We've both gotta bring in the hits to our respective sites on Valentine's Day somehow...
Okay, that really is my closing post before things get way too weird. :D
Absolutely agreed. I have nothing more to say here, I'd like to think that everybody here knows my thoughts on the entire situation, as well as the series of events which led to it.
As a final point, I've also just heard that NVIDIA already have a fixed driver in the pipeline for this issue, which should remove the water reflection bug while leaving performance largely intact.
Good news all around, I would say.
Which I did refer to in the article, and it's a fair point to some extent, although its equally fair to at least suggest the change in rendering workload that this bug introduces is an obvious culprit for the performance change.
More importantly, it's useful for gamers to be aware of issues...
I've heard from numerous people who have confirmed this issue with various ForceWare 169.0x versions, although admittedly it's far more apparent in the fly-by benchmark than during normal gameplay. It isn't just me though, that's one of the first things I checked. ;)
Personally (and I know it's kind of different for you guys because of the different ways you benchmark), I'd say that very much depends on the overall level of performance. One or two frames per second at an average of 100 FPS or so really isn't much at all and, as you say, is within a normal...
Indeed, it's more than a little hurtful to see such a respected and major web site owner disparaging my name, and that of my site, in public with no evidence to the contrary. Very disappointing. :( Hopefully at some point he'll sit down and read the article in its entirety, and make a...
Does the lack of that board nullify the results that are there? I don't think so.
Where do you get the idea that they're competing?
Aside from the general lack of performance on NVIDIA boards, yes.
Which pretty much backs up the evidence shown in the article!
Totally agreed - There's more than one way to skin a cat, and as I was saying in the Beyond 3D thread the mix of reviewing techniques across different sites can allow a user to get the full picture of a board in a way that they perhaps wouldn't by only reading a single review or style of review.
