It was nothing particularly complicated. The settings here more or less sum up what I did:
It was a 50mm macro lens that can focus down to about 1cm in front of the lens. I couldn't use a flash, since it would wash out the screen. I instead opened the aperture (f/2.8) to let in as much light...
Absolutely not! If someone doesn't want you linking to their page, they have the right to take their site off the web or password protect it; this is not your problem.
Absolutely not! It does depend on how much of the article you want to quote, but quoting and citing another source is...
Vim looks for your resource file in your home directory. On a Windows machine, this will be something like C:\Documents and Settings\username\_vimrc. Note that under Windows, Vim will look for both (xor? I'm not sure which order) _vimrc and .vimrc; the former is more convenient at times because...
Probably the same thing, yeah. You should stick to the so-called named entities if you have the choice, since they're easier to remember and interpret. If you ever need it, I maintain a list (reformatted from some reference spec) here. You may want to browse through that for some other less...
Looking much better. The only thing that really stuck out to me is that your menu across the top looks like breadcrumbs instead of a menu. Compare your menu in terms of look and function to the similar construct on this page. It would probably be fine if you just took out the »s.
Just make sure you provide an alternative if the client also has Javascript disabled. As for tutorials, check out A List Apart's "Suckerfish Dropdowns" article. If you're impatient, jump straight to the demo page.
There's a lot more going on there than just bad markup for the Flash object. The most serious flaw is that you've got gobs of display markup inside the <head> that must be moved to the <body>. You should also consider moving the roughly 200 lines of CSS in the HTML file into the stylesheet...
The fact that it looks (more or less) fine in Firefox and Opera suggests to me that you are experiencing some IE-specific quirks. Try out IE7 (the Javascript package, not the Microsoft beta!) and see if that helps. If it does, it will be a good starting point for figuring out what needs to be...
I'm not sure what you mean there. Unfortunately, I have been sloppy lately with my del.icio.us bookmarks, but you can see that I've got the tags ("labels" in Google parlance) organized into bundles.
I've been using del.icio.us for quite a while now; even worked on the sidebar extension for a...
There are several ways you can go about generating Javadocs for your code. I used Ant with this build file to (more or less) automate the process. You can see the resulting documentation here. You may also want to look at some sample code to see how to format your Javadoc comments properly.
Yes. I don't see what this has to do with my point. I'm not interested in more semantic squabbling with you, though. It's all rather moot without knowledge of what sorts of methods he's planning on assigning to the parts (which I suspect he doesn't know, either ;)).
Sounds like you'd be better off customizing a pre-built CMS. This site allows you to test drive most of the current popular systems. Just about any popular CMS will have a skin or theme system to allow you to integrate your own design, and most have some amount of modularity to allow you to...
Of course, many nouns (member variables) in Java have associated verbs (accessor methods and such). Is there some other distinction you're trying to draw?
There are so many ways you could go about this. For example, you could have a class BodyPart that has a name, a position, a list of other...
Can you explain what is particularly amazing about that photo? I assume that if there were something amazing about it, it would be obvious, but I don't actually have any idea what you're talking about. :confused:
Indeed. You always want to get the photo looking as good as possible before bringing it into your photo software, but these sorts of things can be decently fixed very trivially. This took all of about three clicks in Photoshop:
Not great, but not terrible. Unfortunately, nothing's going...
It's always easier to help people when they ask specific questions. You've probably tried to compile it by now, so you should have some errors to report, at least.
The one comment I'd make is to mind the difference between member variables and accessors. You're occasionally using getName...
I hope I'm not stating the obvious here, but if you're so unfamiliar with PHP, you may be better off using a prepackaged CMS (see here for a starting point) and using its skin or theme system to implement your design.
There's nothing particularly special about public_html, so depending on your server, it may not exist. That directory is just the default directory that Apache resolves requests to for users. Your host seems to be running IIS, so it's not surprising to me that the directory doesn't exist.
Crazy. It sounds to me like there is something wrong (possibly intentionally) with your server. Can you think of any reason they would forbid downloading of files like that? Is there a whilelist of file extensions that are allowed to be downloaded?
Could, but not gonna, because it's already quite well documented. ;) That first autocmd, for example, says "whenever you open a file that ends with .txt, set tabs up differently and don't try to do C-style autoindenting."
It's easy enough to write your own. Just play around with it; if Vim...
By the way, if you're tired of seeing excessively large photos in these threads and are a Firefox user, throw something like this in your userContent.css:
@-moz-document domain(hardforum.com) {
img { max-width: 750px; }
}
If it's a short movie and suitable for an animated GIF, you might check out Easy GIF Animator. I've made a few animations with it (may have to hit reload to see this one):
The legal firms or departments that prepare these documents probably do not expect end users to understand them. In fact, I imagine that they intend EULAs to be incomprehensible. I'd bet that in the vast majority of cases, if IT managers actually understood the license terms, they would not be...
Don't get me wrong, I do recommend it, but one has to be aware that some people just won't listen. There are times when you just want to leave out the fact that it's open source, and people can pretend it's just freeware or shareware or something. ;)
I know more IT staffers who are afraid of open source than IT staffers who are against closed source, and most of what I hear from other people supports that bias. The campaigns by various companies against open source as a concept has been very effective in seeind fear, uncertainty, and doubt...
Who knew? Java is apparently what's going to be driving Blu-Ray discs. Check out the specifications, particularly the A/V & Application specs (PDF). It's a very interesting read and not overly technical.
Before someone less friendly jumps on you about it, I would like to point out that Java is not an acronym and should not be completely capitalized. ;)
Also, please use the [code] tag when you post code snippets here. It makes your code easier for us to read, and thus you will get more and...
It is most definitely not beside the point, especially in an introductory class like this where programmers will be forming their most basic habits. I can easily picture them walking away thinking, "I'll just use a double for everything, since it can hold the biggest numbers!"
