can the corruption be transfered in a norton ghost operation?

After overhauling my system, i've gone through 3 maxtor HD's only to find each had failed. I ran memtest to secure the RAM. All parts are new, so I cannot figure out why these new HDs fail within a week. Could the mobo or CPU be dammaged and contribute to this?

Well not slow, but a 10-20% increase over my old 7200rpm HD. Boot time is the same, programs install at the same speed if not slower. I have a 3112 SIL onboard controller with a A7N8X-E Deluxe MB. why can't I see the preformance people won't shut up about?
