It's my understanding that 1080p with 4xSSAA works in 2x horizontal + 4x vertical, hence 4xSSAA.
1920x1080p with 4xSSAA = internally renders at 3840x2160p and scale it down to 1920x1080p.
1920 x2 = 3840 horizontal
1080 x2 = 2160 vertical.
Hence, 4xSSAA.
My question is... how about...
What exactly is their relations to each other ??
From reading various forums, it seems to me that some people call HD7xxx series Tahiti while some other call it GCN ???
To simplify my question, let's just say that GTX Titan 2-Way SLI performs *exactly* same as GTX 680 4-Way SLI in term of frame rate.
Now, 2-Way SLI Titan is 2 GPUs while 4-Way SLI 680 is 4 GPUs.
Does 4 GPUs running in SLI use more CPU resource (overhead) compared 2 GPUs running in 2-Way...
One of my friends is saying that 8 GB of memory in PlayStation 4 is not very useful for GPU.
His reasoning is that more texture memory used requires more GPU horsepower and PS4's GPU will be very slow if a game requires to use eg. 5GB of VRAM.
Is this true ?
I thought as long as available RAM...
Have you folks had any success with downsampling ?
For the life of me, I cannot get 3840x2400p with 60Hz refresh rate. (It works at 30Hz with automatic timing, though).
If you have experience with downsampling with U3011, please let's hear it.
Please DO state your graphic card and driver...
The short comings of MSAA, to my understanding is that MSAA is not full scene AA. MSAA only applies to polygon edges.
Nvidia's SGSSAA (and OGSSAA) applies to full scene.
How about MSAA with TrSSAA ? Is this combination not considered full scene ?
Performance of 4xMSAA + 4xTrSSAA should be...
I remember when DOOM 3 was launched back in 2004.
John Carmack highlighted per pixel and unified lighting model in IdTech 4 engine used in DOOM 3.
Now, it's been almost 10 years now since the engine/game was released.
How far have we come from then?
Unreal Engine 3.x, CryENGINE 2 and 3 (for...
Everytime I install updated drivers for my GTX 690 SLI set-up upon restart the Nvidia tray icon displays the following message

Max Payne 3 seems to require more than 2GB of VRAM even with single 1080p monitor.

Hi folks.
For those of you with Ivy Bridge processors, Z77 motherboard 680 and/or 7970 owners,
For example, if you install one GTX 680, it runs at PCI-E 3.0 x16 speed (with Ivy Bridge and Z77).
Can you change PCI-E mode to 3.0 to 2.0 and vice versa ? (in motherboard BIOS or Windows...
Just wondering if the system suddenly freezes an I reboot form the reset/power button on the PC case, can it damage the HDD/SSD ??

Hi folks.
Recently came across this wonderful benchmark/analysis @ TechPowerUp
Ivy Bridge HD 7970 and GTX 680 PCI-Express Scaling. http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=165077
Now, they tested PCI-E 1.0 vs 2.0 vs 3.0 scaling with a single card configuration. (7970 & 680)

Hi folks.
I currently have three Seagate ST1000DM003 1TB HDD. And two of them are in RAID-0 configuration. I'm wondering if adding one extra into RAID-0 array would result in performance improvement ? (I have an external 2TB HDD for data backup). This is mainly a gaming PC.

This is a brief KB article from Acronis.

Does that mean they support proper alignment for SSD or not ? Can someone chime in and explain ?
All those Intel chipsets for Sandy Bridge (and Ivy Bridge) such as P67, Z68 and Z77 support RAID out of the box. Can they be considered as a *hardware* RAID, or are they *software* RAID ?
Hi folks.
I've been using 23" 1920x1080 monitor with my GTX580. The monitor broke down the other day and I need a new one.
I am considering on purchasing Dell U2711 (2560x1440) monitor.
My worry is that gaming at 2560x1440 resolution requires too much fillrate for GTX580. From my experience...
From my reading around, Vista x64's one of main features to increase security and stability is a requirement of signed drivers.
If Microsoft is so concerned about stability and security, why aren't they requiring driver signing for Vista 32-bit? Do they not think that Vista 32-bit users...
Many people claim to love Aero interface of Vista. Some call it 3D desktop etc.
Can you guys tell me if I'm understanding Aero interface? Because to me, it's not much different from Windows XP. You press WINDOWS key + TAB, you get a cool effect in the middle of a screen a bit different from...
Hi.
I'm using Q6600 @ 3.6 GHz, 4GB of RAM, and 8800GTX. I've played Counter Strike Source with windows task manager minimized to see CPU utilization.

Hi. Recently upgraded to Vista x64 from Windows XP 32-bit.
Everything's very good. From stability to performance, I find it hard to fault.

In Windows XP, task manager showed "Peak" memory usage under Commit Charge section. However, in Vista, I can't seem to find anything showing peak memory usage. Is there any way I can see what peak memory usage is?
I bought Maximus Formula Special Edition two days ago. Everything seems fine, and stable.

I'd like to know how x86 based PCs, (Intel Pentium4, and AMD Athlon64) stack up against Apple/IBM PowerPC CPUs ??
I mean, Microsoft chose to use IBM's PowerPC variant CPU for XBOX2, and even IBM is supplying CPUs for Nintendo Revolution, and Sony PlayStation3.
There must be a good reasons...
I'm wondering if Athlon64 is the only CPU with built-in (on-die) memory controller ?? I know Intel's Pentium4 doesn't have it on-die.
Outside of x86 based PC platform which is mosly Intel vs AMD, is there any CPU with built-in memory controller like Athlon64 ?? What about IBM's PowerPC...
Currently, I see 2 versions of Panaflo 120mm fan here. (Panaflo L1A)
It says one of them comes with 2/3 pin connector, and the other one comes with 4 pin PSU connector.
Should I go for 4 pin version ? I ask because, I think I remember reading somewhere that those high CFM powered fans must...
Just ordered OCZ PowerStream 520W PSU. This PSU does not have a molex connector for PCI-Express.
Do I need to buy a new PSU when I upgrade to PCI-Express in near future ? :(
Is XP-120 Thermalright's best performing heatsink ??
I get the impression that XP-120 is mainly for low noise air cooling. 120mm fan = low RPM = low noise. (high CFM of course...but). :D
There is no better performing heatsink in the Thermalright's current product range ?
Cheers.
Currently, I see 2 versions of Panaflo 120mm fan here. (It's M1A with 86 CFM, 35 dBA. I can't find any L1A which is quieter, in UK).
It says one of them comes with 2/3 pin connector, and the other one comes with 4 pin PSU connector.
Should I go for 4 pin version ? I ask because, I think...
