It ended up being my video card. I went ahead and replaced it with a 8800gt. I used an endangered 939 socket motherboard I found at Goodwill, lol. I'll tell you guys how it turns out.
I bought this card when it first came out. It's the Nvidia manufactured one. I was on the bleeding edge back then, lol. The warranty is expired :(
I'm going to try thermal paste, and get back to you guys by this weekend. I really appreciate all the help. I've been registered to this forum for...
Thanks guys. I'll try that.
If it also helps, I can boot into safe mode (by blindly using the keyboard after POST), and it looks fine. I've tried Driver Cleaning and rebooting. Same results.
I have a 6800 gt that I've had for a while. Starting two days ago, I started getting artifacts on the screen. I tried re-installing drivers and cooling down the card. It got better. Then, all of sudden, while playing Company of Heroes, it started crashing. Now when I start the computer, the POST...
My friend just got a BenQ FP202W monitor today and for some reason the DVI doesn't work.
Everything is plugged in correctly, but for some reason when he switches the monitor to DVI mode it just says it gets no signal. He's using a Radeon X800 Pro video card.
If anyone can help, it'd...
Or my friend's card, rather. He had purchased a GeForce 6600GT for a PCI-express slot and a 350W power supply to power it, but he kept getting messages saying that there was not enough power being supplied to the card to power it effectively. After asking around, people told me that his...
My friend recently bought a GeForce 6600GT Overclocked graphics card with 128MB GDDR3 ram by BFG Tech (runs on a PCI-express slot).
He's met all the system requirements for it, including having a 350w power supply, however sometimes a window will pop up saying that there is not enough power...
I try to boot ANY nvidia drivers for my 6800gt (and my MX 440 card that I know works). I boot comp. I get past Windows XP logo screen. Then the screen goes black. I can hear the Windows booting music, so I know the comp is working! It's such a tease.
I can access the comp through safe mode...
Would this card be recommended?

Is there a big difference in 256mb and 128mb cards?
Well, that's my problem. I just installed the new 4.9 drivers. I even reverted back to the 4.8 drivers, but still no luck. I don't know what the problem is.

I have a BBSaphire X800pro that I bought when they first came out a couple of months ago. I was wondering if there's an update on the success rate of modding my card to a x800xt.
Last I heard, most, if not all, (about 7 cases I've heard from) Sapphire x800pros could be modded.
Links would...
Thanks for reply.
58 is the idle temp. 62 is the load temp (sometimes hits 66C).
The case temp is 37C though!!!
I'm using an aeroflow heatsink ($25 with the packaged thermal paste). Do you think Arctic Silver 5 would do the trick?
The computer keeps restarting or shutting down for some reason. Do you think it's because of the cpu temp?
How can I lower the temp?
AMD 2400+ Thouroughbred

A7v266-C Mobo
80G Maxtor HD
Really excited about these mobos, but the only processor I can find for them is the A64 3500+, which is $400!!!
Are they gonna release any cheaper processors (like A64 3000+) for socket 939?
Thanks!
I see these mobile xp's averaging at 2.5 ghz!!! What mobile xp would get me the fastest speed, and would that be able to beat out an AMD64 3000+ in performance?
I'm not really interested in 64-bit technology by the ways.
Also, which would be the most cost-effective? Bang for buck?
THANKS!
Friend's computer just built and the monitor is not receiving a signal. Monitor is not the problem. Even the video card doesn't seem to be the problem (tried with GFX5200, G4mx440, and GF5200 pci). What could possibly be wrong?!

I've heard about how the Radeon 9800xt has 8 pipes and X800pro has 12 pipes and X800xt has 16 pipes. These "pipes" apparently dramatically increase performance.
But what exactly are they, and what do they do?
Thanks for the quick reply. Now for another question :p :
How d'you flash your GPU bios to the XT version?
Thorough explanation would be greatly appreciated!
First question - I hear it's unecessary to even flash the bios to an XT. Is this true?
Another question - What can I use to connect the two points?
Last question - What and where can I find conducive paint?
I'd like to overclock my system. I have a general idea of how to overclock, but I'm not going to make a hundred dollar gamble on it. Can you guys give me links/tips/advice on how to overclock and make my computer faster? I heard you can make it go 3200+ speeds with the right equipment...
