    Is Joomla right for this?

Someone else in my student organization says Wordpress can do the registration features I asked about. He said Buddypress can do all that we require which is basically 1)Have schools fill out a form 2) Compile the information on that form into some sort of spreadsheet 3) Allow schools to change...

    Is Joomla right for this?

I've been looking into using Joomla to create a website for an event my organization on-campus hosts for high school students. I've taken a web design course and know XHTML, CSS, and some PHP. Our current webmaster who we've been paying is slow and the design of our site is honestly atrocious...

    laptop charging problem

Hey, So I'm not sure what my problem is with my laptop. I'm guessing either the battery or the power cord. I think this happened after I tripped over the cord and pulled it harder than it could handle. Now when I try to power my laptop, the cord/plug have to be in just the right position for...

    Macbook suggestions?

I think I might be falling into the trap of wanting better specs for a Macbook than is really necessary for what I use a computer for. I also have no idea what to get since I've been a PC person my entire life so I have a much better idea of what specs I need for a PC than I do a Mac. So here is...

    R600 Launch Date?

The Inquirer claims here that the launch will be from April 23 to 24 in Tunisia. So this means that it will be about a month for the new ATI graphics cards if Inq is to be believed.

ATI R600 Confirmations on Size and Power

Is Tweaktown more or less dependable than the Inquirier generally speaking? Because the release of all the R6xx within the next month would be sweet, especially since everyone has been saying May/June is the release date.

Mid range R6** faster than the GTX!!!!

So they're saying the 630 is the same as the 600. Someone on that site is clearly confused unless we've all been lied too. However, if I try to interpret the confusion, this could mean that they're talking about the mid-range card being better than their current best offering.

So if rumours are true... And to run a high end AMD setup, you need...

And since apparently the R600's power consumption was just cut by 1/3rd because of the 65nm process, it'll only be 200watts I guess if I understand that correctly.

    R600 Release Dates

I found http://www.tweaktown.com/news/7193/amd_roadmap_update_on_r600_details_confirmed/index.html]this from TweakTown. Although that chart doesn't seem to indicate the power consumption decrease with the news of th 65nm process confirmed today. Then again, this article from TweakTown is 2...

    R600 die shrink to 65nm

I was actually going to order my new PC within the next week thinking that even if it the R600 was faster, no point in getting it with its huge power requirements. There is no actual reason for me to get the PC now so I'll wait another month or so and get the X2900XT.

    Asus A8Js

The deal went from being promising to being sketchy again. He e-mailed me saying that there was a delay in him being verified and wanted only check. Then he e-mailed me a day later saying that PayPal was working, however, the PayPal name was The___Pong or something like that and that just...

    Any experience with GearXS?

Hmm, another notebook I'd be interested in is: http://www.gearxs.us.com/product_info.php?products_id=184 or maybe even http://www.gearxs.us.com/product_info.php?products_id=450, although that Sony is the most expensive and has the slower processor out of the 3 on the site I'm looking at.

    Any experience with GearXS?

I'm shopping around for a laptop and I found this website: www.gearxs.us.com . All their notebooks seem to be $300-$500 cheaper than you can find elsewhere. It seems to me maybe one of those things where it's too good to be true. The FAQ says that all their products are brand new and come with...

I am about to order the Asus. I e-mailed him asking if they accept PayPal and they do so if it's a scam all you need to do is cancel the credit card payment.

    Best Budget Laptop => $750

I'm pretty sure office isn't included in most laptop prices. At least not the ones I've been looking at.

    Best Budget Laptop => $750

I'm also in the same boat. Gaming isn't a concern for me either, but being able to play some Civilization IV or maybe if I'm lucky, WoW, would be a nice bonus (I'll still have a desktop for gaming though so it's not a big issue). My goals are the same basically: 1) Use internet 2) Office apps 3)...

Probably a Dumb Question but I'm curious

If the new Mac OSX Tiger is meant to run on the intel boards, could one purchase a PC and then partition the harddrive and install the new OSX on the PC hardware? I'm not interested in an Intel Mac or anything, it's just something I've been wondering.

WoW held my interest for about a year, but now I can hardly stand to play it. My gaming team agrees and we're eagerly awaiting Dungeons and Dragons Online.

    Dell Power Supply Upgrade

Well, my video card fan won't work due to an unsuccessful fix attempt so now it's running on just a heatsink. So I either need to buy a new 9600XT or upgrade. However, to upgrade I'd need a new power supply since the Dell is only 250W. I'm looking at this which is $120 and way too exspensive...

    Video Card Fan Connector

I just bought the Arctic Silencer 2 for my 9600 XT. The power connector for the fan though will not in any way come close to fitting on my Asus 9600XT. Right now it's running with just the heatsink which hopefully will not ruin the card. I periodically check it to make sure it's not getting hot...

    Replace Video Card Fan

Thanks for all the info. I was looking at the site and wondering why the link you sent me is so much cheaper. http://www.frozencpu.com/vid-35.html is $20 more and also for the 9600XT. Should I get the more exspensive one?
  29. H

    Replace Video Card Fan

Thanks! Just to confirm, when it says it's for a 9600XT, that means it'll work with not just the ATI's right? Mine is an Asus.

    Replace Video Card Fan

The fan on my Asus 9600XT is making weird noises and I need to replace it. I've never done anything like this before, but I'm hoping it's not too tricky. Anyways, where can I find a fan that would work on this card? Also, if there are any good links on instructions on how to replace the fan...

    Weird Noise

I just pinpointed it to my videocard fan which still seems to be spinning, just making noise while doing so. The card does not seem to be hotter than it should be either. Is it possible to replace the fan/heatsink on an Asus 9600XT or somehow make the noise go away!

    Weird Noise

My computer is making a weird humming noise. And the hum changes pitch so it doesn't always sound the same. I suspect it's my video card because I remember I had to return this one two weeks after I got it when I originally bought it over a year ago. My question is basically, could it be my hard...

    high quality open headphones

I'm thinking about the HD-485's as well and the CNet review says they may very well be the best sounding headphones for under $100. You can find them for $70'ish on shopping.com
  34. H

    Headphone suggestions

Hmm, anybody know anything about the new Sennheiser HD 485's? They're $75, but the only review I can find is CNet which says they're the best in the sub-$100 range...Has a headphone stand that comes with it which is kind of nifty.

Heh, then maybe the Grados are out. Any advice on HD-280's vs. MDR-V6?
  36. H

    Headphone suggestions

Hmm, so I guess now it's down to Sennheiser HD-280 vs. Grado SR-80 vs. Sony MDR-V6. MDR-V6 having good comfort while Grado SR-80's may be the best for sound and HD-280's are in the middle, but have the most consistent reviews...May still be leaning towards them.
  37. H

    Headphone suggestions

I just looked and it says $95. So, are the Grados comfortable enough where you can wear tthem for long periods of time just having to take them off once in a while for a few minutes? If I can find those for $80 maybe I'll get them over the HD-280's.
  38. H

    Headphone suggestions

Well, now it appears I can go up to $85 because my dad insists that he's not comfortable in giving me "refurbs." This gives me a few more options. I didn't know you could get the Grado SR-80's for just $80. Not sure if that comfort means much for me though as they could be wearing them for 5-8...
  39. H

    Headphone suggestions

Looks like I may go for that now. I read the review I found on these forums, and they're the highest rated in the price range on more than one site. I'll probably go with the refurbs from eCost and hopefully they really are like new. Nobody knows of Sennheiser refurbs being of poor quality do they?
  40. H

    Headphone suggestions

497's good, but some user reviews have mentioned questionable durability and not great comfort. Right now I might go for the 280's, not sure on their value though for my use.
