Hey arr4ws. I've been in the same boat for a few months. I have a 680 and a 4770k, similar ram, so very similar setup to yours. I've seen some fantastic 970 deals but I just can't bite. I'm going to wait to see if the 980ti (maybe even 390x) comes out and go from there. I can't find the link...
For us newbies out there- Can someone explain this like I'm five? Why is this or is this not a big deal? I'm seeing conflicting information in my research (mostly forum posts).
So, anything other under 1.3v @ 4.6 is good? I've really only tested it with BF3 and Bioshock. Seems like prime and the like push it more than I will with normal use.
What about frame lag? Not being sarcastic... I thought that SLI increased frame latency and can make games feel weird/laggy. The benefit of 120hz is clarity and no input lag. I have one 680 and would gladly get another if it wouldn't hurt competitive gaming.
