It seems that Newegg is out of the question, especially if you can't return it. Or can you at least exchange it. The new policy seems strange.
Also, what is the most stable OUT OF THE BOX motherboard no overclocking for the 939, and if overclocked do any of the 939's offer SATA locks on all...
This has me worried. I read that it meant you could get a refund. Sounds like someone getting ripped off. Time to shop elsewhere. Noticed they've been rasing the prices lately too.
I am, that have it listed as one day sale only...
look...

I feel like calling them up all excited and saying WOW, WEEEEE, what a deal...
(pause)
Then askingthem how much is it normally! :D
I believe I'll go for the Neo Plat 2 (nforce3) 1 gig (2x512 OCZ Platiunim Ram), AMD64 3000 (retail (unless you think I should get a OEM part from Newegg (the CPU (3000 retail is the only item new egg doesn't carry), a Just PC USA case (sort of Mac looking...
The funky thing is many SATA drives are not true SATA drives but IDE drives with SATA interface. I think there are only a FEW true SATA drives out there.
Also, I was reading on a music forum, and he mentioned that two (2) normally QUIET 7200 rpm drives in RAID 0 config (for fast access) was...
I would imagine this was part of the delays. I also heard rumors that the SATA_II was having trouble with available SATA_II and NCQ drives.
Best time to upgrade? Depends.
Now, most stable and bang for the dollar? nf3 probably a neo,
nf4? Would wait till after the New Year, knowone buys...
I'm somewhat confused about these reviews now.
There was a review done yesterday and HardOC needed water to cool the proc to get up to 2.45 whereas anandtech got the 3000 up to 2.5 on air and was just as cool as the .13 chips?
Someone please explain.
Is it a stepping issue??
Not sure...
I suppose to some extent your right, but at the same token, you can read about all the AMD64 boards (via or nvidia) having either this problem or that problem, or it doesn't have a PCI/ SATA lock on SATA1/2, etc, etc.....
What I am trying to weed out is it due to a) a immature chip set wheras...
I don't think DDR 2 is worth waiting for but the curious thing is, where are the Ultra boards and, "the delays", i.e. where are the boards. You know what I mean and I would hate to wait for the nforce4 ULTRA only to have it trumphed in 1-2 months.
and if the above is true, we wait, go out and buy ultra nforce4 then the new chips come out with DDR2 (some say that DDR2 is backware compatible with DDR slots), but they'll come out with another set of boards.....and will be stuck with the fastest oldest board we've ever seen :confused...
It's really the new AMD Winchester cores due on in January...
You can read more about it here:
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=20049
and then the nforce was supposed to be out quite a while ago...so who knows for sure.
hmmmm
Not to rain on anyones paradade but the rumor mills suggests the next 939 winchest cores will support SSE3 and DDR2 (not that it matters), but would that mean a new motherboard of will existing motherboards (new nforce4) support the pin count of the DDR2 due to the controller on the CPU?
The...
But I have also read that if you overclock these 939 boards, you lose the SATA ports 1 and 2, at least on the Neo Platinum. Is this true? I read something about only the 2nd SATA has a lock. Is this true for all the new 939 boards?
thanks
As many know, some say the the P4 is better at content creation, and whilst this may be true, this doesn't apply for Audio as much (vs. rendering).
Now, the reason I need help is I am trying to decide on a new system.
There are a few problems and I am hoping that someone knows it all...
Anyone of you audio users? I ask as Via has been known to cause audio pops and clicks (drivers) for pro use. Not soundblaster users, but users who's sound cards usally cost more than the CPU.
I posted my own thread today trying to get some anwsers.
Thanks
my thread...
the pulling teeth part is that I have been searching Madonion, Cubase SX, Cubase Nuendo, AMD forums, and have yet to find someone to help me with this test.
I guess all I'm looking for is either:
a) Someone that has a 2.4A overclocked, what speed, and what their Sisoft Sandra FPU (same...
If there are ANY audio users with Cubase SX (or Nuendo as Nuendo latest will open this test file), could you please try this and let me know your test results???
This is a test that opens a SX file with plug-in, you can read more about it here...
