Unreal Tournament (1999)
Descent 1 and Descent 3 (you can comfortabley skip descent2)
And for something totally different, Tomb Raider1 is a fantastic way to kill a LOT of time.
Tomb Raider2 is decent as well, and it's mildly easier to get it to work on XP.
Yeah yeah, I was being facetious.
It was a dumb idea to remove it in the first place (did ANYONE like the single button)
...and now that they put it back, it is a NEW FEATURE!!!
Wow, I am really impressed with this NEW FEATURE. :D
Agreed. UT99 had some of the best music ever, such as:
Go Down
Nether Animal
Mechanism8
Neve's Crossing (from Unreal)
Cannonade
Also, the opening music from the tomb raider series was quite nice in a different mood kind of way.
Here's one that I scanned from a comic book if you're into that sort of thing (I am). I tweaked it a bit and added the full artist and copyright info.
If you like it or use it, can you please let me know so that I can have the satisfaction of knowing that my scanning and photoshopping is not in...
Floppies are still one of those things that you almost never need.
....but when you do need it, it's a lifesaver!
If you spend a decent amount of time helping others or fixing other computers, the need for a floppy increases slightly.
But if not, you'll probably never miss it.
<<"Dual thumb buttons:
New for 2007, the addition of a second thumb button adds even more programmability and control.">>
Wow! New for 2007!
I wonder how much $$$ they invested in R & D for this fabulous new feature! :p
Dude,
Don't throw away your marraige for a computer game!
My wife hated when I played UT online so much.
I needed to back off and take stock of what was really important!
....sorry to interrupt this thread, just a friendly message from your friendly neighborhood spider man!
Well, I just posted this in the other desktop thread, not realizing that there was a separate thread for clean desktops. I hope I don't get shot for posting it in two threads!
My CLEAN February Desktop:
Descent 1 (I have played over 130 levels on that thing!)
Descent 3 ( an awesome game that simply didn't get enough press)
Unreal Tournament - the crowning achievment of FPS's. Witness how many years people have played and are still playing capture the flag. It's one of those games that got...
1) Destroying the second death star in the old star wars vector arcade game (the sitting down version)
2) Beating several of the tomb raiders without cheating.
3) Finishing Jedi Knight II without cheating
4) Beating Xan in Unreal Tournament w/o cheating.
5) Sucking badly at UT for a long...
I know I'm digging up an old thread here, but the re-release of the the Intellimouse explorer 3.0 is terrificaly exciting. I am still using my IE3.0 from way back on both my home machine, my work machine, and I have one practiacly brand new sitting in it's original packaging just waiting till...
If you can afford the 3.2, get it.
If you have to finagle the budget, it'd be better to drop down to the 3.0 and get a better monitor. I myself have never done cad in widescreen, but it should be great.
I used a Planar 2010m and it was absolutely fabulous for cad.
There is no need for 4gb of...
Here is a reply of mine to a simialr thread:
I used to spend 9 hours a day doing AutoCAD and 3-D modeling & Rendering. I switched jobs in november so I haven't used it that much since then. But I can relay my experiences:
Almost any of todays higher end machines will run autocad with no...
I have found a solution that has been absolutely unbeatable so far:
Buy some Stoners Invisible Glass and some microfiber towels. You can purchase both of these in most local auto parts stores. it's cheap too. like four bucks a can.
I have used this on probably over 100 laptops and lcd...
I own a high end CRT at home, and used a high end lcd at work. Both running 1600x1200.
After doing the same things in both locations (cad, rendering, photoshop, gaming, dvd watching, and the rest of all of the regular computer stuff) I can honestly say I prefer the lcd by a wide margin.

Depending on which cad software you're using, you may find the single widescreen to be acceptable.
The widescreen allows you to dock your toolbars and pallettes on the sides due to the extended width of the layout, and you end up with a nice work area in the middle.
I personally find that some...
UPDATE: This monitor is SOLD.
Thank you everyone that took the time to look and respond to this ad.
I have a high quality 19 incher that I will be listing within the next few days.
Keep your eyes open if for it if you're interested.
Thanks again.

There are several buyers in line in front of you.
I will keep this thread updated if they opt out or if this moniter sells.
I will be away from my computer for most of this weekend,
so please don't think that I'm ignoring this thread if I'm quiet for the next two days.
Thank you all for...
From the few pm's I have recently recieved, and the numbers that I've puinched into Fedex, it seems that shipping hovers in the $50-$60 range.
What can I do? this thing is big and heavy. :(
A location closer to michigan will probably have a lesser shipping cost, but that's just a guess...
I just posed this in another upgrade thread:
I think you should list what it is about your computer that you don't like. Then you can figure out a plan of attack.
Are your games too slow? is your work too slow? Does your monitor suck?
Do you like your mouse/keyboard?
stuff like that...

For $350 you can get a sweet widescreen LCD and maybe that will make you happy.

I am selling a used 22" flat screen CRT Monitor (20" viewable).
Model: Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2040u
Here is an actual picture of the monitor as it sits on my desktop:
It is a really nice unit with a few minor scratches on the plastic bevel.
The colors and contrast are really nice and...
mouse: MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0
Keyboard: cheapest one available with large enter key and large backspace key.
Although lately, I'm using the MS ComfortCurve Keyboard 2000, b/c it was one of the cheapest usb keyboards I found, and I'm really liking it.
It took me a week or two to get...
It IS a higher end video card. It's not the Highest thing on this planet, and it's expensive for what you get, but it's still a higher end card. And it'll be even sweeter for those who need it after the price falls.
Call it a 7600. fine.
Decent review that tells it like it is.
I personally am glad that there is a new AGP card out. It is very common for people to keep their existing hardware long after it has been proclaimed "obsolete" by the "experts".
For many people, paying $500 for any video card, no matter how good it is...
Edit: I just noticed that Dell is giving many notebooks the option of purchasing a 7200rpm hard drive. So my above advice may not be the best.
But definitely insist on a 7200rpm drive. It's the only way to go.
