming you end up needing 5v though
