Oh THAT is precious!
With about 500 out of 640 responses being IFBs trolling...
Unless you are an IFB getting your jollies there is really no point in being here is there?
ROTFL. As we have seen, anyone with an internet connection can trash talk AMD. I find it amusing that it is so much fun to some that this thread now has 637 responses.

You are just trolling now. Take it elsewhere. It is against the rules. - Kyle
Wrong again. DEC was the first with a 64 bit processor called Itanium.;) Intel just bought the processor to get in the 64 bit game.
Cash can buy stuff (as I mentioned before).
Precisely, on all counts. Say what you will, money buys stuff. If you are operating on a (relative) shoestring, you can invest in a few ideas. You push and pray and HOPE that those ideas pay off. If they do, then you have a few good years, if they don't (and the stuff in Phenom was NOT...
ROTFLMAO.
"What is in the best interests of computer enthusiasts is for AMD to return to their former position as leaders and competitors in the CPU market, much like the back-and-forth in the graphics chip market."
"Oh, and by the way DON'T buy their products!"
Can you say STUPID...
Patience grasshopper. In a few months Intel will drop their prices, then AMD, then Intel, then AMD and the PII will be under $200. Then it will be a compelling upgrade.
I never called Kyle an IFB. I called what he is preaching (and his attitude) stupid.
To proclaim that you want competition and then preach how AMD has no value to anyone is... well... pretty stupid. What exactly would happen if everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) though Kyle was the cat's meow...
Kyle should pull out his checkbook and write AMD a check for 5 or 10 BILLION stipulating that it has to go to research. And then do so every year for a few years!

So I ask again:
AMD has 11% of Intel's income to work with.

http://finance.aol.com/financials/intel-corporation/intc/nas/income-statement
How can you expect AMD to build a processor that will match...
Yea, definitely some anger issues with the reviewer. I think maybe it's all about how Intel can keep their flagship parts prices in the stratosphere because AMD didn't manage to bust their nuts.
I asked long ago how anyone can expect a company with an entire gross income less than Intel's...
Nope, I'm directing it at the person claiming every other reviewer is drinking the coolaid. The same person that published the ONLY review in the world that (according to the reviewer) is worth reading.
Every fourth post is a response as to why his is the only review on the planet that is...
Naaaa, you just spend the entire day defending your results as the only correct ones in the world, and note how the rest of the world is drinking the koolaid.
I'd recommend a x4 phenom. Going from a 4600 to any other x2 would be a pretty low impact upgrade (but low cost as well). OTOH, adding a couple of more cores would be a high impact upgrade, at a higher cost of course...
The bottom line is that in consumer grade stuff, the SATA drive connects to an SATA port on a specific controller. It MIGHT be possible (though unlikely) to "span" a raid 1 by having one drive on one controller and the other drive on another controller, but as soon as you are talking about RAID...
Having multiple raid cards will increase performance, not decrease it. however I am concerned that you are talking about 4 port raid cards of 50 pounds (I don't have the pound currency sign on my keyboard). The expensive cards are expensive because they contain a coprocessor, not solely...
The difference is that it a generation newer and the graphics processor is noticeably more powerful. The whole point of the GX is to use the built-in graphics processor. If you plan on dropping in a Phenom II you would be better off going with the 790 chipset IMO.
Sorry if I said 2800, I was referring to an X2 3800. Those were the workhorses back in the day and I have one laying around, which you may have if you want it. It will work in the AM2+ boards and will let you get your new system up and running, then drop in the Phenom (or whatever you go for)...
If you are asking if multiple cards can manage the same array, the answer is no. If you are asking if it is possible to have multiple cards in the same computer managing their own arrays, the answer is yes.
If you are not booting off of RAID then you can install the driver later.
I own nothing but AMD systems, and have since the early days of AMD. It was true, long ago, that the other chipset builders had issues. However I haven't had a stability issues for years. Intel "stability" is an urban legend, and like all urban legends, have their source in a truth sometime...
LOL, you are never going to "win" against a troll, even telling them that you are currently running intels.

Their purpose is not to have a debate, but to obtain a feeling of satisfaction from another's discomfort. It is just "bullying"...
Can you overclock, then use the cool n quiet to reduce the clock when nothing is going on? For example if a Phenom II will overclock to 3.6 can I do that and then use the cool n quiet (or whatever it is called) to dynamically crank the processors down during the quiet times?
I need real hardware specs & prices. And speculation on when the price will drop to the $200 range.:D
I am about to retire my last 754 system (which my kids play Morrowind on), merge my WHS and my HTPC Server and turn the existing HTPC Server into a gaming machine. These two systems have X2...
Go with the 790 chipset. That is what the Phenom II is designed to run best with.
I buy the Biostar TA790GX

You rip the software images? I just copy the entire CD to a directory for that software, then drop in a text file to hold the CD keys etc. I have been doing that for years. It works great for everything except the OS disks which of course can't install over a network, but all other software...
