Thanks for the replies guys.
I don't have an issue with the round robin, and technically my POP works because its still pointing to the mail server on NS1, but for my webmail (using mail enable) the virtual directory in IIS is www.hostname/mewebmail and when DNS queries are pointing to NS2...
The records are the same, and the secondary only has a read-only copy. What i'm saying is on the Primary name server, there are two (A) records:
WWW - 68.x.x.x
WWW - 65.x.x.x
Both can resolve a hostname, the issue is that i've got my mailserver running on NS1 and when the www is pointing to NS2 the mail doesn't work because it's pointing to the NS1 IP.
Hi all,
I've got a DNS question that i'm hoping someone can help me out with. I'm running a Primary and Secondary name server in two different geographical locations, on seperate public class c networks.
I have replication setup so any changes that are made to the primary are then...
I'm doing some recreational experimination with wi-fi, and i'm curious if a CB antenna will work or any other over the counter antenna that will provide a higher gain in signal than the standard loaded base antenna. Has anyone else been sucessful with anything over the counter?
I'm not...
Use the 700mhz P3, put 2 NIC's in it and use it as a smoothwall router/firewall w/ DHCP.
-Run a RED + GREEN config on the smoothwall box
-Run the RED NIC into your cable modem
-Run the GREEN NIC into your 24 port switch.
-Run all the client machines off of the switch.
-Use the Wireless...
I have had my D-Link 8 port 10/100 Hub for over 7 years now, routing a 10 client network 24/7/365, and have towed it around on numerous home moves and at least 15 lan parties. I swear by D-Link.
start -> settings -> control panel -> network connections -> find your Local Area Connection, right click, properties. Under there, make sure it is checked.

Hi all, I am about to go crazy. My computer has been freezing lately and i cant pinpoint the problem. It seems everytime i run a search on the harddrive it freezes, or anytime sitting at the desktop for a long period of time it will freeze. I've ran a hard drive diagnostic test and it came...
WOW! No shit. That color difference is amazing..that "Post Processing" is on WHILE the dvd is playing? (Meaning it denoises, filters, etc while the dvd is playing rather than saving it to the hdd and encoding it in a better format type thing)
Hey all,
I've decided to purchase a 74gb WD Raptor SATA drive and need a SATA controller because my Epox 8rda+ motherboard does not have onboard SATA.
I've done a little research, and found this:
http://www.pacificdigital.com/talon/
I guess it's specifically designed to improve...
I'm starting to think the problem may be the harddrive. When windows is booting, it is taking 20-30 seconds before it starts loading the splash screen, and when windows XP loads, whether i'm in safe mode or regular, anytime i do a virus scan on the harddrive, it will freeze after about 2-3...
Hey all, I have just recently replaced my AMD XP Barton 2500+ for a AMD XP-Mobil Barton 2400+, and am running the 2400+ at 11x200.
I ran Prime95 for over 15 hours without a problem until the machine froze. I thought the freezing was a result of the stress test, but pretty much every night...
I'm looking for a HDTV under $2000, i'm quite ignorant when it comes to multimedia and tv's, so i've basically been looking at any Sony that had a good picture.
I think I am definatly going to build a HTPC system, do most people that run high end HTPC systems run their...
Haha, thanks. I've done some more searching and it sounds pretty damn cool. I am currently building a house and plan on getting a big HDTV...this doesn't sound like a bad idea...i've got a few extra servers that i could turn one into a HTPC system..
pardon my ignorance, maybe i just don't know the capabilities of HTPC systems, but isn't this basically an overpriced dvd player?
what are the benefits over a standard $60 dvd player from radio shack?
Hey all, i just built a new box with an Epox EP-8KMM3I motherboard and a AMD XP Mobil Barton 2400+ and it's posting at 800mhz (133x6). I changed the jumper on the motherboard from 100mhz to 133mhz fsb, but it seems that you can't change the multiplier anywhere in the bios. I flashed the bios...
i don't care about space...that's not an issue
i just want a setup that will utulize brute force number crunching and fast install times for apps and programs...i just don't want the bottleneck on my dually to be the hdd. i will also be doing encoding/decoding of audio video and smp password...
Hey all, I am getting a GIGABYTE "GA-7DPXDW-P" motherboard for the dual AMD SMP rig I am building. This board has onboard RAID, and I was wondering what would be faster, 2 WD 80gig drives with the 8mb cache in raid0, or 1 Raptor 74gb with a PCI SATA controller?
Hey all, I'm buying either a Tyan or Gigabyte motherboard for the SMP machine I am building. Neither of these boards have onboard SATA, and I really like the 74gb raptors. Can anyone recommend a SATA controller? I don't need RAID, i am only buying one hdd. thanks
I decided to get the MSI K7D off of ebay. The seller said that it is not the Master L model, but says "Version 1" on the MB. Is this a good revison board? Will I just need to download the latest bios? I am worried because the board is not a L model that it may be an outdated board??
Thanks man. Here is what it says under the memory section for the MSI K7D Master board:
FSB
Supports 200/266MHz FSB
Main Memory
Four 184-pin DDR DIMM.
Maximum memory size up to 4GB. (Registered DDR only)
Slots
One AGP PRO slot.
Two 64-bit/66MHz PCI slots.

Thanks man. I am going to get 2 2800+ MP's with the first board, and use an Antec 430 watt P/S to power. Now i'm just looking at ram. I'm looking at PC3200 ECC ram
Thanks for the information all, but I have one more question. I've found two MSI K7D boards on Ebay, and have been bidding on one. This is the board i'm bidding on:
http://i20.ebayimg.com/02/i/01/f4/91/98_1_b.JPG
That looks like the normal MSI K7D board that i've seen in all the...
Is the MSI K7D Master board a better board than the lower end Tyan or Super Micro? Also, can I use Unregistered and non ecc ram in the first 2 slots in the MSI board?
Hey all, I've decided that it's time to build an SMP machine and would like some input before I purchase. I'm going to build AMD but don't know the in's and out's of the SMP world yet.
I plan to go with an MSI K7D Master Motherboard off ebay, unless there is another board that is better...
