Have you tried a different port number? Possibly 4000 is taken on the box?
Is there any type of firewall/proxy running on the client computer that could be borking it? I can't tell from your description whether you have tested this on multiple computers or just the one.
Will it work if...
DropBox
I've been using this for several months now and it works well. I can access my files from both my work and home computer as it keeps them synchronized.
If I am on another computer then I sign into the website and have access via a browser. One of the coolest features is I can...
You do not mention what version of Exchange but I know with 2003 and 2007 OWA you can click Options and then Rules and setup rules based on criteria such as sending domain.
Or you can use Outlook to setup server side rules (basically same thing) under the Tools menu and then Rules.
Everything here is spot on to the troubles I had. I was gradually getting more and more frustrated with Symantec 8 - 10, and when Endpoint came out and I had nothing but trouble I ditched them for NOD32.
It is amazing how much faster my laptop (and user's laptops) are now with NOD32 vs SAV.
I second this motion...
But you would need to do it on all devices not just the router.
But bear in mind that a network this large generates a lot of unnecessary broadcast traffic.
I rescind my motion and recommend creating a second subnet or vlan and routing traffic as needed.
My...
You can use GoDaddy for your cert. You need a UCC Multiple Domain certificate that runs around $90 annually.
This is what I used to for my OWA and Activesync on our smartphones.
Did you find a solution?
I am about to do the same thing, removing SAV 10.x and replacing with NOD32. I have been experimenting with NoNav 2.49 and will read the other links in this thread.
You are waaaaay overthinking this setup. You are wanting enterprise features when you are working with a small office budget.
What you need is 2 servers that do not need to be identical. 1 for domain services such as DNS, DHCP, Active directory etc. The other will be an application/file...
AMEN. If you go with a workgroup you will be constantly making trips back to fix goofy stuff.
Their setup depends on the dental software they plan to use. If it is a network version (I cannot imagine anything not being these days) then you should get a simple server using Windows server or...
Just FYI GFI MailEssentials allows you to create these for any email address on your system such as ex-employees, information autoreply for HR type accounts, etc.
Much easier than having to keep dead accounts just for the OOF feature.
I ran into this same thing a few months back and could not figure it out. I was trying to create a helpdesk local user with priviledge level 5 and a limited command set. I knew it was because of AAA because if I disabled AAA then it worked.
just2cool, I am interested in finding out if the...
Its been a while since I have done it but OpenSSH is easy to setup and use. Is there a reason why you don't like it?
I set this up for a company whose software developers lived in Belgium. They would SSH into the server and then I would redirect a different port to allow them to get into a...
Accessing Quickbooks over a WAN just does not work. Its painfully slow and problematic.
You need to follow StoneCat's recommendation for a remote desktop scenario if you want to do this.
Alternatively Quickbooks offers a hosted solution where they host the file and allowed secure access...
It boils down to which device do you want handling DHCP? The server's DHCP is independent of the router's DHCP (i.e. they are not tied together in any way).
It normally is not a good idea to run two DHCP servers unless each is handling their own subset of the pool and giving out the same...
Well there is your problem. Have you identified what device is acting as a DHCP server?
Definitely check around and make sure someone hasn't installed rogue equipment that you have not approved (wireless access points often are the cause of this).
Just for grins have you done an ipconfig /all from a client to verify?
If it does show the server as the DHCP server then you may be need to reinstall the DHCP components in your server.
I had this exact same scenario back a few years ago.
We had switched from using DHCP on our Sonicwall to our Windows 2000 server. They were handing out basically the same information.
About 9 months later I noticed that the Window DHCP server was not showing many addresses but did not think...
Huh, I thought this was going to be an easy one but apparently the Sonicwall CFS engine only filters HTTP and not HTTPS. What a crock.
Anyways if this is a business computer then this person is breaking the Acceptable Use Policy and should be brought to the attention of management.
You...
I don't know much about WoL but I just happened to read this article yesterday:
Wake-on-LAN Through a Cisco Router
Maybe it has information that will be helpful to you.
Nope, I prefer my software spyware free. Gator is known spyware and I would recommend getting rid of it for something else.
I have been using Password Safe (mentioned earlier in thread) for a couple of years. I just run it off my USB flash drive whenever I need it.
I like it because I...
I am right there with you. My friends think I am nuts for not just opening 3389. Instead I require an IPSec or an SSL connection.
Even though you can lock it after "x" failed attempts, I am not comfortable with having a public login available for someone to attempt to crack. <shrugs>
Just...
Just FYI to get WPA2 on XP you have to install the Wireless Client Update which was released in Jan 2007.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=917021
This will add WPA2 functionality as long as your NICs drivers support it.
Go into Exchange System Manager
Drill down Organization - Servers - ServerName - First Storage Group - Mailbox Store - Mailboxes
Find the mailbox (should have a red X icon next to it) and right-click and choose Reconnect
At this point you should be able to reconnect the mailbox to the...
Just to clarify to the OP this works if you have one person using multiple Exchange mailboxes but not if you are using one mailbox with multiple SMTP addresses.
Exchange will always send out with the default address it has for the mailbox in Active Directory.
This question has been asked...

What the OP describes sounds exactly like a situation I had at a remote office. I changed the wireless channel and problem was solved.
What was odd was that I ran Netstumbler and never saw another network on the original channel so possibly there was some other 2.4 GHz device causing...
You need to find a reseller that specializes in educational agreements. Schools can get Microsoft licensing at major discounts vs what other institutions pay.
What version of the Remote Desktop Client are you using? Since you have XP you most likely are on 5.2
At work we had a problem with terminal services with Dell Latitude D820s. The accountants had USB ten-key pads that worked fine in Windows XP but would not work in terminal services. On...
If it is a standalone server you can use the Offline NT Password Registry Editor to blank out the admin password.
Then you can boot into Windows 2000 server and set the password to your choosing.
If it is a domain controller you are pretty much out of luck unless you had a secondary...
