Video capture devices not working in Win 7

It seems I found the cause of the capture drivers not functioning or not being present although no solution for restoring them as of this writing. I booted to another drive with an old image of the operating system from two years back. I decided to use this image as the basis for a fresh OS...

Video capture devices not working in Win 7

I'm having an issue getting a couple of video capture devices to work in a Win 7 x64 system. The devices in question are a Logitech C920 webcam and a PCI-E Hauppage TV card. Both were working flawlessly earlier this year and then they stopped functioning. The TV card just shows a blank picture...

Make this Christmas [H]ard to forget

A very belated congrats to the team!! I long knew this was within the realm of possibilities. Apologies for not being present during the awe inspiring push to overtake Default. Couldn't handle the heat of summer and the never ending cleaning routine/maintenance of my aging systems. I...

What have I just gotten myself into! (cheap 2P system)

Hmm... I didn't know that throttling can potentially become an issue... I never reached the frequency you've attained yet specifically because the multipliers on my processors are smaller being lower binned CPUs, but, I have encountered temperatures well in excess of 70C (summertime/poorly...

What have I just gotten myself into! (cheap 2P system)

OK, one disclaimer before I post a link to possible volt increases: I never attempted this mod, perform at your own risk... Here's what appears to be a chart detailing various voltage mods for Harpertown... http://forums.2cpu.com/showpost.php?p=743778&postcount=180

What have I just gotten myself into! (cheap 2P system)

Consider yourself fortunate if you are able to OC at all on your motherboard (don't know what board you're using). I'm running 3644MHz with my E5440s but that is on my Skulltrail that supports all kinds of OCing. I still haven't reached the OC ceiling yet and that's using 667MHz RAM. Still way...

What have I just gotten myself into! (cheap 2P system)

I just noticed this thread and didn't have time to go through the whole discussion yet. Anyone wants information on LGA 771 just let me know. I've been running these systems for at least 4 years and did just about anything you can imagine folding-wise. I probably have one of the most extensive...

    GTX 650 Ti PPD

You want to know something funny, my GTS 450 averages about ~10 PPD and at the moment it's folding an 8000-series WU @ 15K PPD. Even though I receive the occasional WU that drops the 450's performance to around 7K, they are not that common. Mind you the card is OCed substantially. I guess I...

    Anyone else having issues?

Yep, you're probably encountering the same problem I did yesterday. I posted about it here: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1732716 If you can get a hold of the new core from somewhere and replace the old one with it, you will be able to download new WUs. That's what I did and I'm...

Cannot get new GPU core 15 to install

I vaguely remember this happened to me a couple of years back when there was another core update. I guess this is unrelated to the current update and possibly a configuration problem somewhere. It's weird that 5 systems would get stuck like that. I don't know what I would have done if I didn't...

Cannot get new GPU core 15 to install

I forgot about my 11th GPU client I have running, which happens to be a low-end 400-series Fermi card. This client already had the v2.25 FahCore_15.exe file, so I transplanted it into all my other clients, and it works. Now I'm wondering if I did the right thing because my G80-flagged clients...

Cannot get new GPU core 15 to install

Thanks for the quick replies. I have been assigned FahCore_15 WUs on these clients up to version 2.22 for quite a long while. The new core seems to have many changes included likely because of the QRB units. I don't know if this is somehow affecting my clients. My GPUs are a mix bag of G80...

Cannot get new GPU core 15 to install

I noticed there has been some talk about a new GPU core for beta WUs or somesuch, and my clients attempted a force installation of the new core tonight without success. I'm still using the console client and I get the endless repeated cycle of downloaded new core, error, redownload, etc., then...

[H] Folders Take The #1 Spot Again!

The top 20 (what it takes)

We'll see. Perhaps I'm a bit overly optimistic, perhaps not. We're currently up to how many calculations a second with the highest performance machines working on the project? I'm sure the coders and engineers on the project would know far better than anyone on this forum. It would be very...

The top 20 (what it takes)

I have my personal doubts about this, TTYTT. It might take a long time, but there has to be a definable limit becasue the human body is not a technological device that can continue to scale in complexity indefinitely. Second paragraph in the following post...

    An Adventure Into LGA 771

I had that board for a couple of days. Gave me nothing but trouble but it wasn't new. Also, this board won't support software FSB OCing if you want to get max performance out of it.

    An Adventure Into LGA 771

Do you have or will be getting a dual-socket 771 board? That's where they can be best utilized running the standard SMP client with four cores. I'd rather put them in a GPU system, but then they're not that good for SMP tasks, and that's why they're collecting dust being nothing more useful than...

    An Adventure Into LGA 771

I have a pair of matching low-end duals that I haven't touched in a year and are collecting dust. They're hardly useful at all now except to power a couple of GPU clients or some classic clients.

Where were you last year, LOL? I'm not in an acquisition phase but may be interested in upgrading my Skulltrail's E5430 chips. PM me when you know more of what you have in your inventory. I'd be interested solely in 45nm stuff and something higher binned than my 5430s. TIA

You guys crack me up, thanks again! :) Nice to see you Alan!! I didn't check the stats for 100M-pt folders but that is very interesting. Yeah, looks like it's getting closer and closer. Gratz to apollo 100million

Thanks a bunch guys, I really appreciate it. I'm going to continue folding into April while the weather is still on the nippy side. Not sure how much longer that will last. Temps have been below freezing at nights. Probably a few more weeks since it doesn't warm up here until well into spring...

Those numbers are pretty scary indeed. It's a lot of science for sure and we can use the competition from lower ranked teams to get us more motivated. Although I've seen people hit above the 1M mark before, I don't recall anyone producing this much.

    Wrap party for Apollo?

Wow, this is surprising! I truly appreciate the sentiment MIBW, and it was very unexpected to see this thread. Well, I won't be leaving right away because it's still a bit cold here especially at nights (below freezing) and will probably continue folding for a little while longer, at least to...

    Major new folder around

I totally agree and to think this project has been in operation for a decade... In any case, one possible reason F@H may not have implemented an abort feature is because it could be abused for the reassignment of more productive WUs, but that opens up a huge other argument about the flawed...

    Major new folder around

If he's a new folder he may not be aware of the ramifications. Many long term folders don't even know the reasons why it's not good for the research to terminate WUs before completion. Another possibility is that his work may have required him to shut down these systems within a prescribed...

    112XX GPU3 WU's are a HUGE improvement

Yes and you could be right, I just don't have the foggiest. If it's indeed the architecture, it speaks of something very bizarre going on. I only have one Fermi GPU client. Task Manager was indicating approximately 4-5% CPU usage, yet the -bigadv WU this system was processing jumped over 15...

    112XX GPU3 WU's are a HUGE improvement

They're great if you don't mind there's no science being worked on and don't have any CPU clients running on the same machine. These WUs hit my -bigadv client so hard that I had no choice but to shut down the GPU client for a couple of days, otherwise the SMP WU may not have made the bonus...
