Snarky comments aside, I returned the creative card for the Asus Xonar DX, which received many favorable reviews. The problem still persists, even on a computer wipe, so it certainly wasn't the Soundblaster's fault!
Any other ideas or is this more of a Windows 7 software post at this point?
Thanks for the reply. I just tried plugging my headset into the soundcard directly. Latency still exists. I'm thinking I should return it? Maybe it is a faulty card?
EDIT: I also tried a clean wipe of my HDD, reinstalling 7 and everything. No luck.
UPDATE: I tried switching the sound card to different PCIe slots. It sounds a bit better, but the latency is still such that I can't do much. Any other thoughts?
Hi all,
I am rocking a custom computer (specs below). I recently bought a new soundblaster card after my Audigy 2Zs crapped out ( upgraded to Recon3d PCIe). When I plug into my new card's line-in with a mic (or using a USB mixer), the quality of my mic or instrument is solid, but there is...
Hello and thanks for reading this thread. My new mobo (specs below) is not recognizing any of my regular PCI cards (namely my sound card and wireless device). Any idea why this is? Should I not have installed them all at once?
Ok, the floppy cable was defective. So now I am going to attempt to do the F6 installation. You are correct, Ozone, but both microsoft and intel recommend installing SATA drivers first.
EDIT: Success! I am not installing windows on my new hard drive! Thanks for all your help, guys!
No, the drive in not recognized in the BIOS. Also, my motherboard does not recognize the floppy drive I have connected. Any thoughts on how I can load the RAID drivers without the floppy?
I tried this change initially, and I still get the same error message. Perhaps I have a faulty hard drive? It is brand new though. Thanks for the help!
Thanks for reading this thread. I am currently putting together a new computer (specs are in my signature). When I try to install Windows XP Pro, an error message comes up stating, it cannot find any connected hard drives. My SATA drive is clearly connected to the motherboard, as well as the...
Looks like an mATX case to me. Only three or four PCI/AGP slots in the back? A foot and a half high? You may have to do some slight mods. It's hard finding an ATX powersupply that fits perfectly into an mATX case. Hope everything works out!
Good to hear! I contacted Antec about the issue and they recently replied, stating:
"yes there is a conflict between the 2 I would suggest another antec ps"
...well no crap they suggest their own products  , but he was pretty straightforward in stating there was a problem...
Thanks for reading this thread. I had a major computer malfunction and I need to run the recovery program off my windows cd. Everything goes well, until it asks me for my administrator password. I type it in, and it states that the password is incorrect!!! Any idea what could be wrong and...
I second the worries about morning dew. The crawlspace in our old house got so dirty and damp.. it'd be horrible for a computer. Can't you put it under a bed or on a bookcase or something? Good luck to you!
Viper, some mATX cases will fit standard ATX PSUs, if you are willing to modify your case a little bit. I did this once and all I need was a drill to realign screw holes.
What series computer is it so I can look up it size to be sure?
Hello all,
I was working on a computer (trying to find the problem with it) when I realized the AGP (nVidia Gforce 5900se) card was damaged somehow beyond repair. I removed it, and tried to run everything off the Intel board's integrated graphics. Now when I start the computer, it randomly...
My computer setup is listed in my signature. I just wanted thoughts from more experienced system builders. It's a bear trying to find a good PSU and I have the truepower sitting around unused....
Did you try using the power calculator in the sticky post? Personally, I think 850 W is more than enough. But it is always better to have more than less!
Yikes, Dr. That's what I'm afraid of! What kind of computer do you have out of curiosity? Did it require a lot of power? I hate to hear Antec is so crappy now. My only other option in an unopened Antec 500W SmartPower. And I have no money for a new one...
It's been three years since I activated the OS. The thing is I really don't have time to do a lot of that backup stuff. Maybe I should just try switching the hard drives in my case, do a repair off the windows CD, then call Microsoft.
Thanks for all the ideas!
So I am creating a new computer for myself and have decided to give my father my old motherboard and pentium 4. Basically, I just want to move his hard drives into my computer. Will this create a problem with the windows certificate/authentication? We both have registered copies of Windows...
Hello all. I posted a similar thread in Power Supplies, because I'm not sure which category this falls under... I have an Intel G965W board and just recently got the Antec neohe 550 from a great New Egg deal. However, I hear now that this PSU hates Intel boards (it's already well documented...
I heard about the problem with Asus boards and the neohe models. The PSU came in a combo deal from NewEgg, so I picked it up. I have heard a few complaints concerning the 550w unit not working with my DG965W Intel board. Do you think Antec or Intel has addressed this issue? Will updating my...
It seems to be working now. I actually downloaded that program for my registry key. Apparently that spyware wouldnt go down without a fight. Thanks guys.
Yes, I just recently removed a motherload of spyware and Trojans. My roommate is hooked up to the exact same router, so I know that isn't the problem. I am using Windows XP.
Hello All,
Thanks for checking out my thread. I have a unique problem I (as well as my friends) are unable to solve. When I first start my computer, I am able to connect to the internet with no hassles. (It does not require a password/username and is a constant broadband connection)...
Thanks for checking out this post. I have a GeForce FX 5900 se video card. When I installed Max Payne, everything was cool. The game starts up ok, but as soon as I start the mission, the game turns off after a couple seconds on the load screen. Any thoughts why? Thank again!
