Hey thanks!
You gotta admit, compared to the price of your speaker setup, you could get a fairly nice HD650 setup for peanuts........... guess it comes down to whether you have a use for headphones. :D
I also have to say that near the beginning of the article, I thought what kyle said was a little strange (just didn't sound right to me), though people are entitled to say strange things.
I also would like to say that the name of the article "Commodore Rocks...Because I Said So" is really...
Pinipig523 is probably spot on JacobC1983. Although I have not heard the 680 series, the 600 series bookshelfs are VERY dependent on placement! I can't imagine the 680 series is much different from what I saw.
Even putting them on stands and moving them outside of the entertainment center...
Viper is dead on. I mean, seriously, if you are not one of those people who would drive around town with 10,000 watts of one note bass, the Closed Darth's are a serious question.
Oh my goodness, when I got mine right out of the box, they sounded soooooo awful! Really, it was like two subs...
The K340 that I had was very far off from my HD650, and it leaked a lot of sound in. Maybe I had the bass light version, and they think the bass version sounds like the HD650?
Oh my gooodness philodox, that is so amazing! I assume SWT61 did the work?
I especially love the wooden box that is on the top middle part of the amp, stunning!
He really should sell his stuff.
Ah! Now that's the question!
So far, the Senns have more bass slam, I can feel the quickness to the bass. The darths have more weight, I can feel the prolonged energy of bass notes. The senns are more neutral, with the Darth's being more pernounced. Tough call really, and at the moment I...
Haha, think of the GS-1 as just a wire with amplification. My source is plenty warm enough. Though, I do have a tube amp on the way, and will have to see how I like it.
And what does it mean to be on the brutal side? I've never heard that expression before.
I've heard them at different meets, but that was less than ideal to judge, so I ordered them. I'm actually quite surprised at how they sound. I'm very happy with them. They are about the same quality level as my moded Darth Beyers, just different.
My home setup is:
Audigy 2 ZS > MHdt Labs...
This is what I think of the Atrio M5.
As for the shure SE530, I think they are a rip off, lack a smooth midrange, and lack bass weight and slam for my tastes.
I think I'm going to return both of these IEM's, they just leave way to much to desire, ESPECIALLY at the Shure's price.
Yea, those are the new Black Shure 'olives' foam earplugs. I think I have small on the Shures in that picture. If you are thinking of getting some, your best bet is to start with the medium's and see how they fit, and then go from there (unless you want to order them all).
I've actually never tried mine out of a Tube amp yet. I have a Woo WA6 on order, but it's still a few weeks off.
Stock, and heck even with my putty mod, these are warm headphones, so at the very least you want an amp that has a tight bass.
Right now I have mine running out of a fairly...
After I did my 'Drew mod' to my Darth Beyers, I have not heard a headphone sub 1000$ that I like better...... So, by 'fixing' up the DT770pro, I have saved money and got a pleasing looking headphone to boot.
Yea, the DT770pro have a fair amount of bass weight, and like you say they are lacking in bass slam and quality. Boy, I can't wait to hear the L3000 again now.
