After overhauling my system, i've gone through 3 maxtor HD's only to find each had failed. I ran memtest to secure the RAM. All parts are new, so I cannot figure out why these new HDs fail within a week. Could the mobo or CPU be dammaged and contribute to this?

Since I built my new system, game preformance has been sub-par. I'm getting 30's fps in CS:S - and 20's in BF 2 @ 1680x1050 no AA/AF. On top of that, my 3dMark05 score is around 3600. CPU and HD tests reveil no problems, although the HD had a average seek time of 14's. what could be the...

thanks, i'll try that. but one main problem still exists. when left on overnight, in a very cool area, my system will crash everytime. It locks up just like it did when running on the bad RAM. I ran the new stuff for 10+hours in memtest, i'm pretty sure its fine. Could a corrupt slave HD...

The ajustable stand on my 2005fpw won't budge, and it's locked in the shortest position. the "Stand lock release button" won't push in either...has anyone else had this problem?

ok, new RAM seems to get my OS running fine, but on a second HD certain videos skip around a bit, with no fluctuations in CPU or HD activity. is there any way to fix the files that shudder and shake around?

took out one bad stick of RAM...the other passed 2 hours of memtest so I used it. same problems...locking up during games and a good majority of videos are now not playing. why isnt there a crying smiley?

I rehauled everything recently, but here's my problem: mobo will power up with just the PSU's main power connector, but when I plug everything else in it will spin the fans for a split second, then shut off. This is a 480w PSU, and my system is pretty basic. can anyone help?

I have been troubleshooting my computer for the better part of two weeks now...now this: everything works, I swap out HDs for one I had to format on an old computer. I plug everything in, power up....CPU fan spins for a split second...then dies. computer does not power up after having done so...

with the top end cards out today handling anything you throw at them, and the many capatiblity issues with SLI drivers, and the less than 2X preformance, why invest?
