Yeah, technically the Asus has the better screen. They are the same resolution, but it's a night/day difference between the two. The TF201 has a much warmer color tint, it gets brighter (in IPS+ Daylight mode), and everything does look a bit more crisp, detailed, and a little better contrast...
Higher res doesn't automatically mean everything is smaller. It can be, but they'll just increase icon/font size to make it legible. The advantage is that reading smaller text is much clearer and crisp and anything else that runs at a high res should look better.
I got one, still comparing it to my Transformer Prime. Trying to decide which to keep! Unfortunately it looks like the A510 I got is defective as it appears to have some serious heat issues. Otherwise I'm temporarily ignoring that (until a replacement arrives Friday) and trying to get a good...
I take it you're looking for something in the 7" size? Nothing wrong with the Kindle, but if you want a more full featured tablet and don't need all of the apps you get with Android, I'd give a good look at the Blackberry Playbook for $199.
The old Vista MBR must have still been hanging around when you loaded Win7. You can modify the boot.ini directly, or just do it through System Properties. It's the same in Win7 as Vista.
Right-click My Computer -> Properties > Advanced System Settings -> Hardware -> go to Settings under...
I'm having the same issue on one of my notebooks. System wouldn't resume from hibernate (Vista x64), it just sat there until I hard powered off. I didn't really care at first, but then the system started hanging during normal use for no apparent reason. No errors in any log that would apply. All...
256GB SSD is definately a "premium price" drive, and it's very well worth it... if it's in your budget. At least in a notebook.
And there is no reason why you can't have both performance and max storage. Nearly all standard sized desktops and most high-end notebooks offer at least 2 internal...
That's a great deal. I purchased a regular 360 about 2 years ago and then the elite when it came out, both still work great. If they do fail, they've got a nice 3 year warranty. Now maybe I can talk some more people into buy one so we can play on Live. :)
Yep, it is a SSD drive, but the new form factor is limited to 16GB at the moment. I suspect larger drives will follow soon. You can see the actual unit here.

The 910 is also limited to 1GB of DDR2 memory, MAX. :(
Can't get into safe-mode at all? I'm guessing at least XP SP2 or newer? Hit F8 and select the option to disable automatic reboot on system failure. Get the BSOD info, google it, and go from there.
Otherwise, just start stripping it down. Standard troubleshooting... pull external devices...
Nope. Although I don't do a whole lot of gaming on the WLAN, I haven't run into any issues.
Do you have the latest drivers installed? Strong signal with a descent connection speed? Anything else in the house running on 2.4GHz (ie. cordless phones, game controllers, etc)? Lots of encryption...
Well, normally you're not just paying for the connector. Check out the specs. You'll typically find other cool improvements, like better contrast ratio, pixel response time, brightness, viewing angles, etc. Not to mention the actual image will always look better on a DVI connection vs. VGA...
They're all really great motherboards. It's really about what features you want... but more commonly, brand preferences. The dual gigabit... handy for servers. But that's about it. For a home setup... well, no harm in having "redundancy" I suppose. :) I wouldn't pay "extra" for it. If it's...
I've bought many of those all-in-one tool kits over the years. Never been impressed. They're normally a bunch of generic and/or cheap looking tools. I just end up throwing them away and putting my own collection of tools in there. Sears/Home Depot have some smaller "Precision" tools that work...
I prefer the glossy screen when watching movies/games. But I'm also normally in a fairly dark room. Some light isn't going to be a big deal unless even minor reflections just drive you crazy.
I know you're just trying it out, but as long as your TV/Monitor treats the 2 connections the system, which most do, HDMI isn't going to look any better than DVI. :) Probably not worth messing with.
If you're not playing any games or doing anything disk intensive, just add another drive for good measure, run a single RAID 5 array, and call it a day. Or if you are, RAID 10 is quite nice.
Well, even though some need to run 24/7 (ie. Servers), I wouldn't say I can physically use all of them at once. ;) But it also depends on what I'm doing. I do frequently hop on quite a few at the same time. The spinning/rolling chair helps.
I could use Remote Desktop or a KVM for some...
Well, they do have to match, right? :)
And to answer the other questions, they are various Dell puters, but most are notebooks in docking stations so I can swap them out with other notebooks. They do various things, everything from testing a functional domain environment, network...
Most new FP's these days are actually already fairly game worthy. My Dell 2407FP works great for gaming/movies. Just make sure any FP you pickup has a fairly low pixel response time. Anything under 6-8ms would be great. And a descent contrast ratio never hurts.
Yep, running Vista x64 w/ 7900 GTX SLI on my XPS 600 - works great. I had previously tried XP x64, but had way more issues with games. And Vista looks way cooler anyways. :)
Also curious... any reason in particular that you want to know? :)
It's just the name of the AP - not like it's a security key or anything.
But mine is 5.
You can pickup a multi-channel PCI video capture card anywhere (ie. amazon), which basically just has some BNC video connections on it, and including some nifty software to record stuff for you. I have (2) "Q-See" 4-channel cards, along with the 5 cameras (3 more coming soon). There is a...
Yep, memtest 86. But if it becomes rather frequent, you may just be able to pull a DIMM or 2 and see if it goes away. If all that passed and/or checks out, look into other cards you have installed, starting with Video. (ie. reseat the card, swap it out, remove it if not needed, etc).
Well, they're not that old. The Optiplex GX620, XPS M1710, D620... all fairly new. But depending on what they do, they don't really have to be the latest and greatest.
Basically - they're for multi-tasking. Some just download stuff all day, another it used for music, one for car diagnostics...
Here is my setup. Not the best pics of course... but from left to right, you've got a Dell 2007FP, 2005FPW, 2005FPW, 1905FP, 1905FP, 2405FP, and a 1905FP. The tables... just some cheap 6ft folding tables I picked up at office depot. :) They'll be replaced as soon as I can afford to replace them...
You mentioned you get internet via wifi... does this connect through a router? If so, is it forwarding the correct ports, have NAT enabled, and/or UPNP?
I used to run Vista 64 on my main gaming puter, just ran into too many issues. Mainly with drivers that didn't work quite right, or 32-bit apps that weren't happy on the 64-bit OS. The OS did run a tad bit faster and booted up rather quick. Otherwise, I didn't notice any real improvement with...
Could have easily been something on it's way out, and that just pushed it over the edge. However, chkdsk constantly running is fairly typical of an HD failure. I see hard drives fail all the time for no apparent reason, regardless of brand/model. Do you have any diags you can run?
And have...
I actually considered getting one for that very reason. One thing the Ipod does have going for it is that there are a whole lot more accessories for it - especially custom car stereo stuff.
ICS probably isn't forwarding the ports the 360 needs. Even though ICS should use NAT... so it really shouldn't have a problem. But if you want to do this yourself, right-click on your network connection, go to properties, click on the advanced tab, and then the settings button. Then add the...
