I'm going to dispel some misconceptions there. This most certainly is a capable gaming monitor. I did some input lag tests next to a 2ms TN panel. The difference is virtually nonexistent, and far beyond what's perceivable.
I also ran at a lower resolution to test at 75Hz, but the results...
I got mine yesterday. It's got some tinting but it's really subtle, and only on a gray filled screen. Biggest detractor IQ wise is some backlight bleed in the bottom left corner. Every other corner is normal except for that one. It's only noticeable on black though.
The other thing to note is...
I think chances are way too high you'd just get another one with the same exact problem. It's probably not worth it unless you plan on getting something completely different.
There are some that seem to have good units.
Makaveli6103 - tinting (vga), ?? (displayport)
sonyman - tinting (vga), OK (displayport)
wagsrules - tinting
AthlonXP - OK
TidalWaveOne - OK
Lyric Suite - defective
Moonraker 7 - tinting
But most have tinting. I think people should buy...
You don't have to depend on in-game support. Generally Rivatuner's D3DOverrider will do the trick.
Triple buffering makes V-Sync truly usable, and will only be better on a 120Hz monitor.
Wow, you can make money off ads with YouTube hits? I did not know that! Maybe these kids are using this video to sell WoW addict t-shirts. They really are smart!
Those claiming this is fake simply because they don't think anyone can act like that, must not have much experience in life. If...
Weird, so in some cases it seems SSAO can actually decrease quality, or just arbitrarily change it without necessarily helping or hindering it.
I've never tried running Crysis without SSAO but I'd assume the feature had a bigger effect there than in this game, mainly because I think (in my...
There's one NVIDIA fanboy I see in this thread (and I whopper of one too), but is your attitude that much better?
NVIDIA's done some bad but they've done some good too (PhysX, free COD4 maps, adding TRAA to GF6 cards), and taking the good with the bad is part of life.
For some reason I thought a comparison between two NVIDIA GPUs, as opposed to a comparison between GPUs of two completely separate designers would have more credibility. But clearly you're in the right with your comparison. I mean, why would anyone assume two derivatives of the G80 architecture...
There are other factors at play. Usually we watch for AA performance, because that's really all that matters (in most games). The 9600GT has a higher fillrate and the same memory bandwidth as the 8800GT. Take that as you will.
A lot of what we know about the increased efficiency anyway is...
What are you saying? Facts mean nothing? What, do we live in a topsy-turvy world of pixie dust and miracles where the same GPU with the same general specs on one card performs dramatically better than another?
The 9600GT performs better per SP compared to the G80, not the G92. And notice the...
I agree with SmokeRngs, I think enthusiasts could see the potential in the X3. It's not just limited to budget-conscious consumers. It's like Kyle said, one of the most appealing aspects of keeping up with computers is finding the real bargains; seeking the biggest bang for the buck, and reaping...
I think AMD should cancel their Kuma dual core processors. Just produce nothing but Barcelona or Agena cores and sell them as either quad or tri-core chips. Last gen Athlon products can bring up the rear end with budget (dual core) solutions.
Eventually Intel's Q6600 will come down to $200...
Just because a driver is in the same family doesn't mean it didn't fix debilitating issues in some games. Some users are claiming doubled performance going from 8.37 beta to official Catalyst 7.5 in STALKER.

I think it would be in...
You can discredit the benchmarking method til the end of time, the fact of that matter is the results are pretty consistent. EVERYONE else is showing the 8600GTS as just meeting performance par for the price range in the majority of games. This is even seen in BF2142 and WoW in this [H] review...
I think the 256MB does benefit cards that approach 6600GT performance levels. I mean it's getting up there with the likes of the 9800XT of yesteryear. Unlike then though, now we have games that almost consistently use over 128MB. I know 128MB was a bit of a hefty burden on owners of the 6600GT...
Nobody knows how to unlock the pipes on those cards yet. If you could, yes it would give you a substantial gain in performance (as with any card with locked pipes).
Just my speculation, but I have a feeling that because the GT uses a different PCB (and thus power supply system) flashing the BIOS with that of a GTX would foul it up. Don't forget with NVIDIA BIOS's, not just pipeline info is recorded, but voltage options are as well.
OK, so picture this. You walk into some guy's room and you see his PC sitting on the desk.
"Oh god..." you think. What looks to be an extremely old relic of a PC for some odd reason serves as this guy's desktop. "How do you live with that thing?" you ask.
He says, "I get by just fine...
I've seen plenty of results from the AGP versions, but I'm looking to see if the PCIe versions differ a whole lot. I want to see what sort of impact the BR2 bridge chip is making. I also want to see how my 6800GTO stacks up to other people with 6800GTs/Ultras, etc, whether it's dismal OC is just...
