I see an off white screen with a black cursor which i believe is right when the gui is enabled and the real installation starts and then it does not allow me to move the cursor and does not progress at all. So, yes it becomes non responsive.

1.Where would i get these "generic" drivers for linux? 2. How do i insert them into the install program (the problem happens when loading up the gui in the install, i never get to loading the os.)? Edit: If this helps, knoppix works fine although without ethernet support.

I really want to try out linux, i truly do. But everytime i try to install fedora or just about any other distro (mandrake, suSe) it freezes at one point. In the fedora install it goes through the early stuff fine but when the gui gets loaded (off white screen with black pointer)...

I have a regular pc dell crt monitor and the mac i came across (an apple performa) has a port that looks kinda like a crt, and with the same amount of pins, but its wider. Are there adapters for this and what type of port is this really?

I lost my audigy software cd so i can still install drivers, but i can only find a update file for surround mixer. I need that actual installation file. Any ideas?

Im using an audigy now and I uninstall the onboard sound thru device manager, but whenever i restart the computer windows tries to install the onboard sound. How can i disable the actual hardware. I couldnt find a setting in the bios for it.

ok, I did the rebuild command in the console and it gave me these weird options that i didnt know what they ment. I just skipped them and went on, but it still isnt fixed!

Ok, Heres the problem: I deleted the /KERNEL= switch in the boot.ini for my xp prof install and now it wont run. Does anybody know what the /KERNEL= switch does and how i can find out what the switch for it was (what files it refers to)? Unfortuantly, I forgot the switch, but i know it...

The little black things over the socket. You might need to cut up the sinks to fit it there.

Trust me, pc3200 is not the bottleneck. My 2.6c is running at 3.2 at a 1:1 ratio on pc3200 ram with medium timings. Pc3200 doesnt crap out after an 80mhz oc.

I have that case, its okay. It has hella airflow, but dont plan on modding it at all. Not good for water cooling (too many 8mm's, no 120mm's) However, it does impress the ladies though :p Edit: Be careful when removing the front, the 2 clear plastic things are supposed to be there.

I would imagine the powersupply is overheating, because im pretty sure most modern processors only start experiencing heat damage at 70c+ (except for teh prescott) So i doubt that your computer would turn off at just 59c.

Hrm, most heatsinks can oc that processor to 3.2. If you want oc higher, go with a Thermalright heatsink.

Hey, I got teh IC7-G: Just raise teh fsb untill you cant anymore, then change the fsb/mem ratio to 5/4 and raise teh clock speed some more. If its not to stable, raise teh memory voltage and lower teh mem timeings

This sucks, the ic7-g has no retention mechanism for the agp slot. Any ideas on how to secure the graphics card? Once i put on the waterblock, the tubing might put to much stress on teh card and pull it out :mad:

Basically it comes down to CPU speed vs. Memory bandwith. Ive gone with 3.2 at the moment, but when I get water cooling later in august, everything will be much better.
