So what your telling me is that it's smarter to buy a card now for a game that isn't released yet? (aka hl2) Last I remember I was paying $589 on the first day newegg had the 9800xt proud as hell to have the newest card for playing the greatest game...Only that game never arrived and I'm already...
Evga and bfg are both good choices....evga has the best support and comes with farcy, bfg comes with the best warranty and oc'd from the box. (then again since most of us oc' it even more usually the warranty gets voided anyways)...Evga is a really awesome company though, just look at the...
ya I've ordered parts from them before...was trying to list some names of gaming pc companies though :)....I'm sure you can order a gaming rig from monarch though too :)
Alienware is overpriced crap....if you want to spend alienware money buy a voodoo or falcon, if you don't there are multiple other companies with as good or better machines for less.....hypersonic, abs, raptor ocx, zeus, etc......
ya...peeps have 6800u's and x800xt pe's....basically it has been easier to get an x800xt pe retail... but there are just as many 6800u's out there because nvidia released more to places like voodoo, alienware, and falcon while ati has put them in the retail channel....newegg has had the 6800u in...
The problem is that they basically said, "look we know what ati said was misleading, but isn't that the reviewers fault for not catching it- I mean heaven forbid compaines actually being honest!" (and nvidia is just as guilty in the past).....then they said "wow ati, using your filtering method...
if i was buying an x800 i'd take a look at sapphire...comes with prince of persia and splinter cell pandora 2morrow...also supposed to be a much better oc'ing card then the retail ati board...that is according to vr-zone's review...
it's already been established that ati has a huge performance lead with their trylinear filtering with AA and AF enabled...without AA and AF they run neck and neck, reguardless of nvidia's brilinear being used or not......
x800 faster then 6800? of course hardocp's reviews show the x800 series beating nvidia...due to the way they do their benchmarks right now they have a perfect slant towards ati.....
Lets enable AA and AF which run faster on the x800 due to "trylinear" filtering and compare it to legacy...
ati's filtering is not running true trilinear all the time.....and if nvidia boosts performance by 30% like they say is possible with drivers, it won't matter if ati uses that filtering or not, they still lose.....
That's a big IF though.....I'm actually disappointed in hardocp, they seem to...
Comparing against manufacturers of ram is stupid...none of them make their own stuff, you have to compare against specific modules...some ocz ram is better then corsair, and vice versa....I would recommend the new corsair xl 2225 but it's probably more then $270....ocz just released some 2228...
according to the inquirer, the new 6800u's have 30% headroom for performance from drivers....supposedly a new driver comes out tomorrow that should raise the performance level of the card and fix issues with farcy.....here's hoping they do it....30% would spank the x800xtpe especially with the...
definately a bfg card....which is exactly what will be going in my system....
1) their 6800u is called the 6800u OC meaning it's 425mhz rather then 400 and at the same price.
2) lifetime warranty and not like pny's lifetime which is only the lifetime of the card
3) usually have cool looking...
i don't think your argument against every buying ati again is that great if you bought a refurb card....otherwise you might have an argument...as it stands i would talk to newegg, they're generally good at supporting what they sell
