nvidia has yet to implement 1.2. its all 1.1a on nvidia cards right now, go with the 6000 series from ATI
Thanks for the info, that's a bummer. I only use AMD for testing; I refuse to run one of their products as my primary, high-end card. (Problems with Maya, cursor corruption which hasn't...
Thanks Liekomg, I know that they work with that cable, as that's what I'm doing now. I just want to know if there are any 1.2 cards to future proof myself a bit.
Thanks for the insults, but you really don't know WTF.
I already measured GPU load and clock speed with GPU-Z while this happens. I bought a Quadro because it's always good to have a card to test on (I build niche 3D apps for a living) and I thought it might help with multi-display...
I bought Apple's 27" LED Cinema Display, which can only be driven by Displayport. My machine has has a Radeon 5770 and GTX 470 in it.
The GTX 470 drives the primary monitor, but unfortunately windowed game performance on the Cinema Display suffers even though the GTX 470 is driving the game. I...
I'd like to get this as a gift. What sizes should I be looking at? 27"? This will be driven by a newer MacBook with HDMI or DVI, and will probably be mostly DVDs and Netflix, where the quality isn't superb to begin with. Maybe a larger Westinghouse?
Instead of messing with the INF, install the driver and edit your registry manually. Then reboot.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{92BCC990-E567-430E-A9A1-31057B0D2357}\0000]
"OverrideEdidFlags0"=hex:1e,6d,3f,56,00,00,ff,ff,0 4,00,00,00,7e,01,00
You will have...
2. Yes, dedicated from the 750W Corsair PSU
3. I monitored the fan speed (and controlled it) with the NV control panel add-in, and GPU-Z. The fan speed was adequate during Furmark.
4. What would you recommend to blow away both ATI and NVIDIA drivers?
It happens so infrequently that it's hard to test. I need to run Furmark or something similar for 24 hours.
The 5770 shouldn't be drawing much while it's idle, and it is actually idle according to a GPU-Z. Maybe there are some weird driver interactions having both the 470 and 5770 in the...
I'm using Real Temp and I see a GPU temperature of 85°C under 16X AA load for my custom software. The SC2 beta is down at the moment.
88°C during Heaven 2.0, 1920x1200 4X AA extreme
I just installed a Galaxy GTX 470 alongside an HD 5770. These cards are driven by a Corsair HX 750W PSU. Windows 7 64-bit.
I'm using the 197.75 drivers directly from NVIDIA.
The Starcraft 2 beta has caused the only BSOD, but my own 3D software has also caused the NVIDIA driver to restart...
I was tired of the 5770 corrupting (garbling) the mouse cursor, especially after SC2. The other option was running with a software mouse cursor in Windows (by enabling trails), but then the cursor is laggy and unusable.
In my case a 5770 would output a 1920x1200 60Hz "PC" signal as reported by the monitor, but the GTX 470 would always output 1080p TV signal, no matter what signal type I requested.
I finally built a desktop for my home office, instead of relying on a laptop. It's been about 5 years since I've had a desktop video card, so this HD 5770's capabilities are new to me.
Can I use the DisplayPort on this card to drive a 10bpp monitor for something akin to true HDR? It'd be...
Thanks for the reassurance.
I want heterogeneous video cards; not SLI/CrossFire for performance, but I want to debug 3D code on AMD/NVIDIA without switching workstations.
Thanks for explaining. :)
What would you recommend for a very quiet, stable, never-going-to-be-OC'd system?
Motherboard, case, and HS/F.
I'm using a notebook with a 2.6 GHz mobile C2D with 4GB of RAM and an X-25M, and I'd like my home machine to be significantly faster to warrant the upgrade...
The T3500 is "qualified" to run dual Quadro equivalents of the GTX 260. I don't what amperage it provides, but Dell is specifically claiming that the PSU is good for it.
Hah. I think all cases are made out of inexpensive materials and are massively overpriced. What makes these Dell case worse to use, listen to, work with, open, etc. compared to other cases?
I have a Sonata which I personally feel is a piece of crap compared to the newer Dell cases.
What's the expected socket lifetime for these i7s? I don't mind getting a 920 if I can expect a nice jump next year. Otherwise I'll eat the cost for the faster one.
Thanks for the offer, but I can grab a friend of mine who's still quite into building if I'm that lazy.
AFAIK, the absolute minimum costs for an equivalent to the T3500 or 435 are these:
~3 GHz i7 = $570
Nice case to move around in = $150
X58 Motherboard = $250
PSU = $100
That's...
Purely convenience. The last desktop I assembled for personal use was a P4 3.0C, although I built my last for-work-station around an E6600.
I want something quiet, stable, and without any fuss.
I also want something for the SC2 beta. :)
I'm now looking at a Precision T3500, with a W3540, and the minimum spec for everything else. I'll buy 12GB of RAM and the video cards from NewEgg.
Anything dumb about this move?
I was pretty set on Dell's 730x, but realized it only has 3 slots for RAM. We have some 630s at work that I really like, build-wise.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Heavy C/C# and 3D development. I'd like it to be decently quiet (hence the...
I'm running Vista 64-bit, and the unsigned driver rule can be circumvented by
Holding down F8 while booting to install them, and
bcdedit -set nointegritychecks ON to permanently set it.
Warning, I'm getting a small amount of corruption on my non-RAID SATA drives. I'm not overclocking, and I have 2x 8800GTX and all RAM slots populated. There is a monster thread about this problem on eVGA's site.
Sorry, I meant crappy implementations of overdrive are suspected to increase input lag. People on the forum seem to suggest that panels with overdrive electronics tend to have worse input lag.
Even a slow mouse doesn't compare to the input lag I've experienced.
I just used two Samsung 244Ts, and felt input lag. My 2001FP at home is a little worse, while the four Dell 2005/2007s here at work exhibit no lag at all.
I'd really like to buy a new large monitor to replace my two 2007s, but I can't stand input lag. Any suggestions?
Running the script enables mouse look, just as in an FPS. You can just do it via the console with "in_mouseLook 1"
The left mouse button moves your forward in the direction you're looking, while right moves you backwards. The idea is to fly above the ocean while looking down on it, stressing...
