Agree with the other replies. An FX-6XXX might be an improvement, and an FX-8XXX almost certainly would be (especially for BF3), but since you would need a mobo anyway, you're best off just going with a newer intel setup. Good luck.

I agree completely. AMD may have problems it needs to deal with, but using recycled materials for packaging isn't one of them. I was just more curious than anything else when I posted the OP :)

Going from memory (because the original quote from AMD is buried in a 600 page thread on OCN), The core temp output on AMD chips of recent vintage are not true sensor readings but calculated results, calibrated to be most accurate from 40-45C on up, and are increasingly inaccurate below this...
