AT&T Turns Off 4G on New Motorola and HTC Phones

What everyone, including the author of that article (worthless article IMHO) seems to be getting stuck on, is that they are talking about HSUPA which is the uplink type only. That will not make any noticeable difference unless you're uploading photo or video. What ATT has done to make their...

    Samsung Tablet VS Ipad

Concur on the iPad recommendation. Especially going with your intended uses. Android, while good for smartphones, has a bit of growing room to go for tablets. Even Google themselves have said that Android in its current form is not meant for tablets right now.

    Samsung Tablet VS Ipad

Actually, the iPad is iPhone 4 hardware as far as CPU goes except clocked a little higher. To the OP, what do you plan on using it for?

Screen equal or better than iPhone 4?

Incredible is S-LCD, not sure if that's an IPS derivative or not. Supposed to be fairly comparable to the AMOLED that was being used. Without the Pen-Tile that is. ;)

Screen equal or better than iPhone 4?

Yes. I'm not sure off-hand what the Evo uses, but I wasn't terribly impressed when I played with one. Pixel structure-wise, it was clean but didn't seem to have the contrast or colors of the previous mentioned phones.

Screen equal or better than iPhone 4?

Yeah, I thought this was a thread about screen quality and comparisons to the i4's *SCREEN* not the whole phone debate thingy. The OP was wondering about comparable LCD quality to the i4 (which, has a very nice LCD admittedly regardless of whether you like the phone or not). On-topic, if you...

Screen equal or better than iPhone 4?

It really comes down to which you prefer. Extremely poppy colors on the Captivate (overblown IMO but I dislike wide-gamut and not everyone does) or very fine resolution on the i4. I wish the i4 were the same size as the Captivate, but Apple being Apple... Also, it's not just about the...

    iPhone 4 Video Encoder

Check out the latest unofficial build of XviD4PSP 5 (FCP's unofficial r90 build) it adds a custom option under format that allows setting your own resolution limits to be used as template. There are a few other good mods in his builds, and while the official version 6 of XviD4PSP looks nice, it...

gotta say it -- iPhone4 fail this morning

The only things they introduced that I care about and don't already have in better form being jailbroken are the new LCD (PPI is good, IPS is better) and the A4. I'm still not quite sure how much faster it actually is though compared to the existing Cortex in the 3GS…will have to do some...

AT&T is screwing the pooch, big time, and customers too...

The really stupid part among other telco silliness, is trying to get people to pay extra for tethering. If you're already paying for a certain bandwidth ceiling then why should they want you to pay more to use some or all of *your* bandwidth on a different device? It's not like it's a "feature"...

Anyone have the Nexus One? Confused and question regarding AT&T.

I actually just did the same thing the OP's question is about. Have a jailbroken 3GS, and got bored so I wanted to try out an Android device. Got the Nexus, AT&T banded version. 3G works fine, yes on the data plan (might be able to get away with a dumbphone data plan until AT&T merges the IMEI...

Question regarding 120mm fans, particularly Scythe

Anyone familiar with the amount of variance the onboard CPU fan header on the P6T provides? I'm going to check at home with my existing fan (which is RPM limited ATM due to it's built in rheostat) but wanted to ask too.

Question regarding 120mm fans, particularly Scythe

Any particular reason you mention the Slipstreams? From listening to some of the noise videos of the GT and Slip, the Slipstream seems like it's only real advantage would be price.
  14. U

Question regarding 120mm fans, particularly Scythe

Yeah, for the actual turbulence noise output, I think the 1850's might be a tad much for me for case fan use. The CPU I'm not that worried about as that's not at the edge of the case and there will be speed control from the mobo. As I don't have a fan controller, aside from swapping some molex...

Question regarding 120mm fans, particularly Scythe

Hmm...I still can't decide whether to pull the trigger on some 1800's or 1450's. Is the sound signature at max on the 1800's mostly just white noise and air? At this point I'm leaning towards the 1450's, but I don't want to not buy enough capacity. Maybe I'll grab one 1800 for the CPU and...

    a-power power supplies

Definitely second what the guys here that are regulars to the PSU section have said. Seen a few myself taken out by the infamous Bestec 250-12E units. On another note, we actually stock these A-Power units at my workplace as replacements (need to have a talk about that with my boss) and while...

    Help Ocing core i7 920

Try running Prime95 blend or Linpack at stock speeds. I have almost the same RAM (two sets actually, Gold version) and one set turned out to be bad. It would always fail at stock speeds running Linpack max memory usage with the bad set, but they would not always BSOD and would only throw...

Question regarding 120mm fans, particularly Scythe

Hmm...good info. Looks like I'll probably be going with the 1450's since I'm going for whisper quiet at idle on the CPU fan, and not being sure what amount of control my CPU fan header is going to give me (running a P6T)...does it sound like I'm on the right track or am I overestimating the...

Question regarding 120mm fans, particularly Scythe

The GT's look very nice, however I'm not sure if these would work with the TRUE Spirit due to the fan clip design and the closed hole format these fans have. Was kinda hoping for a PWM version too, but 3-pin will work if there's a decent way to mount them on a TRUE Spirit (guessing there is).

Corsair TX650, worth rewiring a case?

Well, it's not loud at all and the only reason I probably even noticed is I have all my fans unplugged at the moment. Mainly wanted to see if this was anything to be worried about, as it seems almost all PSU's make some electrical noise to differing degrees and types.
  22. U

Corsair TX650, worth rewiring a case?

Definitely not the fan as I already started the unit with the fan held stopped. The noise is highly localized inside the PSU. If it is indeed some form of coil whine, is there anything that can be done to help that? I've heard of using hot glue on the whining coil.

Corsair TX650, worth rewiring a case?

Currently in the process of rewiring but decided to fire it up before I start doing wire management. I'm getting a slight, very high-pitched whistle noise that I've isolated to the PSU, it's not the units fan as I've started it up with the fan held stopped as well. My Silent Pro does not have...

Corsair TX650, worth rewiring a case?

Ok. So, right now my system is running great with a Coolermaster Silent Pro 600w, i7 920, Crossfire 4860's. Now, I recently came into the possession of a used Corsair TX650 unit from my workplace and have been comparing the two. I know the Corsair is basically a higher output PSU but am debating...

Running two 4860's xfire on P6T vanilla

So, decided to try some different slot locations as the primary card was essentially sucking the heat off the back of the secondary card PCB side. The only thing is the P6T vanilla has the first two slots at 16x 2.0 and the third at 4x 2.0. Both 16x's are such that the cards are sandwiched...

    Help with I7 + CM V8

If you're getting around 68 load with a V8 you're not doing too badly. I had a defective V8 myself and couldn't get it below 78 at load (stock). Also, what's your airflow setup look like?

Asus P6T Deluxe, G.Skill 6GB not running at stock speed and only 4GB showing

Try upping your VDIMM to 1.65 or 1.7, I can reproduce this same issue on my P6T (normal version) when I populate all slots with 12GB (while overclocking) and it's either due to a voltage low making a stick not run properly or it may be related to QPI/Uncore voltage. Might want to try tweaking...

    Cooler Master V8...defective unit?

That voltage range you're looking at could be the fan voltage range if you're reading from the v8 box but if you're looking for your CPU voltage, grab OCCT, hit run on the default stress test, and under CPU vcore in the monitoring section check that number. Under load that's your CPU voltage.

What do you guys think about the H50

Ah, I thought I read a post from a Corsair rep here saying otherwise. Eh, either way the manual isn't really clear on which ones to use for which bracket.
  32. U

    Cooler Master V8...defective unit?

Yep, that's on auto and it averages about 1.25 load at stock. FYI, grabbed an H50 to try out for some comparison to make sure it's not my settings; so far I'm getting max of 60 C under OCCT small.
  33. U

What do you guys think about the H50

It's as others in this thread have surmised, competitive with high-end air cooling. It's not going to give you anywhere close to the temps of a nice, "real" WC setup, but then again that's not the intention. FYI, in installing mine today, I found something to watch out for. Apparently older...

    Cooler Master V8...defective unit?

Quite good. There's a 120 at the rear, what I think is a 140 up top, and another 120 in the front with a well ventilated opening. I should mention, the air temps inside the case close to the CPU are only a little above ambient, the CPU heatsink hardly gets warm under full load OCCT.

    Cooler Master V8...defective unit?

Hey guys, recently built a new i7 rig and am having some trouble with the HSF. I'm getting idle temps of around the mid 40's (all temps are Celsius), but the load temps are out-of-whack at the 80-and-higher range when running OCCT standard on small format, as well as linpack. From everything...

    Help choosing att phone

The trial period is 30 days in California and either 14 or 15 days elsewhere. If you decide you don't like the phone within that time period, you can return it (possibly a small restocking fee depending on phone) and simply continue your remaining contract or pick another phone. Something to...

    Anyone tried the Samsung Eternity?

It is a big sep up from the Vu in every way, and is actually pretty good for a resistive touchscreen. Decent phone, but there are a few things that are buggy or missing. Symantec Says Free AV Software Can’t “Keep Up”

This article smacks of the same kind of whining that the Opera devs do. :D Been using AVG (don't really even need it, but what the heck) for a fews years now. Why anyone would pay for Norton or Mcafee is beyond me. If you *really* want to pay for anti-virus software, there are far better ones...

    Tethering on IPhone 3G....

Wireless telcos being what they are, they most likely had Apple build a network notifier of some sort into the built-in tethering method, so I would be careful. If they really have a reason to (which in my experience is hardly ever), it's not hard to tell you're tethering even if it's not using...
