It sounds like you saved it as a raw, uncompressed AVI which is why the file size is so much more than the original. I'm not sure about the speed issue tho.

The black connector in the lower right corner with the arrow pointing to it is your floppy connector. And jackofalltrades is correct, the blue connector is for a serial port module. All of these connectors are listed in the manual, which can be downloaded here.
