I had this issue and it was my TV's fault. Broken pin? No, but I had to hit it a few times; aka loose/flaky connection.

Heck yes you can, but you'll be holding yourself to 800x600 or 1024x768, also by maxing everything out, if you exclude FSAA and AA being maxed, you'll be playable, but not 60fps, more like 30-40ish.

You forgot to mention SUSE Linux! From what I've heard it's the best supported 64 bit distro out there. I would definately recommend giving it a shot. It was also, I believe, the first "commercial" type distro to do 64 bit.

Happened with mine as well, if I wasn't selling it to get a smaller & longer lasting battery life laptop, I would have exchanged it under my Best Buy service plan for a new one. It didn't do it when I first got it, no idea why it started happening though.

Same with the sony Z1, extended battery gives you 6+ hours of true use but it has SXGA+ 14.1", integrated bluetooth, and better specs and is itself a nice peice of eye candy w/ internal optical drive.. so i dont know why else i'd get a 300m from dell...??

Tests are working fine for me, but I do get some weird error message at first when the 3d view pops up, but it doesn't seem to affect anything. I auto detected core and memory and am now happily running at 447 / 243. ;)

I am using the drivers that emachines included with the machine, but it's my own fresh install of xp professional. The drivers are on the 3rd CD of the restore set.
