If you look at Anandtech's review, the 7970 comes fairly close to the 6990 and 590 at max CCC speeds in games that have support for Xfire.

If I had $550 to dump on a new graphics card, this would be it. A world's difference between a 5850 and 7970, especially after overclocking. Dat overclock.
