I was just browsing newegg's processor selection, and they have several opteron's listed as socket 939 processors. Is this correct? if so, will these run in a standard 939 board, such as the Abit KN8-SLI?
yeah, you should be able to do windows remote, vnc, or anything else you can think of over VPN because it's tunneled, so you shouldn't have to worry about NAT.
unfortunately, most 6600's don't come with a connector on the card. if this is the case, you will need either an adapter or a new psu, depending on what route you choose. if you do use the adapter, though, make sure your psu can actually handle the load, i.e. don't hook up a powmax anything or...
Here's some 20+4 (and 24) pin PSU links:
PSU1
PSU2
PSU3
PSU4
these are just some shameless newegg plugs ... I mean some lower-priced power supplies that may fit your needs.
DO NOT by any means plug the 4-pin P4 connector into those last 4 holes! IT WILL FRY YOUR BOARD! if your video card has an additional power connector, you may be able to get away with plugging in the 20 pin and then using the suplemental connector on the card, since those last 4 pins provide...
I've never used SUSE, but i know debian will let you install gui from the cd without touching command line. Also, if you're going to run a linux distro, you might want to learn some command line anyway.
yeah, that's technically true, I just think antifreeze is the best solution for your problem - it's dual purpose and it costs like $8/gal. Anyway, if you don't have access to antifreeze, bleach is still not a great solution. You're better off with alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide, since they will...
I can't find any real info on this file, but try renaming it wusermsg.dll.bak and see if that fixes it. if not, you can get a new copy of this file at http://d321.k12.id.us/support/Docs/NOVELL/WINNT/i386/RM/NLS/ENGLISH/
if you have a customer base of 600+, I'd say you need a dedicated server for all this. The machine itself doesn't have to be like a 48 opty, 4 terabytes of RAM sort of a thing, though that's not a bad idea. Honestly, your biggest foe is badwidth limitation. I'd say that you're better off to...
as for modem, if it's one of those qwest actiontec pos's, save yourself years of trouble and spend $50 on a real modem, even if you have to buy a router too. The actiontec will fail like none other.
I don't suppose this is a DFI nforce4 board is it? if so, that totally explains it. I've seen the nic's fail over and over on nforce4 boards. I just use a linksys nc100 (available in a garbage can near you) and it works fine, since nothing I do needs more than ~20Mbps.
yeah, test each stick individually. if they both fail, try them in another board. if they pass in another board, you should probably check your psu, and if that doesn't fix it, get a new mobo.
try running the prime95 torture test:
go to Options->Torture Test and then click OK.
while that's running, try to find your cpu speed. if it still reads 798 or whatever, then cool'n'quiet is not running right. It should read 2.2ghz or whatever it is when under full load. If you still...
yeah. Just confirm that cool'n'quiet is working correctly and it should work no prob for whatever you need. If it's not working right, use something like RMclock ^^^^. I have a friend whose laptop predates functional cool'n'quiet so I just clocked it up with RMClock and haven't had a problem...
sounds good. I just put together two systems with basically the same hardware, though I used an Abit kn8 board. If you wanna OC, it's a sweet setup (though the abit board needs a new northbridge cooler, easy enough to come by) but make sure you have a good cooling solution or you're not gonna...
as far as leaks go, use pipe thread tape on your threads & hose clamps on all your fittings. that should significantly decrease the chances of a leak. Also, these items should be available at any hardware/plumbing supply store.
EDIT: also make sure to leak test before installation.
when I paint, I always wash my parts in some sort of liquid cleaner (usually water and dish soap), followed by a good rinse. After that, I paint in the garage and then move the parts to a refrigerator box I have in my basement bedroom. put a tack cloth (the cheap 3m ones available at walmart)...
if you are running windows 95/98/98se/me then you will need to set your router's lease time to like 30 mins. Those OS's have a problem with running large lease times and so they just crap out after a while. Also check to make sure that there's nothing wrong with the router. hook up one of the...
that's called bleeding. Usually, if it happens on your monitor, it happens on all other monitors of the same type (i.e. RMAing it won't fix it, you're stuck, or sell it and buy something else.). As far as checking for dead pixels, you'll have to do visual inspection. The best way to do this...
If you haven't defragged, you might give it a shot, but I think the biggest impact would come from turning on Drive Indexing:
From My Computer > right-click on the C: Drive > select Properties.
Check "Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast file searching." Apply changes to "C...
