LCD TV as PC gaming monitor (32"-42")

I recently saw that 32" 1080p Panasonic LCD for like $365 shipped from a Buy.com seller. Looks like that's over though. :(

I want to move away from a TN panel

NEC EA231WMi and Dell 2209WA have been popular around here for a while, likely due to the fact that they're the cheapest way to get a non-TN panel, and provide very reasonable performance for the money compared to other choices. The NEC is 23" 1920x1080 16:9, the Dell is 1680x1050 16:10. The NEC...

HP A7217A is dying, GAH Now what can compare?

Nothing, as far as I'm aware. No LCD for sure. I'm in DFW, too. I haven't had much luck finding a local FW900 or the likes. The price you paid for each of your A7217A's is about the max I'd be willing to spend, unfortunately. Wish there were far more of these out there (new ones!). On the other...

    HP LP2475w From a Gamer's Perspective

Skakruk, I'm with you 100%. I feel your pain. Always good to know I'm not the only one. If only I could have a new 16:10 with all the CRT qualities, without forking over so much for decade old FW900's on their way to extinction. So sad and disappointing. It's bullshit, really.

    Help: EA231Wmi or XL2370 or ?

Largest 1680x1050 I've seen is only 22" (probably more like 21.5" viewable), so around 0.28mm pixel size, like the 2209WA mentioned above. Largest 1920x1200 is usually 28 or 30", which would probably restrict you to TN panels, which I'm not sure you'd like very well (i certainly don't, anyway)...

    Help: EA231Wmi or XL2370 or ?

What size are your CRT's? (that you're running at 800x600) It seems to me as though most monitors these days usually have a ppi (pixels per inch) of at least 80 ppi, usually over 90, and sometimes over 100. For example, probably worst case scenario, if the CRT you're using right now has a...

    Buy SAMSUNG TOC T260HD? or?

    T240HD: http://www.digitalversus.com/article-357-3707-36.html T240HD + T260 comparison: http://www.digitalversus.com/duels.php?ty=6&ma1=36&mo1=473&p1=4647&ma2=36&mo2=473&p2=4647&ph=5 T260HD isn't listed. Should give you an idea, though.

Is it me or movies on 120hz TV's look like arse

I was at Costco and Sams a few nights ago, looking at the 120Hz TV's for a few minutes. This was the first thing I noticed. Something with snow skiing was showing. To me, it was very noticeable and distracting. The constant speeding up and slowing down was entirely obvious, and seemed to destroy...

    Monitor or TV?

If TV's could have a REAL 120Hz refresh rate, rather than being stuck with the interpolated junk they're using now, I wouldn't hesitate going for a 32" 1080p with it. Oh, and input lag.. that's another potential problem. Can't deal with that.

    22" lcd suggestions

I'm anxious to see more about the upcoming HP ZR22w IPS panel, supposedly due in the US this next month (February). If I'm not mistaken, I think it's also the first non-TN based 1920x1080 panel at 22" or below that I've personally ever come across. I would hope the quality would be at least...

    Acer 120Hz 23.6" 1920x1080 LCD... but it's orange!

It's my understanding that the GD235HZ is supposedly the same as the GD245HQ? One is the North American version, right? Is the GD235HZ the model that US residents would get? I ask because a Google Products search for GD245HQ still doesn't turn up any results, but tonight I was able to find this...

    Non-TN display list

F2380 for $200? Where?? Cheapest I've found after a couple minutes of searching was $300 at J&R. Are people still getting 2209WA's for $200? (I'm honestly not sure.) Haven't checked the rest lately.

    Need schooling in todays displays.

Read. That's what I've been doing. As a result, I have to say that I'm terribly disappointed. I certainly don't expect absolute perfection, but this is ridiculous. Personally, I've been on whatever I can get for the last several years, like this old Toshiba laptop that I find literally...

LCD Monitors with the darkest blacks

This is also one of my biggest problems with LCD's, and I'm struggling to figure out what to do. I've considered going back to CRT, but there's just nothing available. I'm tired of making purchase mistakes, and I'm on a bit of a strict budget. Wasn't planning on spending much more than a...

    130nm vs 90nm A64 3500+ = big difference?

Many of you have probably already seen this...Winchester review by Anandtech: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2242 ...90nm 3000+ hit over 2.6 GHz with just 1.5v showing on CPU-Z. Not too shabby. :D Good luck fsh42na! Come back and post your experiences once you get it.

    Focal JMLab Sib & Cub 5.1 Hi-Fi

Has anyone used, or even so much as heard of anyone using JMLab's Sib & Cub 5.1 system with their PC? I seriously doubt it...being that they're rare and most people probably haven't even heard of it...not to mention the price ($1700). Just thought I'd ask though. I think it'd turn out really...

Asetek VapoChill - CPU kit for socket 939?

Frallan, I'd already been to the Asetek site...that's what I was going by... http://www.asetek.com/default.asp?showPage=startside.asp&param=sideid&myvalue=14&contentSection=2&menuID=-1 Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see ANYTHING there that mentions socket 939...only 754. :confused...

Asetek VapoChill - CPU kit for socket 939?

If I hurry, I can get a pretty good deal on a used VapoChill PE stand alone unit. Only problem is...how long until Asetek releases a CPU kit for socket 939 processors? (ie 90nm Winchester). I've had a Lian Li PC-75 laying around, and I'm planning on modding it to house the stand alone unit...

Any experienced modders in the Dallas-FT Worth area (Texas) wanna mod my Lian Li? :)

Thanks for the post [dRu], and everyone else too. :) More than likely, it looks like I'll probably just end up using a dremel. I've read more about dremels in the past and there seems to be more articles and stuff on the web about using them for modding. Besides, I might end up cutting a...

Lian Li PC-75... Comes with a nice big window...if you're into that type of thing. Room for all kinds of stuff in there, use your imagination. It's HUGE! It's really nice. It's purdy. It's a Lian Li. ;)

Yeah...guess I'll have to. Just thought I'd give it a shot first tho. I'll prolly buy one soon, get some sheet metal or aluminum from somewhere and hack it up for practice I guess. Then just post questions to forums as I go along with the actual modding. Dunno what else to do at this point...

DFI Infinity NFII Ultra or ABIT NF7-S to oc an AXP-M?

Yeah...DFI may give you higher FSB compared to the NF7-S v2.0, but look at memory benchmarks. NF7-S has tighter timings. So, what do you want? Perhaps a couple MHz FSB higher (if you're lucky) for bragging rights? Or better performance from a better board? Abit rules, NF7-S is by far the...
