nice to see a similar setup. I'm having a few problems so far. The board refused to work with two DIMMs in and I don't think it liked the Pico's 20 pin power from the pico 120 that I have. refused to boot. Now I'm having a hell of a time getting windows 7 to install because it is not so happy...
nice bus speed Officermartinez,
Will the system run the same at 8x 438MHz as it does at 7x 500?
did you have to overvolt the bus and/or MCH for that 500MHz?
That appears to be the issue that I am facing. However, I am putting some better cooling on the northbridge this weekend, so...
I'd think that the slider laptop has be best chance of all of these goofy concepts to make it to market, provided that the slider pops out on a rail and then at the end of the sliding action it engages a hinge and can be angled up. The screen module would protect the keyboard (yes, I too would...
I just got my E3110 yesterday after getting fed up with waiting as well... I'm not disappointed so far. This P35-DS3L was cheap and is happily running at 500MHz bus speed and higher, but since I'm speed limited by my RAM it will stay at 500 for now.
I had no issues out of the box with the...
So I am about half-way through my testing of the new Xeon E3110 SLAPM rig that I just put together, and something that I find bizarre is happening.
I am running prime stable at 3.75GHz at stock voltage with bus speed 500MHz and ram at 1000 (5-5-5-18), however, when I increase the multiplier...
I thought I was reading BBspot!
did they really just use the "its not a bug, its a feature" line?!
well, with the code release, at least it will be well documented (and implemented). Is there someone here who runs IIS and can explain a way for this situation to be resolved in a...
I got a M$ Wireless Optical Desktop 700
It is a really nice piece of kit! Thanks!
I'm using it for my downstairs living-room computer for entertainment. It deals with RF interference a lot better than my previous belkin wireless keyboard and M$ wireless mouse.
Although I don't quite...
So I've had this card for a week now, and it has been turning out 6:30 min~ frame while folding ... I haven't yet rebooted the system and when I did... poof! The card is dead!!
Never!!!!!
Drunk posting wrapped in the semi-anonymity of the intarweb has yielded some of the most entertaining musings yet. Who are we to summarily discard such a creative medium?!
Besides, I'd rather have drunks behind a keyboard than behind a wheel.
Happy friday! I know I'll need...
Like putting a sticker on the outside means anything :(
The thing that they could do to link to the past would be to ship the systems with an emulator and all games ever released for commodore, AND Amiga !! I loved my Amiga!
But, I doubt they have the creativity to implement this and it...
Good job all,
Congrats Skindogg ... you lucky puke.
I don't know about all of you, but I've sure had a good time liberating all of this carbon into the atmosphere in the pursuit of science.
I just got one of these babies for folding and fragging... but when I placed it in my X-Qpack case, the heat-pipe cooler interfered with the fit of the power supply.
Just a heads-up for other SFF case owners.
Company of Heroes looks great on this card, except for a funny blending error...
I am continually impressed by the level of commitment here. Way to go guys! Knowing how much work I've done to get folding, I am amazed at the increase of some of our more accomplished folders.
How many boxen have you added so far? I think I'm up to 22 as of yesterday.
keep up the great work!
If I may, let me suggest that the cards go out to outstanding folders ... such as "Best new folder" or "Tier 0 leader" ... or "binkt" ;)
But really, if you insist on teasing or being mysterious... I'll play along
Hippy on stilts.. :D heh...
I was kinda worried when I started the GPU Client for the first time. Now that it has completed a few frames, I'm quite happy to announce that I've borged another C2D machine with a x1900 class GPU !
Things are getting a little loud in here with all of these...
Thanks! If you're in seattle, stop by for a look. :)
One of them has an X1900 flavor GPU, is it advisable to run two consoles and the GPU client at the same time ? Should I put the machine inside of a concrete containment vessel first?
Well, time to dig into the old laptop cabinet for some more borging! I just hope that they won't cook off during the next month.
Seriously though, this is a great idea for a contest. I'm glad to be counted as one of the participants, as I find myself in good company.
It may be meager, but...
thanks
the correct answer is b)
see acoustics.washington.edu
Seriously, the guys at the UW Applied physics Lab have been doing some great work on autonomous sea probes and acoustics as well. If we really want to figure out how many of these things there are, then acoustics is currently...
At this point, we really have no proper method of keeping such a creature alive for study. The capture of a live specimen will go a long way in telling us how to keep these animals alive for study, but it is highly unlikely that we will be seeing giant squid in an aquarium near you, ever...
I've used Acronis trueimage for a while now, and I'd say that while it is not free, it is well worth the purchase price. It is quite versatile in imaging many different formats (linux filesystems, NTFS, FAT, etc..)
Sounds like there is a short somewhere, like something contacting the back of the board perhaps?
I'd take the board out and inspect the solder pads on the back. I noticed that some of mine may have full coverage, but are not as pretty as what I am used to... maybe the solder bath at the...
I'm with you there bro,
That stylish heatsink gets super toasty on mine as well. Maybe they made it flame shaped as a warning? ;)
With a little extra airflow nearby, things should get better. But I hesitate to overvolt the MCH with just the stock setup.
More cooling coming this...
Did you leave a case standoff under the MB where it shouldn't be? It sounds like there is a short somewhere (maybe inside the PS instead?).
I noticed that the DS3 has a few of the regular ATX screw holes omitted.
good luck!
Well, I've had good luck with my DS3 and Crucial Ballistix 800MHz RAM that everyone got over the weekend with the rebates.
Some things I've noticed which bear mentioning:
the CPU fan doesn't come on immediately. Perhaps this is by design? "smart" fan control?
The NB passive heatsink...
I suppose that it wouldn't hurt too much to try it if you've got a spare setup to hot-flash the BIOS back to the original, or if that board has the "dual bios" support ... Just make sure that you can recover from it if you do have a bad flash.
I just put together a machine with the e6400 and the DS3, and I've noticed that the stock heatsink fan isn't spinning up at boot up as well... Mine takes about 5-10 seconds to wake up.
Other than that, I think its an alright board. Oh, please tell about your experiences with the thermal...
I've got the Areca to play nice in the PEGx16 lane slot on an old i915 motherboard with a PCI video adapter. That saved us a bundle!
If I could have gotten the ML card when I built the setup, I would have... Those SATA cable come out from the card too easily.
Hey man,
I've slapped together 3 of these systems so far without a snag... I was wondering what brand of HDD's you tried and what interface they were (sata/pata)
I've flashed all three to the 0506 BIOS and it looked like everything was re-detected, although no other change was noticed...
I use the 3200 "XBL" memory based on samsung rev-TCCD modules. I've had good success with them in all platforms. I had them running at 275MHz in my intel system, and mine get up to 245 with 1T. I'm really happy with them and their compatibility is great. I have not yet found a board or chipset...
Just flashed to 0506 bios, no voltage control yet. appears to do nothing for me. This release was for c'n'q support for Dual-core chips and compatibility fixes with ATI cards...
and to open a back-door to Cylons ?
Well, wait another month... still a solid board tho.
Hey, I've been building these for lab pc's this past week and I've got 3 up and running with no problems. Cool'n'quiet works great (bios 0403) and the integrated graphics are wonderful (as far as integrated graphics goes). MPEG2 decoding offload works wonders with NVDVD and the DVI-D...
