As per title, it's been a LONG time since I've posted to this forum. To be truthful, even with an upgrade, I'm not sure how much gaming I'd be doing. I'm in a situation where I'm thinking of upgrading my PC right now. Currently moving away from a Geforce 2070 Super. Only really like the...
My Klipsch 4.1 finally died after 16+ years of service. Speakers sounded funny and the sub is definitely shot. I don't think any piece of hardware i've owned has lasted this long.
You will be missed old friend. I'd bury you with a seven gun salute, but I don't think the local police will...
Looking for a worthwhile replacement for my aging, but still functioning Klipsch 4.1s. Instead of going for a full out surround speaker system, I was thinking of something more compact like the Bose. I don't game as much as I used to, but I do use my PC a lot for movies and music. The demo I...
I stopped by Microcenter yesterday and bought a Zotac 570. It was one of the qualifying cards that got you a copy of Batman Arkham City.

After I left the store, I realized that the cashier didn't give me the coupon...
I've actually been out of the loop for a bit in regards to PC components, but I'm looking to replace my aging Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 with a 2.0 or 2.1 setup. I'm going with fewer speakers this time to save on desk space. I would pretty much game or watch movies most of the time and only...
I'm actually thinking of taking the Crossfire plunge and just selling the g470 I have now. I already have a HD4890. I don't have any concerns about the power draw or the added heat (maybe the noise) from a Crossfire. I know I lose DX 11 support if I go with the CF, but obviously that's of...
Or is there any difference? Just ordered a new LCD monitor and this particular model has HDMI as well as the usual DVI and VGA inputs. Figured I'd setup the cables now while I wait and was just wondering what everyone else is doing.
Video card is a GT 470. This ASUS monitor supports...
OK, I've been out of the loop for a while now and haven't really kept up.
Looking to pick up a G470 to replace my HD4890 (moving to another machine actually) and contemplating installing an old 8800GTX along with it to serve as a stand alone PhysX card. In your opinion, would a OCZ...
Sorry, but I tried the search and it returned way too many non-related results. I've been out of the PC scene for over a year and have no idea of what's been happening. Last I heard (mid '08), ATI hardware ran PhysX fairly well using modified drivers and the folks over at AMD actually got a...
Just installed this new XFX HD4890 with the latest Cat 9.7 and have found that the DVD/BluRay playback is just awful with PowerDVD 9.0. There are very faint, vertical lines on the screen whenever watching a movie. These look very similiar to the old EMF or "wavy" lines that you'd see on old TV...
The BestBuy in my area are clearing their inventory of XFX HD4890s. Got them priced at around $165 (no rebate). Would you buy this card if you already had a GF 260 core 216? From what I've seen, the improvement may not be that much, but at this price, it's very tempting.
I've been out of the PC scene for a LONG time now and have not kept up. Just picked up a cheap x7850 (Black Ed.)+Gigabyte M61PME-S2P to replace my wife's aging Athlon64 3800+. Now that I've got all the pieces, I'm wondering if I should just give her my Conroe E6700 and keep this setup for...
Asus has, what seemed to be like a zillion years, finally updated their drivers for the Xonar series, albeit it's still a RC1.
They're updating their Global site right now so you can't navigate to the DL section from the main page, but for any one wanting to try them out, here are the direct...
Not sure if anyone's posted this yet, but there are new x86/x64 Vista drivers out. Haven't had a chance to try them myself, but if anyone's interested.

The release notes are available for each respective driver as well.
Finally got around to building my legacy box with good old (well, old anyway) Win98SE! Dug out the beloved Creative 12mb Voodoo2 SLI and stuck 'em in there. Woot, it worked on first try.
Now, I'm gonna spend the next day or so reinstalling all the old games that got me started on this...
Really. Now it's arguable which game looks the best, but when it comes to stress tests, FEAR is the king. Been testing my 8800GTX for two weeks now and monitoring temps using nvMonitor. By far, the engine that FEAR uses seems to stress the GPU way more than any other game in regards to heat...
Any early feedback yet? I'm more interested in any bug fixes versus performance increases.
I'm actually headed out tonight to a company Christmas party after work and anticipate being hung over for a while afterwards. It may be a couple of days before I try these out today for myself.
Ya know, maybe I'm blind, but I don't recall reading any where in any review that the stock cooler on the 8800 actually sucks air IN. Now this is great as it really cools the card, but my case temps have skyrocketed almost 25C under load from it's usual level when I had my X1800XT installed...
It's upgrade time for me.
Used (or rather hardly used) for less than a year. Never overclocked. Retail 512mb BBA version with warrantee still intact. Included is the base card with all the assessories that came with it. Asking $225 shipped to any where in the continental US.
Non CC...
Posted this in the Video card section by mistake.
e-GeForce 6800 128MB DDR 8x AGP = $239
e-GeForce 6800 GT 256MB GDDR3 8x AGP = $319
e-GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB GDDR3 8x AGP = $439
The place is a retail chain like CompUSA and is about 15 minutes away from my office. Prices are...
I have to hold myself back on this one since I already have a X800XT PE, but it's tempting nevertheless (my backup could use an upgrade).
