It looks pretty fantastic for being rushed. I've never had the patience for coaxing the power and data cables into something resembling being controlled, just more or less out of the way of the airflow.
I couldn't tell you what from the information you give, but I think you're doing something wrong. I have the same board and same cpu as you and all I did to oc it was turn the multiplyer up to x45 in the bios and leave the vcore set to auto (which puts it at 1.3v at full load, totally stable)...
@TimKLL: after you added that top cover with the 140mm fan did it help your temps in any significant way? I just put my build together using this case (see sig), but I think I'm running into a heat saturation problem under persistent load where the heat can't get out so the temps build more...
I have my GD55 now. I left the vcore on auto just to see what happened and bumped the multiplier up to x45. It scales the vcore up to about 1.3 which is fine by me and everything runs great. No problems at all, been running like this for days doing lots of cpu intensive tasks and it's rock...
Yes I just built it today. Finally finished with all the updates, customizing, etc. and even got around to some overclocking. The board runs great, rock solid and fast with the 2600k at 4.4 on auto vcore (which works out to about 1.3v). My hyper 212+ handles it easily.
Anything in...
What's a good everyday max operating temp for the 2600k? I literally just built this computer today. Right now I have it running at 4.4 on auto vcore for simplicity's sake (which comes out to about 1.3v). I have the smartfan target set to 60 degrees C and my hyper 212+ maintains that easily...
So I got my GD55(B3) today, it's real. Also apparently my ram will be coming tomorrow so I'll put it all together if I have time and we'll see how she goes. I'm always paranoid about pressing that power button for the first time you know..? Afraid something will go poof and release the magic...
I don't have my board yet so I can't walk you through it but this article may help you: http://hardocp.com/article/2011/01/03/intel_sandy_bridge_2600k_2500k_processors_review/2
My GD55(B3) that I ordered from provantage (apparently they still have 4 left there) yesterday morning is on the truck for delivery right now. I have no idea how it managed to get here so fast but I'm by no means complaining. Too bad my ram which is the last remaining part won't be here until...
Hooray! Mine just got confirmed as shipped! (Just an email and updated order status on the website, no call :) ) Almost exactly an hour after yours was shipped, like clockwork. This after spending the morning refreshing the order status every 10 minutes because I was worried that I was too...
When exactly did you place your order? I placed mine at about 0730 pacific or about an hour after your original post and the status still says "Your Internet order has been reviewed and is about to be released into the order processing stream."
edit: Just now it changed after I posted that...
Thanks for posting this. Just ordered up a GD55 from that site (provantage). Never ordered from them but their reviews seem ok and there's no tax for me so I figured what the hell, who knows when newegg or amazon will actually have them again. Now I can finally finish my build. They said...
I got my auto notification this morning for the GD55 on newegg. Almost decided to buy but decided to wait a couple more days to see what else develops. Actually it was decided for me.. Initially I decided to wait but about 15 minutes later I decided that who knows when they'll be available...
If I had to guess I'd say by Thursday 3/3 they'll all be relisted. I've got it set up to notify me when they are in stock and the instant that happens I'm ordering one (MSI).
I intend on going with the MSI P67A-GD53 once they're available from Amazon again (yay no sales tax/free shipping!). This is also my first Intel build. I refuse to buy an Asus product as I've had nothing but bad luck with them in the past, and this trend seems to be continuing (looking at some...
They say in stock on the list like you showed, but if you go to the actual product it says back order. Most likely they're just listing it to get orders before they come back because other sites I've looked for such as newegg and amazon aren't even listing them at all right now.
Roger that, thanks for the tip. I was looking at the GD series ones just because they have room to grow for a second GPU if I should so choose in the future, so I think I'll stick with that series. I'll probably end up going with the GD53 (according to its product page it does have THX, and OC...
I'm still trying to decide on what mobo to get to complete my new sandy bridge computer once they become available again. After comparing a bunch of them I was looking at the MSI P67A-GD53 specifically. I have no need for any firewire or eSATA ports or the extra two SATAIII ports that the GD65...
The worst thing for me is that I don't even care about SATA II. I wish they didn't issue a full recall. I have would gladly bought a board afflicted with the problem since it's isolated to SATA II and said thank you muchly! But I waited too long in deciding on what exactly to do.
But then...
I really hope that message is going to be updated with an earlier date. I heard Asus was already getting ready ship or already shipping the new boards.
My new computer is waiting on this motherboard alone. And it sucks.
One thing that bothers me about this game is its new flip the puck into the zone feature. You hardly ever see this play happen in an actual nhl game and yet they're touting it so much in the trailers. I dunno.. just bothers me.
Nah.. Why do you care anyway? Just expressing my opinion (mostly about them charging $20 for software that should have been included in the ipod touch to begin with)
Indeed I did. Didn't change anything besides making things squished. And yes it's set to fullscreen now. I noticed rainbow six vegas does this now too and I swear it used to be fullscreen.
