Working on updates across the board, focusing on the newer server for now. The onboard array controller is showing up as 2.0 and another add-on array card is showing 3.0 so I don't think it's BIOS related.
Can't find any firmware updates for the Intel card. Will try moving slots but pretty...
Another update... seems the Intel 10Gbe XF SR's in BOTH servers are only negotiating PCIe v1.1, 1x which is ~2.5gbps (per hwinfo64). I'm not sure why since they should be v2.0 cards. Going to see if there are firmware updates for the cards.
Update... picked up a couple of those Intel XF 10G cards but various iperf testing is only getting around 1.9gbps. Not sure if it's a PCIe or OS issue but going to keep at it. Any suggestions?
Should've read that post further, looks like they got more throughput after adjusting MTU and jumbo frames. Picked up a couple Intel E15729, will see how they do for my use case.
Both servers have decent arrays but I've been testing exclusively with iperf to avoid any disk bottlenecks.
I may get a couple 10G nics for each server but haven't worked with it much. Can anyone recommend a good NIC/chipset? I presume I'll need the cards, SFP's and cables to go directly...
Thanks for the feedback. There is an immediate need to transfer data but a longer term need to keep a subset of the data in sync between the servers. Thus temporary options like moving the controller/disks are not as attractive.
Completely understood that I'll need a transfer protocol that'll...
My Google-Fu on this topic seems to be failing to produce a workable solution (if one exists). I have about 25TB of data I need to move as quickly as possible between two HP servers (Windows 2008 R2 and 2012 R2). 10G isn't a viable option right now.
Server 1 - HP DL360 G6, NC364T Quad-port...
I think the Apple LED displays are extra problematic to glare because the glass cover isn't bonded to the panel. I guess that allows your eye to focus on the glare more easily. Either way those displays are overpriced. I'm using a few glossy HP 27" right now and although they are TN, they...
That all depends on the room. It's the trade-of for extra clarity. My room is setup in a way where I see no glare (no bright sources of light behind me). I've been in rooms where even matte displays have bad glare (even though it's diffused).
Glare aside, I've always liked the crispness...
I may be wrong, but the only 24"+ glossy non-TN display I know of is the Apple LED displays. I've been wanting to go that route for a while but the mini-displayport gets annoying trying to work with a PC.
No splitters, I have two 6-pin leads directly off the 750w Corsair power supply to my primary XFX GTX285. The secondary video card is only to drive a 3rd monitor and is a XFX GT240 with no power connections. Each card works fine individually.
The setup was working perfectly until I did a BIOS...
Did you ever resolve your Windows 7 bootup issue when you have two video cards installed? I'm having the exact same problem as what you described but my configuration is almost entirely different. Seems like a slowdown on the PCIe bus or something.
I picked up a HP W2558HC a few weeks ago and noticed the blue tint out of the box as well. I refuse to go matte, but the color on this monitor leaves a bit to be desired. For the price, I'm still happy with my purchase.
I ended up going with custom color, setting red higher than green or...
Anyone checked out the HP w2558hc in person? It appears to be a pretty recent release (Dec '08) and the former large glossy w2408 24" is gone off their website.
Based on the street price I can't tell if it's TN or not (I'm betting it is), but at this point I'm getting desperate.
Good question... I have not seen any but that doesn't mean they're not out there. Remember that the TLER utility isn't normally available freely from WD. It did get leaked however and you might get it from support if you can get the right tech. I would try the support line for the mfg. in...
I'm pretty much looking for the same specs and haven't had much success yet. I had high hopes for the Apple LED Cinema but the new proprietary mini-DisplayPort is only compatible with the new Macbook's. Even older Apple systems with DVI/HDMI will not work. I haven't found any female...
I believe you do not want TLER on any standalone drive so that the normal error-recovery process internal to the drive can take as much time as it needs.
I read that article today and it confused me a bit at first too. Remember that you want TLER enabled for RAID and disabled when using the drive standalone.
If I understand correctly, what this is saying is that you can never disable TLER on any WD Enterprise drive (be it EIDE or SATA) and...
odditory will have the best answer, but I would definitely give it a try on other controllers you may have available (specifically one that doesn't do RAID). My order arrives on Monday and I'll post my WDTLER results as soon as I have them (it'll be the first thing I do).
Thanks for the quick reply, very informative. I think I have found the drive for my server upgrade . I've read about the warranty issues which concern me too. If you get a line to someone at WDC that can issue a warrantly correction with little fuss, please let me know.
Allow me to...
Does anyone know if the utility will enable TLER on the new 1TB WD1001FALS or any Caviar Black for that matter? I find it ridiculous that this *software* feature would be limited to "enterprise" models only...
I don't expect them to either, but logic would serve that if the excessive users deserve penalties the lite users should be compensated in some way. Either that or stop calling the services unlimited.
Sounds like Comcast is oversubscribing its services... There are probably just as many heavy-bandwidth users as there are light usage customers (far less than the average), which should cancel each other out.
Are they going to issue credits and free services to the "light" bandwidth users?
