Maybe a slight gain in video encoding when SSE3 is written into optimizers, but other than that it was a bad decision. The 1 MB cache isn't gonna help, it needs that just to be able to compensate for errors in its longer pipeline.
I'm looking at the NEC Mitsubishi 17" LCD on newegg for its 16 ms timing.

I just got a 2x512MB kit of PC3500 Golden Dragon and both sticks are full of Memtest86 errors. Who is the better RMA experience with, shipping it back to newegg or trying with Geil?
I like having 2 from different brands to read the widest variety of CDs. I have a Liteon burner and Pioneer DVD ROM. If theres a weird CD or scratched CD that the Liteon won't read, the Pioneer usually will and vice-versa.
Also, since I use SATA HDDs, each drive is Master of its own IDE...
Each new version of DirectX really optimizes the dlls for the last. It only uses 8.1 features, but it uses DirectX 9 because its methods of rendering DirectX 8.1 level effects are more efficient.

When I went from 5400 RPM drive to my first IBM 7200, it was like a revelation! Everything loaded so fast and correctly... it was amazing. Wanting to relive that, and hearing nothing but good things about WD drives with 8MB cache, I took the plunge and bought a Raptor.
Its not a huge jump in...
dual channel isn't worth worrying about/breaking a sweat about. we're talking 3-7% memory increase in speed. Its nice to have but not worth working towards and losing sleep
if you have a shitty BIOS get a better one. I had samsung memory with an april 29 bios and couldn't squeeze 10 mhz out of my memory. with a flash to the august BIOS for my card I got 30 mhz
