You're assuming a lot here. Comparing the Bioware situation to your work environment is only natural, but I don't think the "streamlining = more content faster" assertion is even close to the best explanation for why people are getting fired over there. I'm not arguing that there aren't...
Did you play the game? It wasn't done. Sure, a MMO is "never really done," but they released it too soon. There was so much shit that any and every current MMO should have but SWTOR didn't, that it was absolutely imperative to keep the team intact just to get the basics tacked in after...
The "integrity of the game" reasoning is just laughable. Blizzard themselves have gone out of their way to state that D3 is a completely soloable game. If so, then why not have an offline only mode that doesn't fuck with the multiplayer side at all?
I only played a couple hours of the beta so I'm not very familiar with the whole blacksmith/crafting/upgrade side of things. Does anyone know of any good guides for this or is it pretty straight forward once you get farther into the game?
I was really glad to see they made it. I know it's not as big as some of the other KickStarters we've seen, but it really does seem like Garry knows how to work on a shoe string budget. I'm not expecting pure greatness, but giving someone as passionate about this genre as him enough to get...
They need a BIG gaming news outlet, or multiple ones to pick up the story if they're going to make their deadline in less than 9 hours.
Does anyone know what happens with KickStarters that don't hit their goal in the given amount of time? This one seems like if it went on for just another...
If anyone else is interested in backing Starlight Inception, they have less than 13 hours to go and still need pledges to get KickStarted:

Hopefully they'll make it... still need about $20,000 though at this point so they...
Everyone playing this right now really needs to keep in mind that the game is in a true beta state still. They've already said they will be creating a better tutorial to walk people through the basics of the game, but it's probably a ways off.
With that said, I've had so many technical...
You know what else is dumb... just about everything in our society today, especially almost everything we turn to for entertainment.
I'll agree with the author on the point that I would like to see more "smart" games, but they better be good games too or you can take that "smart" and shove...
I only had a few minutes to play, but I fired it up on my 3x1 Eyefinity rig and it works... though it is stretched a bit. It's not perfect but it looks like it'll be playable even if it doesn't get any better with some tweaking.
Has anyone in the beta played & enjoyed the Barbarian? I never got into the other Diablo games before, but in MMOs I tend to enjoy the big, powerful, melee/tank type of characters. I see a lot of people saying they like Monk for melee... anyone think Barbarians are fun though?
It's fucking huge. I have a 6990 and I'm trying to figure out a way to get to GTX 680 2-way SLI ASAP because of this. I can't take the chopiness of Crossfire anymore, and AMD is doing absolutely nothing about it in their drivers.

"These figures have shown a roughly 10 percent decline over the last two months. That doesn't necessarily...
I'll readily admit that because WoW was my first MMO, I have some very fond memories of it that no MMO will be able to match/surpass until something truly revolutionary comes along... think Holo-Deck most likely. However, those fond memories of a different game aren't to blame for why TOR fails.
Check this one out if you get a chance:

Starlight Inception is a space combat experience with modern elements of strategy and tactics.
You assume the role of a young space fighter pilot assigned to the star carrier U.S.F. Independence, deploying to hotspots...
There is no denying, there's a TON of filler. I didn't mind it all that much the first playthrough up to 50, but with every new character after that, it just started pissing me off more and more until I didn't care to level anymore. There was faaaar too much pointliness running around. I mean...
Yup, if you somehow managed to get three lvl 50s, you REALLY must like the story aspect. I enjoyed my first class storyline to 50, but they would've been better off not trying to make this into a MMO. None of the stories I've seen (and I've seen most of the better ones through friends'...
That's because the people that have one or more lvl 50s are the ones quiting in droves. All the rest of you poor shmucks are still paying your monthly MMO tax while the rest of us have already un-subbed. They're just trying to get the people that have already burned through their broken...
Yeah, I logged on last night to see the new patch and PvP warzone. All-in-all... meh. I moved around some UI elements, respecced, played one match of the new warzone... logged. Glad I didn't re-sub for another month.
So after I un-subbed earlier this week, they sent me a survey asking a bunch of questions about why I left. Based on the questions they were asking, I think it's pretty safe to assume they know what a lot of the largest complaints are about the game so far. Almost every single one of the...
Same here. They could fix almost all of the really egregious bugs and I still wouldn't care enough at this point to keep an active subscription. There's just nothing all that compelling to keep people around for very long.
While I would never want to go back to a pre-LFG state in a MMO, I readily agree that some of the open world confrontations that went down back in the day were truly memorable. I just don't see LFG as being the real reason why you don't see much of that anymore.
I mean in SWTOR, hardly...
The loading screens aren't the only thing making it feel that way though. Get rid of all the loading screens and just have the hyperspace between different planets... still doesn't change the fact that the zones you play in all feel completely sectioned off (any have almost no one in them)...
Yeah, for me the huge missing element in SWTOR was that feeling of being in a "living, breathing world, where I can go and explore anywhere without loading screens" kind of feeling that WoW pulled off really well.
For anyone hoping to experience that kind of feeling again, I'd highly suggest...
Nice timing on this... I literally just un-subbed... should've done it months ago. This was my "reason" for leaving:
"I could go on and on about all the things that make me no longer care about playing SWTOR, but the biggest, single most damning thing is that at it's core, it is a single...
I thought both games were a ton of fun but I haven't played either one in months so I can't say which one I'd prefer at the moment what with all the patches I've missed and everything. With that said, at launch BC2 actually felt like a bigger step forward for the genre than BF3 was at its launch.
