First off it's great to see most of the community understand both the problem and my reasoning. Thanks for all the input guys
I too came to the same conclusion that even though i can create a 'diy super cap' it's still not going to flush the writes. Given enough power, some models will simply...
Would a capacitor on the 12v line running into the SSD provide the same function as a supercap allowing it to finish writing?
Building it would be ultra simple and provide a second or two of power without any trouble. Considering the write time is in the micro seconds, could that be a viable...
So i've been searching everything i can think of to find a driver for this. I tried drivers for opensolaris and several linux distributions.
I'm not sure why i've got a 12c version of this after reading all the threads it seems nobody recommends it for zfs...
So i'm in the design stages of my ZFS system. I've got a 10GBE iSCSI for my main connection to my ZFS & my Virtual Server. I'm looking at connections to my clone station & workstation. I'd like to go with a minimum of 2GFC so i can clone disks (SATA 2) at near native speeds directly to my ZFS...
Thanks Nex7! Great info. I'm a ZFS beginner, but feel like i'm getting a better understanding of the 'root' of it.
I'm a bit overwhelmed but i'm still going to attempt a backup server with ZFS....
I too don't have the time to spend. However i do have a few dozen 200gb+ drives lying around. Thanks for pointing me to the 'easy' solution for a guy who just doesn't have the time to learn entire OS's
Well i've been searching the forum for a firewall i found a while back that i just loved. It was a free basic package with adon's such as Active Directory support.
So i though we could start a thread dedicated to all the different software firewall's.

I bought this board solely on [H] editor's choice. I've never bought a high end board before. However after seeing what my 1055T should be doing i had to see for myself.
Already i'm disappointed, running 2x RAID 0 with my vertex drives i'm maxing at 650MB, with 2 vertex left i was just...
I work for a gal who's husband is certifiable. He takes everything apart because the government has cameras in everything. I'm talking smoke detectors to the big screen. Anyway after buying a 4th laptop she had me epoxy the screws so he couldn't take it apart...
Sounds like they need to...
Thanks for your opinion always interesting i'm sure.
I haven't started testing the 10gbps link between this machine and my monster hypervisor. I do find it mildly entertaining i need to defend a reason for things to work as they should.
So my ASUS Crosshair V Formula arrived today. I swapped the components and installed Win7 with ALL default settings in the bios.
I installed all the drivers then did an ATTO benchmark. Nothing to surprising there.
I thought Raid 0 could nearly double the speeds. But no luck. Can someone...
Does anyone know what the little "Clicky" thing is used for on the side. About the same size as a SD card. Mine slides out and has the MAC info for the wireless if i'm remembering right. I was HOPING that was a SD card slot, but that does not appear to be true as i cannot get part that is in out.
Whats that cost you a month?
I too think colo is your best bet. As stated above if you outline your operation you wont have folks expecting something you cannot provide. You're going to need a couple monster UPS's to get started. I've got about 4000w sitting at my office needing new batteries...
Hey guys just a thought here. In the places we have to keep emails for legal purposes we have an email vault. Every email that gets delivered also gets copied to the vault. Maybe your IT department already does this & your being redundant.
You and a million others...
I'm only looking for 20, 1 for each bathroom, 1 for each member of my brothers Special Forces Team, 1 for me, 1 for two of my customers and the rest to gouge people on ebay to pay for the others.
If all the [H] members would sign up with a fake ebay account, then wait till the last second to bid something stupid on every touchpad, you'd stop the ebay madness...
Well it would frustrate some other [H] members too... :D
I've got a IBM M1015 and i'm wanting to setup the 4 drives in RAID 10. I get to the place where you select RAID 1e/10 and there are no disks to add. However if i boot into setup, i can choose to install on any of the 4 disks.

I've had mine since Saturday. The webos is shockingly intuitive. Internet, Facebook, kindle, flash, Adobe, are all there out of the box. I'm not an app crazy sort of guy, but I've downloaded several games. For a in the box solution, this thing has been great.
When the android hack comes along...
